Notre Dame's defense remains its liability. DL Victor Abiamiri and safety Tom Zbikowski make plays, but the Irish don't have enough athletes on that side of the ball. The offense is a different story. Quarterback Brady Quinn is special. The senior is poised and unflappable in the pocket. The ND offensive line has not played up to its potential, so he's had to. Quinn's chemistry with wide receiver Jeff Samardzija produces big plays, which the Irish will need to stay with LSU. The Tigers' dominant defensive line, anchored by Glenn Dorsey, will keep the pressure on Quinn. Safety LaRon Landry is an eraser in the secondary. With weapons like Early Doucet, LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell has the playmakers to hurt the Irish. Considering LSU's edge in team speed, the pressure will be on Quinn and Co. to score.

I really need this game to have a chance at the pick em challange. I put 32 on LSU. I just don't see ND hanging with them in this one. Personally, I hope ND gets embarrased every time they play in one of these BCS games. They don't deserve to be there IMHO

I'm pulling for ND but I expect LSU to take care of them as ND's defense is pretty pitiful. The only reason I think ND has any shot is Weis being given a lot of time to game plan for LSU's defense could have ND's offense firing on all cylinders.

Not looking good for the Irish. Seriously, they had no business being in this game.

Once again, the hype machine gets ND in a big bowl game with a big payday.

Well that will give them a record. But its only 9. If the hype machince continues next year it will be 10.
Congrats ND you stand alone in the most consecutive bowl losses in college football history.

I hope Weis goes to New York after Coughlin gets fired. Anything that hurts the Irish makes me smile.

Honestly, LaRon Landry didn't show me anything tonight. I thought i'd see him hovering around the ball every play, just didnt come away that impressed. I'd have thought he would have gotten up for this game.

I kinda hope weis sticks around. Something about that guy and the way he treats people rubs me the wrong way. Did you guys see the 60 minute interview with him? He came across as a big time ass. I'm really interested to see how the Jimmy Clausen/Wies relationship develops. Apperently, when Clausen showed up for his recruiting visit he (his family) hired a limo to take him to Campus.

My greatest fear is that the Raiders take Russell. Not scared of Quinn. with his slow setup and slow delivery, he will get stomped before the fade ever get an OL

I agree, Russell definetly looked the better of the two QB's tonight, by far.

No not really. I had interuptions all night long. I just need to turn the phone off when something important like a bowl game is on. Bowe was OK, Douglas was great. I thought Highsmith had a good game. Landry did not have to do much, but laid the wood a couple of times.

from what i saw, his blitzes were all on run plays. he made some good plays in pass defense though.

my parents taped the game so im going to watch it tomorrow. apparently my dad wasnt able to stop it between plays so it will take a while and i guess he missed a bunch of plays and its only teh second half but whatever, seeing it in person was amazing.
oh and i think the ND fans knew they would lose too, id say there were only 15k to 20k fans out of 77k fans. they werent out tailgating, its like they felt they should go just out of the necessity of somebody filling the seats. now, some of them are claiming the holier-than-thou academics excuse. we had the academic heisman last year, rudy niswanger and have had a bunch of academic-athletic highlights. sad day to be a ND fan.

Never should have been in that game either. A CU team whose only loss was @Lincoln to the Nat'l Champs against an unranked ND team.1994 had some amazing college football teams. Nebraska was obviously great, but Penn State should have gotten at least a share of the title.
At #3 was a stacked 1-loss CU team with Kordell Stewart, Rashaan Salaam (the guy was a stud in college), Michael Westbrook, Rae Carruth (a scumbag, yes, but good college WR), Christian Fauria, Matt Lepsis, Chris Naeole and Tony Berti on offense.
The defense had a sick linebacker corps led by Ted Johnson, Matt Russell (he was fun to watch), and Greg Jones. Chris Hudson won the Thorpe Award as a corner, and the defensive line had two really good players in Shannon Clavelle and Darius Holland.
Hell, Miami finsihed 6th that year and had NFL HOFers Warren Sapp and Ray Lewis on defense.

are u kidding me? There is so much slobber for this over rated team. Look at their bowl record the last 13 years! They suck yet NBC and media think they are the NCAA darlings. They need another tutor to get them at least one easy (sluty) win. They are sooooo over rated it is sick. They will find a way to stay independent, play all the service schools including adding the Fighting Merchant Marines for 2007, lose 3 games and yet still make the BCS. USC will wallop them once again.
