Matt Trannon on Day Two

I think this kid is an intriguing prospect. He's 6'6", 230 pounds and he runs in the 4.6 range. He was a three year letterman on the Spartan basketball team as a forward. He showed his toughness on the court by playing with a plastic mask to protect a broken jaw suffered in a game last year.

He's been solid if unspectacular in his four years, but he's shown improvement each season. This year he had three big games, two of them coming in the final two games of the year.

Classic tweener type who projects into the 6th or 7th round. I like his height and wingspan and I think he could blossom into a major receiving threat as a TE at the next level.

Tannon has the body to gain 20 pounds and be a very good tight end. He broke the MSU record for carreer receptions that was held, I believe by Andre Rison. MSU has turned had some very good receivers over the years - Rison, Muhammed, Rogers, Burris etc. so its not like he broke the record at Eastern Ontario Teachers College.

I don't know about Prothro's status but he was a great prospect till hurt. I would guess, since he has been out almost two seasons, he could be has as an UDFA.

i doubt prothro goes if saban comes(talk about a deal with teh devil) and even if saban doesnt come to bama, prothro has been out way too long. hed have to be healthy for combines but if he does come out, hed be worth drafting in the 4th really, great talent. he has good hands, great open field runner, pretty fast, and would be great in the slot. hed be in the same mold as a johnnie lee higgins, chansi stuckey, etc.

If he could be had in the 6th I would hope we somehow take him. I think he could be groomed and really blossom for us. He has the measurables at least :)
