Exactly. Hell of a lot of top-tier players don't make that much.

Urrutia as well.

DidnŽt know he red shirted, but wouldnŽt that step come a little too soon for him? IŽm guessing he has more to lose from going pro early.

Saban didnŽt get that much when he came to Miami and Saban actually won a National Championship at LSU. 4.8m p/a is a whole lot of money for a guy whoŽs coming out of College.

Good move by Petrino. Most likely $24 million guaranteed. If he fails like Saban and leaves after 2-3 years, some college will come around and offer $50 million for 10 years.

I believe Saban had 3 years, 12.4 million left on his contract. Saban was pulling atleast $4 million a year.

Also, the price has gone up. Saban received that contract two years ago.

saban had two or three years left at 4.5 per year and left LSU as the highest paid coach somewhere in the 2s i think.

So Petrino wants to be the next "idiot" that just doesn't know how to use Ron Mexico properly.

The entire US media could be calling me any name under the sun for $ 24m. Vick is a coach killer.

I would take that money to coach him. I would run him with reckless abandon until he got hurt and then I'd put Schaub in and see what I've got.

They're mostly Kevorkian jobs, though.

Then youŽd be the idiot that got the franchise QB killed. ;)

His offensive scheme can't be any worse than the west coast strategy Mora tried to fit him into. Didn't Petrino run a more spread offense at Louisville? Vick could actually be dangerous in a scheme like that. Still no hope for Lelie though. Karma is a *****.

I have a pretty good feeling this wont turn out right. You cant activly compete when your QB runs as much as most teams starting RB's and cant pass. Doesnt help either that he came from the NCAA face it almost ever col. coach that comes in fails, coaching in the NFL is a whole other game.

Who's to say Schaub will not be the starter? New coach could go with the younger QB.
