Colorado signed Javy Lopez to a one year, $750,000 deal today. The contract is pending a physical.

A great contract given the current state of the baseball market. Lopez will probably make only 50-60% of the starts behind the plate since he's been beat up by injuries, it will probably be similar to the situation in the way the Padres used Mike Piazza last season.

The move also allows the Rockies to stay patient with the future in Chris Iannetta and give him another half year, year of development down in Colorado Springs.

the contracts have been insane.

I gotta get that thing TJ had for watching over the internet. I hate the direct tv package both because only some games are televised, and even then from places like Hou and Mil, and the home games are really late in my time zone. Day games, baby.

Every little bit helps, but they need to get Atkins signed to a long term contract and find another bat.

Yeah, one can look at the Jennings trade and say that hou gave so much, they had no choice. But if they don't sign Adkins ... well that's proof that the sell off continues. And it'll be a shame because the papers don't have the stones to call in the dogs on the feedlot boys. I had hopes when they got the trucker dude out of there, but ..... well, we'll see.
