could anyone tell me what the deal is with RFA'S? i was just wondering because i was looking at the chiefs situation with gerard allen and t.Gonzalez. i heard that gonz. will get the francise tag. that i know. so if we were to out bid the chiefs and they dont want him. is there a penalty? and if so what is it? thanks

teams that are RFA get qualifing offers from their current teams. The Offer determines what pick compensation teams will have to give up to obtain the player. If you remember a few years back we offered compensation to Jeb Putzier only equal to the round he was drafted in, being a sixth round compensation in Jeb's Case. Where we offerend Lenny Walls a first round compensation qualifing offer, even though he was undrafted.
Compensation in the form of two first round picks, is the franchise tag, the most compensation you can recieve for a RFA is a first, and a third round pick.
