Let's trade all our picks to get Adrian Peterson, then get Shanahan to appear on the cover of ESPN magazine in a tuxedo next to Peterson, who'll be in a Wedding Dress, on an Alter!

It'd **** up our franchise something fierce, but damn if it wouldn't be funny.

That's the guy I have loved but he is a top 5-8 pick I think...... anyway There are 4 very good DT in this draft. Denver needs to get another wide body next to Warren.

#21 is a good spot to pick from.

Our 9-7 record is better than their 8-8.

The First 20 picks are reserved for people who did not make the playoffs.

We have the highest record of the 20 teams who did not make it to the playoffs, giving us the 20th pick overall.

Picks 20 - 30 are reserved for the 10 teams who made the playoffs, but did not make the superbowl.

Pick 31 goes to the superbowl loser, and pick 32 goes to the superbowl winner.

The draft order above is the same as on the NFL web site. Denver @ #21. According to their explanation there, picks 1-30 are based on season record. Within each record, teams that make the playoffs pick after teams that didn't (i.e., the G-men pick after all the other 8-8 teams, Denver picks before all the other 9-7 teams). And any team that gets to the Super Bowl picks either #31 or #32. If the Giants make the Super Bowl, Denver moves up to #20. Otherwise, they stay at #21...

We already have pass rushing DE's, now we need a big boy to be an everydown end, which is what Carriker is. He's also a very talented pass rusher.

Move down to around 30 and get another 3, unless Bush is still there.

SoCal is already starting his exciting draft strategies that, had many suggested moves been followed in past years by the organization, would have produced stellar drafts with multiple additional selections.

Of course, in truth, we most stayed where we were, reached for some fellow projected as a likely college FA and cut him by now.

Besides Dummervile who?

Lang? Do you realize how old he is?

And any good offense can scheme away at teams that have to rely on a DE rotation to stop the run/rush teh passer. Good offenses would have a field day with that.

Dumervil, like you mentioned. Lang probably has a couple more years. Ekuban is fairly talented pass rusher. We just signed Carlos Hall, who did well with the Titans.

Shanahans MO during the offseason has always been to use the draft for the future and use FA to address the needs of the now. If that holds true Shanahan will go S/DL/OT in the first day of the draft. In FA will try to get a pass rush DE/DT. Players like Justin Smith, Jared Allen, and Albert Hansworth will demand high dollars and will come with high risk and a player Like Simion Rice will cost less and lower risk but have a lower potenial.

I want Jared Allen here, damned be the cost!

;)

If this was a draft loaded with DE talent and we had a rich history of drafting DL then it would be different. I can't see us drafting a 1st round DE that would be any way close to the kind of the player Allen is. He's turning 25 this year and will be a force against the run and QBs for the next 5/6 years.

It would significantly upgrade our D, whereas there's a 50/50 chance that our first round pick at 21 will be a bust ala Middlebrooks/Lelie/Foster etc.

It would also weaken KC significantly as it would rob them of their best defensive player. At worst it would drive up his price for KC to resign him and force them to choose between Gonzo on a franchise tag or Allen.

A healthy Courtney Brown will NEVER happen. That guy is a bust and will never stay healthy so forget that pipe dream.

Dumervile and Ekuban are great rotational guys but neither are full time DEs.

We need TWO monster DTs and we need to immediately replace that fat piece of **** Warren and whoever is playing next to him. We need guys in the mold of Stroud and Henderson, can collapse the pocket up the gut AND play the run.

Id be content with Dumervile/Ekuban with one more DE if we had two monsters in the middle.

mattbeymvp

Watching Dumervil and Chukwurah in passing situations, they get to the outside and force the QB up into the pocket consistently. Dumervil beats his man more than I ever expected him to as well.

The problem is that there is absolutely no penetration in the middle and the opposing QB, once he has stepped up in the pocket, has all day to throw. The middle of the line is the most pressing need. We need a pass rusher.

I agree the Broncos need another DT, but I think Warren is a keeper.

If the Broncos could get another DT who can push the pocket and let Warren sit back and clean up the runner or QB.

Everyone is looking for a pass rushing DE, they are hard to find. But I think Dumerville has proved he can play in the NFL.

I think we need to address the DL exclusively in FA, and early in the draft. Justin Smith would be nice, but likely would absorb almost all of our FA money.
I think Terdell Sands would be a nice pickup. He's a monster, and might be less expensive than high profile DEs. I think we need more help on the inside than on the ends.

As far as the draft goes, I think Quinn Pitcock would be a good pick. Reminds me a lot of Castillo coming out. I'm not as worried about the OL as I am the DL. I think replacing Foster and Carlisle with Pears and Kuper is a very nice upgrade to the right side, and getting Lepsis back on the left is another.

I think we have OLs on the roster that can improve that unit, but I don't feel the same about the DL. We need a major injection of talent on the DL if we're going to improve.
