Wow...I thought that is what I heard. This is really sad news....
I remember he told the crowd at Fan Fare a few years ago that he was going to be the next Prime Time. I use to joke with him and yell out "prime time" everytime I'd see him. He'd just smile and kinda laugh each time.
man.....
There seems to be conflicting reports though. I'm hearing something about a triple shooting and nothing about a limo that the post is reporting. Unless I'm hearing about two seperate murder incidents....

Nothing is being said about his lifestyle Conklin. It's much too early to speculate on what happened. It could have been random. If so it could have been any of us celebrating New Years trying to get home. I think the incident happened around 2:00am is what they are saying.

Broncos' Darrent Williams is shot dead (http://tinyurl.com/sgr6n)
By ARNIE STAPLETON, AP Sports Writer 12 minutes ago
DENVER -
Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting in downtown Denver early Monday morning, police said.
http://d.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20070101/capt.ny1301011301.broncos_williams___ny13.jpg?x=26 4&y=345&sig=lxBeEuzeYvfkoEchEXR4bQ--
In a file photo Denver Broncos' Darrent Williams shows off his new hairdo before the start of the football game against the Baltimore Ravens in Denver, Monday, Oct. 9, 2006. Williams was shot and killed early Monday Jan. 1, 2007, in Denver. (AP Photo/Jack Dempsey)
Team spokesman Jim Saccomano said police called him about 3 a.m. from the scene of the shooting and told him three people had been shot and that Williams had been killed.
Saccomano said he spoke with coach Mike Shanahan and others in the organization.
"Complete shock. We're speechless. It takes words away. A terrible tragedy," Saccomano said.
Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson said that a little after 2 a.m., the white Hummer limousine that Williams and two others were traveling in was sprayed with bullets from a vehicle that came up along its side. All three people in the limousine were hit. They were taken to area hospitals, where Williams was pronounced dead. The other victims, a male and a female, were not identified. Hours before the shooting, the Broncos lost to San Francisco 26-23 in overtime, eliminating them from the playoff race.
Williams, a second-round pick in the 2005 draft out of Oklahoma State, started nine games as a rookie due to injuries. This season, he took over as the starter for Lenny Walls alongside Champ Bailey, and was second on the team with four interceptions and tied for third with 86 tackles.
On Sunday against the 49ers, he had a sack, a forced fumble, and led the team with seven sacks.
Jackson said police were searching for the suspects and interviewing witnesses.

I do know this. The members of the Orangemane have always pulled together in good times and in bad. This is sad tradgedy for the Williams family, The Denver Broncos, and the Orangemane Community/Broncos fans. I'm sure we'll find a way to honor his life and do what we can as an online community to show our support for DW and his family......

They are talking about how he turned his life around and recently got involved with the church/working with children etc.

What the hell?
Sorry for your loss fellas/ladies.
What could he have possibly done that would justify taking his life?
An eye for an eye should be the law. If you intentionally kill someone, you should be held accountable. When do we as a race draw a line in the sand and stand up and do the right thing for those who follow the line of the law? Instead of defending those that have no reguard for life or family.
Just ridiculous!

Canuck I don't have anything in mind other than a cooridanted effort between online Broncos fans makes sense to me. Together we are stronger. It's always been that way. Things have changed in Colorado. This type of angry impersonal violence is relatively new to this state. The price of Californication.

In evry team meeting room there should be time to reflect and try to stop these young people from adopting these insane lifestyles that take them into harms way for no reason. Somehow something good should come from such horrific actions. What will it be?
Be strong. Its just senseless.
What a terrible shame. A kid that played hard and never let his size hold him down from becoming a player in the NFL. RIP Darrent.

Terrible news to wake up to on New Years Day. Darrant Williams always played with alot of heart and was a good man.
Yesterday, before the game, I attended a morning showing of "We Are Marshall" at the local movie theatre. Great movie - deals with grief and how a seemingly insignificant game of football can help a community heal from a tragedy. I hope the Broncos dedicate next season to Darrant and that their gestures give his family some comfort for their grief.

This is unbelievable. I woke up this morning and turned on the tv for noise. The local station announced the death of Williams in a drive by shooting. Not believing what I was hearing I turned KOA on and they were speaking to people who knew Williams and speaking of his life. So young, so full of promise and to die so senselessly at the hands of evil worthless people for no reason is just mind boggling. Losing a game is one thing, a cause for local sadness and depression but it's still only a game and there is always next year. For this to happen is simply tragic and sad.

DENVER (AP) -- Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting early Monday, his limousine sprayed with bullets in downtown Denver just hours after the team was elimated from the NFL playoffs.
Team spokesman Jim Saccomano said police called him about 3 a.m. from the scene and told him three people had been shot, and the 24-year-old Williams had been killed.
A little after 2 a.m., a white Hummer limousine was fired on from a vehicle that pulled up along its side, police spokesman Sonny Jackson said.
Three people in the limo were hit and were taken to hospitals, where one man was pronounced dead, Jackson said. The other man and woman who were shot were not identified.
Jackson said police were searching for suspects and interviewing witnesses.
"We have no motive yet," Jackson said. "We're hoping to talk with witnesses to find out where they were coming from, and that might give us some clues."
Saccomano said he spoke with coach Mike Shanahan and others in the organization. Hours earlier, the Broncos lost to San Francisco 26-23 in overtime.
"Complete shock. We're speechless. It takes words away. A terrible tragedy," Saccomano said.
Pro Bowl player Champ Bailey was among the players and team staff members who gathered at Denver Health Medical Center, where Williams' body was taken.
"He had a big heart and a lot of courage," said Cedric Smith, assistant strength and conditioning coach. "It's a tragedy, a complete tragedy. It's sickening."
Williams teamed with Bailey to give Denver one of the top cornerback tandems in the NFL. Williams finished the season with 88 tackles, 78 of them solo, and four interceptions.
Players and coaches are off Monday. They were scheduled to meet Tuesday before heading home for the offseason.
On Sunday against the 49ers, Williams had three tackles and returned two punts for 50 yards before leaving the game with a shoulder injury late in the second half. After the game he said he was planning to wait a few weeks before determining if he needed an operation.
In December, Williams spoke of his desire to return to his hometown of Fort Worth, Texas, this offseason to talk to kids about staying out of gangs.
Williams, a second-round draft pick out of Oklahoma State in 2005, made an immediate impact on the Broncos. He started nine times in his rookie season following a stellar college career.
The white stretch Hummer limousine sat in a snowbank beside Speer Boulevard, a main street through downtown Denver. On the driver's side, at least three bullet holes were visible near the front, and four more near the back.
Police and evidence technicians worked amid snow and ice from recent storms, using small tent-like yellow plastic markers to indicate possible pieces of evidence.

RIP Darrent...
Just found out that my niece's boyfriend (he plays FB at Mesa State over in Grand Junction) knew one of the other people who was shot. He called my sister-in-law at 3AM to tell them the news. His friend, a girl, was a friend from high school and she was shot in the head. Apparently it didn't cause any brain damage and she's doing "ok". Her parents only know that it was a drive by shooting are are not aware of anything that led up to this.

Yeah that's the idea! Give him free room and board for the rest of his life on my dime for killing people. That's unreasonable. IMO it really isn't two wrongs. It's 1 wrong, and 1 correction.
Agreed for once. If the evidence is sufficient I just can't emphasize enough how much it pisses me off that some felon is living off my taxes.
And the freaking executions, painless? WHY? Why spend so much money? My money?
Hang them, or line them up over a bridge tied together and shoot one and have the rest fall over, or bury them alive. You treat humans the way they ought to be treated, but these things aren't human, their things. Just things. They don't deserve a burial they don't deserve anything, at all. This assumes of course the evidence is overwhelming.
As for Darrent, i can't get myself to write about something I'm still trying to make sense of.

he was a good ballplayer who gave it his all and was still learning to play the position at the NFL level. he showed all of us his play-making capabilities, even when he was having a rough game. he's going to be missed on the 2007 roster. i imagine for his teammates, friends, and family, his loss is going hurt for a long time.

That is the most ignorant and racist post I have read on this board probably ever. I feel even sicker now after reading it. But hey maybe all that black on black crime isn't so bad now is it? Maybe all those dumb ****gers will just kill each other off. You are a ***KKtard, eat crap.
I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS. I'm speechless besides the fact that it was amazing to get to know you as well as well did D-Will. You will be missed on the field but more more off of it by your mother, your beautiful two kids, your family, your friends and by all the thousands of adoring fans that you probably never knew.
And now a moment of silence, let us pray
And as you journey into outerspace
may the angels help to lead the way
shine up on your soul to keep you safe
And all the friends that have passed away
Let them greet you as you pass the gates
And as you headed to the tunnel's light
I hope it leads to eternal life
RIP Darrent Williams. We will miss you.

Not a good start for the Broncos offseason. Talk about sad they blow playoffs and now a buddy has been killed. This is sad and I'm sure it wasn't Darrents fault but yet another example of how Blacks kill Blacks at an alarming rate. I'm just guessing this was A 2 bit (insert politically incorrect term) showing society what a bad ass gangmemeber they are. Until we stop Glorifying these thugs in videos and songs this is what we will get. Black culture has went from giving us Jazz to giving us killer like Snoop Dogg etc and it shows in the youth who grow up in it. Police need to go out and start shooting gangmembers every night until they are gone. We all know who they are. It's easy to find them!! They like to wear clothes and put tatoos that make them easy targets to find. I don't even need to read the story to find out the facts. We have heard the facts before so many times. The facts are this whole country has gone to hell.
The "Black culture"???...... violence.... that market is cornered by the Europeans I think... get a life!
huh??? let's try to be a little more...i don't know human....WTF!

Tatum was just quoted on KOA saying he understood there was an altercation at the club and he didn't believe DWILL had anything to do with it--wrong place, wrong time. They were close being college teammates...we do know that he is OK. The report continued to speculate that JWalk was indeed in that limo....WE NEED SOME CONFIRMATION!

God be with you Darrent, rest in peace. Prayers go out to all family and friends.

D-Will was from down here in Dallas...and Thomas Herron who died last year after the Broncos-Niners game was from Fort Worth.
Are the local Denver news stations reporting anything more on who else was in the Limo? You'd think they'd have that information by now.

Apparently, the cowards opened fire on a woman, too.
24 years old and the world at his feet and now he's gone. What an incredible waste.
There's a sickness that's overtaken this country and there doesn't seem to be any way to stop it. 20 or 30 years ago, men would have a dispute over some stupid thing and they settled things with their fists. Now they run for their guns and don't even care who gets in the way when they fire.
24 years old.
God help us all.
Rest in peace, Darrent. You will be missed.

I got to interview Darrent after the Raiders games this year and found him to be a funny, engaging young man. He made himself available to every media person. Even though he played a fine game all he could talk about was how great it was to play with Champ Bailey and to be a part of the Broncos defense.
He was a bright young star on a veteran defense. A tragic loss. He will be missed.

Truly sad, and you have to feel for his children (Darius age 7, Jaelyn age 4.).
It's a shame that someone so young and so full of life (you could tell on the field how much energy he had) is gone.

CUTTHEMDOWN, you oughta be ashamed of yourself. its tragic that you are uneducated and make stupid assumptions and generalizations. its people like you that make this world the horrible place it sometimes is. People like YOU are who commit crimes like this resulting in deaths. darrent had just talked about his intent to go back to Dallas and talk to kids about staying away from gangs and a bad lifestyle. its embarassing and degrading to the human race to know that people like you are making uneducated, racist, idiotic assumptions.
RIP DWill, your true fans, as well as your friends and family, will surely miss you. You were a ton of fun to watch and read about. Rest in Peace and prayers be with all who were touched by you.

This is a bunch of crap, i cannot believe this. These punks who killed DWill need to be caught as fast as possible. A great kid with a lot talent is gone, all because of a bunch of coward thugs. If that limo had 16 people in it, i'm shocked no one else got killed but one person. This was not a random act, our players were targeted, the killers knew who was riding in that limo. Unfreakingbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is simply UNBELIEVABLE,... but SADLY all too familiar these days. I wonder if it was the same gang that shot Joey Porter in the Ass a couple years ago in Denver? Something is rotten in Denmark thats for sure!!
Actually I'm glad we lost the game yesterday now. It would be too painful for everyone to go through a week of build up with all this hanging over everything. Now all his buddies on the team can mourn properly and support his family or whatever.

A lot of us got on him this year, but he had great heart, and he gave 100%. He had the makings of a very good CB. He had that cocky attitude that a CB needs to have. He had a short memory. He'd always come back and make a great play.

The killers knew broncos were in that limo and targeted them, these punks need to be hanged.
We don't know if the shooters knew who they were. It was a rented limo. I doubt it had "Denver Broncos" or "Football Players On Board" labelled anywhere on it. My guess is that it was punks with too much alcohol/drugs in their system got pissed over something and opened fire. 16 people in a limo is quite a crowd. A sane person is not going to mess with that, much less try to single out the football players.
Channel 9 (I believe) is reporting that there were 16 people in the limo, that only three were shot, two men and one woman. One, Darrent Williams, died. The other two, a male and a female, were also shot but not life-threatening injuries. Javon Walker was in the limo but was NOT shot.
It sucks that this happened but let's not make it worse by saying things irresponsibly.
