View Full Version : Here it is Wednesday and we are yapping about playoffs, what about the SF game
I sure hope Shanahan and the players are not overlooking SF the way we seem to be.
We better find a way to get better play out of both lines or we may just lose hits game and then it won't matter where NE or B' more are seeded.

If we can't handle them at home we don't deserve to be in anyway. What's to fret about?

I don't think it matters one way or another what we do. We can look ahead to the Superbowl and it won't affect Sunday's game.

what we do as fans has no effect on the players
if you don't think Shanny will have his players ready, then you haven't been watching him coach the past 11 years ;)

All Im thinking about when it comes to this game is, when we are up 24-0 by halftime, should I take off and head for the poker tourney, which starts at 5, or should I stay and enjoy our last home game of the year?

You mean as online fans I'm sure that's what you meant? Been to plenty of games both home and on the road and was lucky enough to have a seat behind the Broncos bench. It's very common for the players to start waving their arms up and down trying to get the crowd going. Even heard them yell at the crowd to get them fired up. If Broncos fans didn't matter they wouldn't bother.
As for your statement Baja I agree with you and said the same thing earlier this week. There is no guarantee on any given Sunday of a win. This team should come out ready though based on what I saw during the Cincy game although that game could have gone either way and this place would have melted down already. Glad it didn't.

I agree with Mock. If we lose another stinkin home game we don't deserve to be in the playoffs

My point is we are talking like we are already in the playoffs - unless we beat SF we are not!

we match up well with the niners
they have no good WRs and only Frank Gore
one thing Coyer can do, if a team doesn't have a passing game, he can shut down a running game

I know you don't want to back in the playoffs with a loss to SF

mark it down, quote it, do anything you want with this
we are not losing to a bad SF team who has nothing to play for, who will be playing without good WRs and in the cold and snow

They are coming up the gut with Frankie. Rudi had success there. We are quick to the outside but light in the middle. Need Warren to "fatten" up and stuff some holes. Engleberger has good run stuffing abilities. We need 8 in the box. I would play the best safetly at run support, whether it is Paymah, Cox, Hamza.
That shuts down the run, so then they come after Darrent all day long.
We need to blitz on third and long - which they'll be in all day long. Need to rattle Alex Smith and get off the filed - better yet cause turn overs. Can't afford to get worn down by the run or by the fourth quarter it could get ugly. O needs to score early and often. If SF is forced to play catch up - game over. Gold needs to cover the rookie TE well. He is the go to guy.

I might agree if the Niners team was made up of vets who've been losing for years. It's not. It's made up of a bunch of very talented young players who believe in the future. They'll play their hearts out. The Broncos better be ready.

Exactly. Try to stop it Frank Gore. Sorry SF fans, but no one is scared of Alex Smith and Arnaz Battle (Especially with Champ on him) Bryant is still suspended.

I am scared to death. I recall the lowly Tampa Bay Buccaneers coming into Mile High in December of 1993 and ruining that squad's chances at a home playoff game.

Goog points - I would love to see Coyer be more agressive on the blitz cause we will need it in the playoffs should we get there. If blitzing causes us to lose the SF game so be it we are not going anywhere without a pass rush as had been pointed out a gazellion times

we have a lot of hungry guys on our team too, along with the best coach in the NFL, so I'll take our chances and marke this one down as a W :)
The only way we lose is if we come out flat but that has never happened has it Shack.

I am sure Shanahan has this team focused. An early score, and wouldn't be surprised if 49ers began to go thru the motions.

We'll just get done watching KC squeak one out.
If SF hangs around - or scores first, there will be some nervous folk around here come half time. I need a 14 point lead at half (a KC loss that morning, would also help) so I can enjoy the game and not be a wreak come New Years Eve party time.

That's your problem right there. It isn't "we". We are fans, we are not the Bronco players. "We" can say whatever we want and has no effect on how "they" play.

They are coming up the gut with Frankie. Rudi had success there.
The reason Rudi had success is because the Broncos were in the nickel all but a handful of plays. The 49ers don't have the talent at WR to cause that line up on defense.

That's the key. Coyer was willing to let Rudy have success to protect against the big passing plays. He won't be comparably afraid of the SF passing game.

Since its not good to be positive and look ahead...................We are going to get steamrolled at home by the niners. Our season is over why should i bother to even watch the game?

I guarantee the Broncos are focused, what I find odd, I'm the negative one, is it some sort of sign when I am more positive than usual?

Rudi had success because the Broncos were aware of the Bengals WR's. The Niners have no threat at the WR positions. Bryant is out, and Battle is nothing to fear. Eight in the box to stuff Gore. No need to blitz the Niners.
