DENVER BRONCOS
April grade: C

January grade: D

This draft class has a future in QB Jay Cutler, TE Tony Scheffler and pass rusher Elvis Dumervil, but coach Mike Shanahan waited until it was too late to ask Cutler and Scheffler for season-saving contributions. Undrafted RB Mike Bell rushed for 677 yards and eight touchdowns.

WTF!?! A D? Really?

His point seems to be that the application of these draft picks was used poorly. Thats debateable. Also, Schleffer was on the field early, but never clicked with Plummer, but only late with Cutler. However, since we had 3 draft picks that saw regular time on the field, and fourth undrafted RB that set a record for most yards by an undrafted player, didnt we earn a better than D grade? Oh, and he forgot Marshall.

I give this expert's grade a D... minus.

No mention of Brandon Marshall? He's another guy who magically got involved in the offense once the Broncos got competant QB play.

This also doesn't take into account the Broncos trading a 2nd rounder on draft day for Javon Walker.

Any draft grade that doesnt include trading a second rounder for javon walker loses all credability

Never knew you drafted for the upcoming season only. You learn something new every day.

Wow, I hope we get a D every year.

Isn't Pears also a rookie who did a good job?

In their 2nd year, there will be 3 starters (JC, TS, and BM), a possible fourth starter (Kuper), and two others who will see serious playing time (MB and ED). What a ****ty draft.

Pears was on the PS last year, technically it was his 2nd season.

sounds like his opinion is the coaching with rookies was a D. He has no clue what the F (that is his grade) he is talking about.

Isn't the grade supposed to be about the quality of the selections themselves instead of when/how they were used?

Its called DRAFT GRADES for a reason, not STAFF GRADES.

First, how would Gosselin know when Cutler or Scheffler were ready to start? I don't seem to recall him being in the faction that called for Jay when we were going 7-2...second, since we finished 2-3 with the changes he thinks should have been made earlier, how does that constitute the right move to save the season in Gosselin logic? I guess Jay and Schef would have been better players with less experience...???

Normally this guy's pretty good...one of the best...but this time he's just pathtic. Basically we drafted an entire offense minus the line in one shot plus added a pass rusher with 8 1/2 sacks and that's a D? LOL

He says Leinart could be special. He must not have noticed Cutler smoke Leinart twice this last year.

I've learned over the years very few in the media who do the grading of drafts really have much of a clue.

Keep in mind, this guy is writing in Texas. That should explain a lot about how high the BS is......

Just goes to show that the only difference between a journalist and a good poster on this message board is the pay.
