View Full Version : Who in Denver would Miami be interviewing

theAPAOps5

Just got back from doing a ramp inspection and low and behold I see the Miami Dolphins corporate jet parked here. Didn't think anything of it until I remembered that Wayne Huizinga was reported to be flying around interviewing candidates for their opening. Merely speculation that this is why they are here but its kind of coincidental.

Ted Sundquist for GM? That would suck.

theAPAOps5
01-15-2007, 02:27 PM
I see a lot of Denver Broncos out here. Usually Mr Bowlen flies out the draft picks so I see them when I am on duty. I gotta say the strangest thing I ever saw was Porter right after he got shot in the butt. His agent requested our help blocking his view from reporters when they put him on a plane to go back to Pittsburg. I looked up just as he was getting out of the ambulance and onto the plane. He still had his hospital gown on and all I see is the enourmous mans bandaged butt.

theAPAOps5
01-15-2007, 02:28 PM
Ted Sundquist for GM? That would suck.

Oh man I didn't even think of that. Sundquist is a big reason for the recent drafts in my eyes. I really don't want him to go. It couldn't be Shannahan could it? He does have Florida ties and he is trying to work out a long term deal.

See thats what I was thinking also but in the 4 years I have worked here I have never seen that jet unless they were playing or they were holding offseason meetings. Last year all the teams jets were here for the Owners meetings it was crazy.

I bet he may be doing just that since they just underwent an image change.

Yeah could be that too but its been here since yesterday. Usually they gas and go. It could very well be a ski deal also. Vail/Eagle Airport, and Aspen are limited on space so many times they drop off then fly down here for parking.

Again I just thought it was peculiar that they would be here and they happen to be looking for a new coach. I am not trying to start any speculation or rumors just thought I would throw it out there and see what people thought.

Do you work seven days a week, 12 hours a day? It is possible you missed a Miami Dolphins jet flying in to Denver.

And besides, wouldn't it just be more convienent for Miami to fly the canidate in instead of flying to him?

From what I hear, the dealerships are not only in the midst of a name change, but there is a big shake up in the regional and local management. I believe he spent around $85 milion for those dealerships eight years ago. I'm sure he wouldn't hesitate to fly in to protect that investment.

Good eye though, APs. Any chance you could run down the street and bug the Broncs Hdq for us?

I wish, hell I am not even supposed to make things like this public. There is a reason we have a lot of business, celeb's, and well known people fly through here. So they can have their autonomy. But when your jet is painted Miami colors, your tail number ends in HZ and there is a huge Dolphins helmet painted on your tail anybody can spot it.

I am not sure but I don't see Bates going back after he coached the team on an interim basis only to lose out on a fulltime chance to Saban. Again they are here for a couple more days. An interview doesn't take that long I bet it has something to do with AutoNation and its restructuring.

theAPAOps5

They are trying to unload thier problem on us. That has to be it! As for renting it out that could be possible but I seriously doubt it, most people who own their own jets rarely schlep them out. The Rockies own a Challenger jet they invested in specifically to charter out but they don't travel on that one.

Watch the plane 24x7, before it leaves as it taxi's down the run way Pull a Jack Bauer & jump into the luggage hold & then roundhouse kick your way into the passenger compartment to get to the root of the mystery.

Force the pilot to land on the Dove Valley Training field (NOTE: not the in-door bubble) if any Bronco personnel are on board.

Post here when you have control so we can track you on the google earth satelites. There may be some delay as google earth does not update info often, if at all but hey, Jack Bauer can do it, so can you!

Are you an FAA inspector?

theAPAOps5
01-15-2007, 06:00 PM
No I do not work for the FAA. I like to make people's lives easier not harder. I work for the airport itself. I coordinate emergencies, snow removal, and make sure the airport is in compliance with the FAA.

As for going all Jack Bauer style that would be overkill. I can just sit right infront of the airplane and watch who gets on. Better yet I can just ask the guys at the FBO who fuel it and help load the bags. They always get all the dirt.

Yes. There wouldn't have been an article on the team site if he hadn't. They never mention any signing unless it is official, unlike the papers writing something when contracts have been agreed to.

Hey Apa, question for you.

I fly Great Lakes quite a bit, and on the East side of Concourse A there is usually a "Champion Air" plane parked out a little ways.
That isn't the charter the Broncos use, is it?

I am strange, but I freaking LOVE going to the airport. I have since I was a kid. 5 hour wait between flights? No problem, i'll just walk around the place and check out things, watch planes, and people watch. No big deal to me.

theAPAOps5
01-15-2007, 07:46 PM
Champion Air might be ConAir. I don't work out at DIA I work down at Centennial. The Broncose usually chater something bigger and its usually through United Airlines. I always love flying into airports and always schedule layovers to be a little longer so I can sit and watch. My favorite is when I fly into the New York system or into Atlanta. Another favorite of mine is to go out to DIA and take the exit for the long term parking on the S side of the airport. There is a road, I want to say 63rd or 56th, its a back way over to Front Range airport. The Road sits right underneath the S Approach for the RYs. I can do that for hours.

Man I would plow my street if I wanted to do it out of work. I keep asking my boss to let me take one of the Oshkosh Plows home. Our blade on that thing would clear a street in one pass, that and the cars parked on the street as well but hey the streets will be cleared, :wiggle:

Alot of big charters use the 727 of champion or 737 of casino express. Golfers use NetJets or an similar fractional/charter company. One of my good friends fly's for Champion. As Apa said United will charter planes as needed.

I am not going to list the N-Number for the GIV just because my job asks not to do that. People fly in to APA for a reason. I know its there but I don't want to be the person that is linked to that. Its dumb but my boss would flip if he read that I posted an airport users N-Number on a chat forum. A General Aviation airport like Centennial Airport is in business because it provides a certain level of autonomy, if that is compromised then it chases people away.
