Thomas Jones-signed a four-year contract with the Bears on March 3, 2004. The deal is worth approximately $10 million and includes a signing bonus of about $3.5 million.
In need of a decent qb. Might be able to package Plummer and something for him.
Marino Barber-Barber agreed to a five-year deal on July 28, 2005. The contract will likely void to three years based on playing time incentives. He will receive minimum salaries of $230,000, $310,000, and $385,000 the first three years
Idk how we could get him but I wouldn't mind.
Michael Turner-Turner signed a three-year contract with the Chargers in July 2004. Terms were not disclosed
No way the chargers will let him go to us would they?

1. Chicago is much more likely to try and unload Benson than Jones.
2. Parcells loves Barber, he's not going anywhere.
3. Turner would cost a 1st rounder on top of the contract he'd demand. I'd prefer not to hand our 1st rounder over to a division rival.

Initial rumors are that since Jones has come on so well, it'll be Benson who finds himself on the block. I personally really like Barber but wouldn't say I'd bet a whole lot that he could turn around our run game to the point we need it. Noone knows yet how he'll do outside of a RBBC. While Turner is pretty good, I think he'll be overhyped this offseason.

Parcells has said he really likes Barber and probably won't give him up, he prefers to have 2 HB's on his squad.
Thomas Jones is the only one we would have a shot at. The Bears prefer Benson, and Benson is loads better. Jones is getting old though.
Turner I would love to get, but he would cost a 1st no doubt. He is a RFA, the only FA.

Jones isnt 30 yet. We could ride him till we could afford to draft a great back. I personally think we have too much to fix right now to take a rb in the 2nd or 3rd.

I've never been a fan of Benson. I'd also prefer not to inherit his top 5 pick contract.

Benson could be available, but I'd be surprised if the Broncos went after him that hard. I'm guessing Chris Brown and a mid round draft pick on a RB.

One thing about point 2 -- what if Parcells isn't back next year?

Take this as gospel- The Bears are loving Cedric right now
Cedric Benson will not be a Denver Bronco next year period....
