Interesting tidbit from foxsports.com
Jake Plummer - #16 - Quarterback - 6'2" - 212lbs
News: NFL Network's Adam Schefter indicated Tuesday that new Jags offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter may be interested in acquiring Jake Plummer.
Impact: Koetter, the head coach at Arizona State after Plummer left school, is believed to be an admirer of the soon-to-be ex-Broncos quarterback, and Schefter says the feeling there is mutual. The Jags would have to get one QB off their hands to take on Plummer. A David Garrard-for-Plummer deal is highly unlikely because of age and money considerations. (Tue. Jan 9, 2007)

That would probably be a good place for Jake. Good defense and probably the least media intensity of any NFL city.

The Arizona connection. It will interesting to see what comes of it.

Careful - Those Arizona State folk are going to start calling you the Utah connection. ;D

I say we trade Jake and Tatum for Maurice Jones Drew.
Tell Sundquist to make it happen.
/obligatory trade proposal that would never happen in a million years post.

Don't we play Jacksonville next year? Wouldn't that be fun week leading up to the game to play against Jake?
Cool that so many teams are interested in Jake as a backup. If he'd consider a contract restructuring we might be able to trade him for a second day pick to a team wanting to guarantee themselves of getting him.
I'd also like to shop Foster and Tatum, if either can return a 3rd rounder I'd take it, a 3rd is enough to move us into the mid-teens and grab Lynch, Okoye, something like that.

Excellent job of following Orangemane offseason rules... Only one recomendation always add a low round pick into the mix. My suggestion would be:
Courtney Brown, Paul Ernster, and a 5th for Straud and Henderson
But other wise excellent Job :strong:

Coach him up Dave!
Why are they saying a Garrard-for-Plummer trade is unlikely due to age/money constraints....isn't it Leftwhich that will be leaving and Garrard staying?

Good point. There is nothing that can seal the deal like a late, second day pick.

This is interesting.
I think Jake would run away with Jacksonville's starting job. He's probably more mobile than Garrard and is a better passer. Jake could throw high and it wouldn't be that big of a deal with the monster height that Jacksonville's receivers have.
I think he'd do well there. I hope he does well wherever he goes.

Garrard is young, Jake is old. J'Ville probably wants Jake as a stop-gap while they develop a young guy (Garrard). The salaries also don't match because Jake is making a Tier 2 salary (just below pro bowler money) while Garrard is not.
Huge win for Denver ... who will simply cut Plummer anyway.

I think the Jags would like to trade Fred Taylor. Right now, I'd take a sandwich and chips for Jake Plummer. Fred Taylor for Jake would be just fine with me. If they don't trade him they'll likely cut him... food for thought if nothing else.

Sounds like a winner to me! What's the deal with everyone switching handles BTW...?

Anything at all that we get for jake would be a bonus. I firmly believe that before the season started Shanny was hoping that Jake would have another year like last year, so that he would be decent trade bait. Jake's sucky play scuppered that plan, and now we're looking at cutting him.
Viewed from that perspective, something like old Fred Taylor or a draft pick woudl be sweeeeeeeet:sunshine:

Unless we are turning Fred Taylor into a ball hawking safety I'm a pass on Fred Taylor.

If shanny gets anything from Plummer I would be shocked.

interesting idea, Koetter never coached Plummer at ASU, but I'm not surprised that he likes him. Plummer is still pretty popular on campus, that is sure to rub off. He did do a pretty good job with Walter and Keller. I'm not a fan of Rudy Carpenter though. Interesting that he landed an NFL OC job after getting fired at ASU.
i think there is a better chance of jake getting traded than most people realize...true, he will be cut most likely june 1st if he isn't moved before then, but i think it is very likely someone will want to secure jake plummer and not have to get into a bidding war for him.

I would take Rob Meier off there hands and for some reason I like Toefield as well. Not saying that Jake alone would get those two but those guys would be worth a look for a QB that could be cut.

You mean like three years ago when Jake was a younger and more promising free agent in a worthless QB FA class when he was only competing with Kordell Stewart as the top guy?
As I recall in that "bidding war" over Jake being a STARTER only two teams in the entire league were interested. Chicago and Denver, and Jake took a risky deal that was a basic one year tryout.
:giggle:
The only bidding war going on for Jake will be bets on whether he grows a beard this offseason or not.

Unless there's an intriguing offer on the table from someone Jake will not be traded. It's far too expensive to trade him at this point in time. He will be cut on 1 June 07 or cut earlier and designated as a 1 June 07 cut. No way the Broncos can afford to carry an invisible $7m cap hit this year and still have to find a decent back-up QB and I dont mean that waste of NFL space Van Pelt.

That's stupid. Who's gonna punt for us? Why do people propose trades where we get totally screwed?
