Someone will pay this lame ass!

Notice in the article, about how Lelie has had little impact and that his tenure is done in Atlanta. Mora, Blank, and Vick now realize what all of us did!

He really made a bad mistake, patience is a virtue, he should have realized Rod was becoming #3, but in his heart he knew Javon was better, and that Rod was still better than him this year!

Sad, very very Sad!

For the sake of the Broncos lets hope he doesn't get the Millions he wants! So this can act as a detterent for all of those grass is greener guys!

Javon Walker had a 1st degree separated shoulder, bunged up wrist, but he sucked it up and played.

Lelie=wussy.

Take Lelie back to be a 3rd WR. Seriously. With Cutler, and behind Javon/Marshall, Lelie could be good. I wouldn't pay him much, but still, it'd be worth a look.

Lelie made one of the worst off the field decisions I've ever seen a player make. Instead of his silly holdout Ashley should have participated in the OTA's and played the final year of his contract with the Broncos.

He would have started the season out as the #3 WR behind Javon and Rod, but he surely would have moved back up to #2 as Rod finally showed signs of aging. He would have put up decent stats with us this year, especially when Cutler became starter.

Instead he's now the David Caruso of the NFL.

I'm just glad we have Javon Walker. He has scored almost 5 times as many touchdowns this season than Lelie has in the past two seasons combined. Next year should be even better for Javon with his knee at 100% and the young gun throwing him passes for 16 games instead of 5.

It worked out good for us though, because Marshall has emerged as a big play receiver.

It's probably out of the question due to the bridges that were burned, but I'd like to have Ash back, esp. now since we seem to be putting more of an emphasis on the vertical game with Cutler. I definitely agree with Rhyme.

I personally couldn't care less about Ashley "Lisa Leslie" Lelie. As far as burning bridges goes...I don't know if the "bridge" was completely burned, or just charred. If the rat thinks Lelie will help him win a superbowl...he'll bring him back. Ian Gold was really critical walking out the door, and Shanahan shrugged it off. It's not unprecedented.

It's not like he pulled a kennison. He's just an immature guy with a fragile ego...who took some very poor advice. Either way the Donks made out like bandits on the deal.

I don't really care about Lelie and I like our 3 WR set next year with JWalk, Marshall, and Rod in the slot. Throw in Kircus when you need a turkey sub.

I don't think Shanahan and Lelie are on bad terms. Shanahan really buys that Ashley got bad advice.

That being said I think BMarsh is going to be better than Ashley in our offense anyways and Rod will be #3 on offense next season.

I know we have not seen him yet, but I think Hixon also will be a surprise. He to, like Marshall, is just learning how to play receiver... I know, how can we say that without even having a preseason game to judge. Just call it a feeling...

If he's willing to play for veteran's minimum, I say give it a shot. I don't think he's worth much more than that--he's failed now in two franchises and don't think he has much market value. It's not even clear to me that, after Rod retires, Lelie can beat out Kircus for number 3. Kirkus makes tough catches across the middle and is a decent long ball guy. So we no longer need Lelie to stretch the field. We have Walker and Marshall to do that now. And Walker and Marshall actually catch the ball and run with it after the catch.

My cousin went to Akron and iv'e seen alot of their games and Hixon was their best player. I had hoped his injury wouldv'e healed up so that he could play this year, but that's ok, i can wait till next year. Most of you are going to be shocked at this kid's big play ability at WR and especially special teams. Can you imagine a WR core with Javon, Ashlie, BMarsh and Hixon? Just the thought of a 4 wide spread with those guys and Cutler just makes me blush all over.

As it stands now Marshall has doubled up Lelie in td's this season. He has a higher yards per reception average than Lesley too. So does Javon. They're both every bit as capable of making big plays as Ashley is, or ever will be. The main difference being both can take a short pass to the house.

I just hope that Marshall keeps improving at the same rate he has the second part of this season...until he reaches his ceiling.

Last year after Denver defeated Baltimore, most of the Broncos players celebrated the victory at the Monarch downtown and were in a festive mood. Ashley Lelie sat at the bar looking like his dog had just died twirling his straw in his rocks class with his head down. Everybody was having fun but antisocial Lelie because he didn't get the ball enough that day.

Lelie is not a team player. There are plenty of other FA fish in the sea.

id only be up for bringing him back if it was close to league minimum and he apologized to the team. from a pure on the field aspect, he would be great, just put him in every passing down and have him run deep, he sure was good at running the coverage depth post and deep post but had trouble with getting yacatch and yacontact. he has great hands, speed, and balance, i would have no issue with bringing him back if the terms were right and we all know shanahan wouldnt hold a grudge.

He's pitifull actually. He could of played here but whatever...the funny thing is that he hasn't signed a long term contract.

Where do you go with that when you have one of the top two or three arms in the NFL ready to give it to you on the fly?

I think Lelie would fit in good with the 49ers. Smith has a big strong arm and Lelie can stretch the field for them with V. Davis running in the middle Lelie could help them a lot.

I would take Lelie back to compete for the #3/4 slot. Although the word "compete" doesn't seem to be in Lelie's vocabulary.

I still can't believe the horrible decision making he made prior to this season. I have to believe he was getting bad advice and would take him back with him pleading ignorance and see if he could step up and play for a job. Maybe the kid has learned something out of all this.

I'll take him back............

But he better come cheap.

Javon/Marshall are special players. No one can take away Lelie's ability to be a deep threat, not constant but still a deep threat

Bunged up her shoulder trying to add to her 28 receptions she has had this year.

I kept hoping Ashley would come to his senses, but he didn't and now its time to turn the page. There are superior receivers out there, with far better attitudes.

On one hand, I would almost absolve Ashley because the current culture among NFL receivers seems to celebrate being a selfish abrasive asshole. Except, Rod Smith is the antithesis of that attitude, so it not like Lelie didn't have a role model.

I would hate to see him come back. I could see Marshall bodyslamming him like Sharpe did Anthony Miller.

Because he is eligible for unrestricted free agency, Lelie can depart Atlanta in the spring, and the Falcons will receive no compensation.

Let's resign him and screw the Skins again by trading him there for a couple more draft picks. ;D

I don't think so. Rod can play well in the red zone, an area where Lelie is useless....among others.

No thanks. Javon is #1, we'll let Marshall compete with Rod for #2, Kircus, Hixon, and Clark are good competiton for 4 and 5, ideally along with another 2nd day draft steal a la Marshall.

12-28-2006, 10:53 AM
I'd take Lilly if he was contrite and agreed to play for peanuts until he proved he was worth a damn. Gold held out for a billion dollars and we welcomed him back the year after with open arms.

With Rocket Man, Lelie could finally just use his speed and become the one dimensional player he wants to be.

Turf Shaman
12-28-2006, 11:33 AM
It would be nice to bring in a Lelie-like reciever... someone who can stretch the field and make nice catches on deep throws. If Marshall develops into the type of player we expect him too, both him and Walker will be drawing a lot of attention, and the Broncos passing game would be SCARY if they could add a player like this. But it can't be Lelie. How has he not burned his bridges here? I guess agreeing to resign here as a #3 or #4 reciever could be considered an act of contrition, of sorts. Honestly, I think they can find a reciever in the draft who could fill that role. Maybe even with the pick they got in this trade.

Broncomutt
12-28-2006, 11:45 AM
I think we are pretty good at reciever right now. Walker and Marshall are fast recievers who can run after the catch.

Sheffler seems to have good chemistry with Cutler, and good hands too.

Bring Rod back next year as a 3rd down and red zone possesion reciever (and veteran leadership).

Why would we need a guy like Lelie? Can't operate in the red zone, can't catch a ball in the middle of the field, can't be relied upon in clutch situations. Oh, and have you ever seen Lelie catch a deep ball without falling down? Absolutely no ability to gain YAC.

Every pass to Lelie would be one less to the real playmakers.

I hate to say it, but if the price is right, and the stupidity is washed out, I would welcome him back. It was a blessing in disguise honestly. We got some young guns for Jay and some picks....now it looks like he's failed in Atlanta and will be let go. Who knows...Atlanta is in turmoil.

maybe if his nephew was a receiver he woulda thrown it in. I'd take ashley back, hell I argued against ashley on a lot of places. infact I'm finding that happens quite a bit recently. I've argued against tatum and now I'll end up arguing for him because the pendulum has swung so wildly, same w/ ashley. and in a weird way this is all because of cutler. cutler has made looking at the jake era w/ anything but scorn like a crime.
