From a segment on Broncosupdate.com

On defenses trying to confuse him

“That’s NFL defenses. They’re going to try to confuse any quarterback. Me, as a rookie, they’re going to try to blitz a little bit more and come get me and see what happens. But the offensive line has done a great job protecting me for the most part. Most of those sacks have probably been my fault. But defense is defense. I think that’s one of my strengths, being able to read things out and get rid of the ball.”

I mean, compare a Bronco's Offensive lineman's reaction to this versus the Indianapolis lineman's reaction to Peyton throwing them under the bus every he tastes dirt in a game. If nothing else, the kid knows the right things to say to the media to gain the confidence of his teammates.

I agree. The comment about the sacks is pretty classy too. I mean one of them was half his fault, but with the revolving door at RT in Foster, it would be hard as a rookie to say the wrong thing.

Then again, many of us saw his line at Vandy, so maybe he really believes they're doing a great job protecting him compared to what he was used to. :~ohyah!:

Just WOW...this kid gets it. He understands the weight on his shoulders...he's not going to deflect. The only qualifier was "probably" which again, is pretty diplomatic. Folks, this kid barring injury is going to be special. Real Special.

He's allready learned that it's Shanahan's job to call out players, at meetings. If he handles his shiat, it all falls in line. All he's worrying about is his own performance. That's maturity beyond his years.

hopefully he keeps this attitude as he gets older. i hope we never see a jay cutler press conference on ESPN, those things are never good lol

i think the golden rule of handling the media should just be "its all about me", has anyone ever gone wrong taking all the blame?

Yeah...Throw the snowballs at me...the media will try to bait players...of course...T.O. is a pirahnah that doesn't need prompting.

Jay kinda has a dual personality...I don't mean bi-polar, I mean that he understands that when you get off the field it's a different game. He will be as nice as a kitten off the field and as mean as a Tiger on it.

He doesnt need to throw foster under the bus, theres plenty of us on here that will do it for himHilarious!

The kid has been sacked 11 times in four (4) games.

Hopefully the front office can upgrade the O-line this offseason.

I just wish he could wear that visor in the Pros... Then he would look Badder than Bad-Ass!!

the revolving door at RT in Foster

He always struck me as more of a turnstile than a revolving door - it is pretty hard to move THAT quickly through a revolving door.

He could wear the clear visor - it's the tinted's that need/require doctor or prescription eye wear approval.

So far, so good. But the true judge of character will come when he has established himself and we hit a skid.

Someone needs to teach Cutler that the real team guys come out in this situation and talk about how "we had some protection issues."

LOL. I know you didn't mean it that way, but when I read this phrase, all I could think of was Terrell Owens and Clinton Portis--"It's all about me!"

Why can't he wear a tinted visor?

Why can't he wear a tinted visor?

The No Fun League says that in order to wear a tinted visor that you are required to be under prescription eyewear ie.... you have to already be wearing glasses or contacts.

Stupid - I do not understand it at all.

Why can't he wear a tinted visor?

I dont know the NFL's stance on why you cant, but I do know that LT is allowed only because he's prone to migranes and the sunlight can trigger them ??

Sodak

Maybe Jay should be prone to migranes too... ::)

I know it would help when looking off the receiver, keeping the DB's from watching his eyes.

I'm not sure why they make it on doctors approval only - pretty damn petty if you ask me.

Manning complain over being sacked? No way!

Hell, the dude complains over an incompletion, let alone being sacked or hit. Always shaking that head on the field like it wasn't his fault. He's a great one but he's very lucky to have such a classy guy like Harrison. If he had Keyshawn or TO, forget about it. They would be at each other all the time.

Cutler is showing some real moxy so far - nice to see.

You know, thinking about the tinted visor thing, I can't remember any Quarterback being allowed to were one in the NFL in the past decade. It really is a far greater advantage to the QB than the RB as it does prevent or at least impede defenders from reading thier eyes. I doubt a tendency for migraines caused by stadium lights would work as a justification for a QB the way that it does for Running Backs.

He's not mean on the field...He's just got Ice-Water in his veins. I love it.

Dan McGuire (Mark's brother) had one when he played for the Seahawks in the early 90's.

haha yeah i know. its true though, just say everything is your fault, of course you also have to deflect all the glory. TO and CP think the "its all about me" means the team is about them

as for the visor thing, they cant wear tinted ones because they want to be able to see their eyes if they are injured on the field or anything

A lot of you are pissed the bus driver doesn't back up for another shot at the guy.

I think if you sent Cutler out there with a bag of leaves at right tackle he would say essentially the same thing. "It was my fault because I know that the bag of leaves is suffering from injuries, doesn't have much of a vertical or motion off the line and I should have started running a couple of seconds earlier."
