It's going to be dependent upon where the Low hits. From the forecasts I've been watching locally, if it hangs out close to the Colorado southern border, we could get walloped again. If it tracks further south (toward Oaklahoma), we could be spared being smacked around.

But, boy, if it hits again, that's gonna suck. And I love SNOW big time! It's just that they still haven't come to plow my street yet. We can get around but it's a bumpy ride. More snow just means I'm going to get stuck at home again!

Yeah, the early computer models say we're going to get hit again on Thursday, but it could be anywhere from 3 inches to two feet.

Here we go again! We are having another blizzard like last week weather. Since I live about 50 miles east of CS. The snow always hit my area with heavy wind, heavy snow, and white out since the wind/blizzard coming from west then it continue east. Then, where am at. I couldn't see nothing last week. I probably expected to see white out, close roads, heavy wind with snow.

There is some concern that the 49ers might have difficulty getting in...or, for that matter, out of Denver.

I chatted with a staff writer for the San Francisco Chronicle today who said the team was scrambling to get out here before a possible shut-down of the airport...meaning the 49ers probably have to arrive tomorrow.

Denver's storm was upgraded to a winter storm warning as of this evening (Wed), with snow expected in the 4 to 6 inch range Thursday evening & a possible 8-12 inches or more Thursday night into Friday.

To add to the complications, the expectations are for 30 mph winds with gusts to 50 mph Thurs night & Friday.

IF the 49ers can't get here, the situation raises some very interesting questions...Everyone I talked to is guessing they might have to play the game Monday Night IF the 49ers can't get here until Sunday.

As I understand it, the 49ers are trying to charter out for a plane to arrive here some time Thursday afternoon...which makes for a hell of a long week for that franchise.

Stay tuned. This could be interesting.

Hey all, I'm glad this thread was made because I need some major help.

I'm supposed to be visiting my girlfriend this weekend for NYE. I was supposed to fly into Denver Saturday morning. Now, that is looking like a bad idea. To change my flight would have cost me 600 bucks.

But then I had the bright idea to just schedule a one-way ticket to Denver for tomorrow, and I'd still be able to use my return ticket to Albuquerque on January 1st. I'd have to no-show (and eat) the ticket for Saturday, but it's about half the price of changing my flight.

So my question is this:
I've got two options for tomorrow. Arrive in Denver at 8:30 AM, or arrive in Denver at 12:30 PM. Which should I take? I realize the earlier will probably be better, but would it be that much of a difference if I take the 12:30 flight?

Any help in the matter would be appreciated.

The forcasters still aren't positive what time the really heavy winds & snow might begin, although pm rush hour is expected to become a nightmare, so the earlier arrival...the better.

Even so, noon or inside an hour of that time frame shouldn't be a problem...I say 'shouldn't' be a problem, but no-one is 100% sure when this thing kicks into high gear.

Hey Wabbit, here's another question:

Would it be possible to stick with my Saturday flight plan, or would I really be tempting fate and risking the whole trip? It seems (at least in some of the reports I'm getting) that the heavy snow will be Thursday night and Friday. Could I miss it by sticking to my Saturday flight?

If the forcasters are right...and I do say 'if' (Colorado forcasters don't have the best track record for accuracy)...Denver faces the same situation...give or take 5 inches of snow...we faced last week.

IF that is the case...chances are the airport might have to close down.

At the very least, flight delays & cancellations will be long & numerous once the storm sets in.

If there's a chance to get in early tomorrow...I'd take it.

After that, it's a gamble...and make certain you have transport once you're here too...the cab and rental car companies are warning folks they're already becoming pre-booked.

Its not bad over here yet. Just enough to cover the roads. I think were gonna call it off. If the storm is a dud we may make a run at it on Saturday. Monarch is actually just reporting snow packed in spots & Icy in spots....that usually means its not bad. Hey bud. I'm not sure where you're driving from, but unless you're literally nearing Denver right this moment, don't take the chance.

Nothing is happening at this minute, but that is deceiving. The National Weather Service AND the local hacks are warning of quickly deteriorating conditions within the next two to four hours with heavy snow and gusting winds...whiteout.

Unless your trip is an emergency, don't take the risk.

At the very least, hang loose a while longer to see if it develops as forcast.

I talked with a very respected meteorologist 45 minutes ago. He said computer models never agree on anything...today, they do...first time.

It's going to get very nasty very fast.

I talked with my friend at a local television station early this morning & he said it's 100% certain this will develop into a major winter storm, although there is some debate about snow amounts and when the blizzard winds will kick in...some say this afternoon, another said tonight & tomorrow.

Regardless, substantial snow is likely...I'm not a 100% kind of guy given the track record of forcasts in this area...and a two-three hour travel time is taking a big, big risk.

I've been trying to find out if the 49ers are here already...or, on their way, because if they're not, there's a good chance for one of two things.

1) they could conceivably get stuck at the airport. Granted, this scenerio would require white-out blizzard conditions, but those conditions are forcast.

2) the charter flight could conceivably be diverted from Denver if the flight doesn't arrive in the next 4 to 5 hours.

Snow started falling across the Denver area at mid-morning Thursday, with the 11 a.m. update from the National Weather Service predicting depths of eight to 18 inches in Front Range cities by Friday morning -- and airlines already were canceling flights in and out of Denver International Airport.

The metro area should get a breather Friday morning, but two to four inches is still possible across the Eastern Plains -- with more in the foothills, the service said.

And there's more. The National Weather Service there's a potential for heavier snow redeveloping again from Friday night through Sunday if the system stalls out.

Im looking seriously at heading out fairly early tomarrow and just going slow & steady. Depends on what the weather does over night. Its been snowing here fairly steady for awhile now but not really that hard.

If you do, let us know how the roads are. I may be going in your direction if it clears at all.

Just drove back from Wadsworth/Hampden area to Tech Center. Much worse in Tech Center right now and snowing hard. Beginning to get very slick in lower traffic areas. Will be a real mess in an hour. Folk must not have run out of stupid pills during last week's snow, because there are plenty of idiots running around out ther now.

LOL LOL LOL

Best reply I've seen on this board in a long time. A Lieutenant Dan reference, classic.

Anyways, I've been trying to follow the storm as close as possible. I almost bought an emergency ticket last night to fly to Denver today to beat it, but my girlfriend's mother told me just to fly in Saturday afternoon, and not Saturday morning.

So after spending an hour on hold (literally) this morning with Frontier Air, I'm coming into Denver on Saturday afternoon. HUGE props to Frontier for waving their flight change fee due to the impending snow. I generally fly with them anyways, but they earned themselves a customer, that's for sure. They could have really cashed in, but they didn't.

I am going to be so bent if I can't see my girl and use my Nuggets tickets this weekend.

I'm not sure what you're talking about.

I just watched an update on TV a minute ago and the Winter Storm Warning is still in effect. We're still expecting heavy snow to be measured "in feet". The guy said the snow might even continue into Sunday morning with brief pockets of relief (no snow) over the next couple of days. But by no means is this going to be a dusting with little to worry about.

I say stay your ass home if you don't need to venture out. I've been shoveling my walk out in Highlands Ranch every hour since after lunchtime, and every time I go out there's more snow than the last time.

Its been snowing here all day not huge amounts just steady. The roads are all now snow packed & Icy in spots. Really ****y in town. While you wont have to go over Monarch last I saw it was closed to commercial traffic and only chains or 4x4 were being allowed over.

It is bad, and, from what I'm hearing & seeing on the tube, we can expect snow-in varying degrees of intensity-into the early morning before a break.

Then a second wave kicks in tomorrow afternoon-evening...along with wind.

No-one is even certain now how long this will last.

The NWS believes it will lighten up overnight Friday...Channel 9, KUSA predicts snow & snow showers possibly into Sunday.

I visited a King Soopers & Albertsons this afternoon to find huge gaps in the shelves...Soopers was out of eggs altogether, ALbertsons only had gallons of the generic milk.

That was only two stores however.

Liquor stores seem well stocked however...so it's not all bad.

Thanks for the report Hotrod. I am hearing exactly what Wabbit just posted, so if you have to make the trip, pick you spot and be careful.

If you do come, would appreciate an update on the roads. About 90% sure we are not going now, but I may need to make a run up there mid week just to make sure all is OK. Will need propane before the end of January. They only plow are little road when the plow driver wants to pad his overtime, so I could need to wade through half mile of waist deep frozen and refrozen snow to check it out. Cross country skis are up there of course.

Plows don't work in culdesacs. You need a bobcat or front loader. Or you dig yourselves out. Best of luck to you.

Well, I guess that explains it! But one never did run down the joining road this week, either.

Luckily, I do have some neighbors with big trucks and SUVs who love to smash through drifts. Unfortunately, this time around, the old, hard snow will still be underneath the new piles. I doubt they're gonna want to test which drift is "soft" new snow and which ones still have the "hard" old snow underneath!

Ugh.

But I love the snow. I'm not complaining. The only downside is I work from home. My office is in the basement. So, while everyone else gets a "snow day" off from work, the day's no different for me than if it were sunny and 80 degrees outside. *sigh*

If I remember right, the league doesn't postpone games for weather. If a team doesn't get to the stadium it's a forfeit. Remember the 97(?) Buffalo game. That was the deal there...get to the stadium by kickoff or you lose. No make up games.
I don't see why it would be different now. 49ers may not think so but they better be bookin.

Fortunately for our sons, one of our neighbors came over with his tractor and plowed our driveway/parking area. It snowed again yesterday, but then turned to rain... then today it got way colder, so all that slush froze, which made clearing the driveway very difficult. Of course, the boys could have shoveled yesterday, but it ended up that there was a benefit to procrastinating (they got out of doing it LOL).

Here close to Memphis we are getting just rain. (good thing b/c we are 13 inches below normal). no snow to speak of but it is early we will probably have a freak snow/ice storm come February. I was at Denver when one day it was 60 degrees and then bam a blizzard and the airport was backed up b/c of United strike plus blizzard. I am downtown and I can see the pavement on broadway and colfax. I shoveled my driveway twice lastnight which was maybe 4 or 5 inches worth and again this morning which was maybe 1 inch tops, and it hasn't accumalated since.

Man, the snow really has tapered down here in Highlands Ranch. Not much accumulating at all now. I shoveled four hours ago and I don't even have a quarter inch again. I ventured out in my AWD Matrix and got out of the neighborhood. If it wasn't for the damned "trenches" that the meltoff from last week had cut at the intersections, the drive to the main road would have been a piece of cake. The main roads aren't too bad down here...a bit slick and slushy, but otherwise passable.

I think we've seen the worst of it. Game shouldn't be affected at all for Sunday.

I would show up at the MIL place without the family. Sometimes in life you have to thin the roster for whatever reason. this time it's a sick kid and wife to take care of him. That'll teach the little guy to catch a cold. Damn little crum snatchers. :)

Not in this case my MIL is one awesome lady. She loves me and spoils me on a regular basis. They joke around saying that I'd never leave my wife because I'd lose my MIL also ;D

Yes, the 9ers arrived today.

Not certain when, but the local press says they skated to a stop sometime around noon.

Thanks, W. I figured since a number of flights are arriving/taking off at DIA they would make it.

I'd say we have the better part of two feet here at the top of Monument Hill.

This is the time of year where there's chunks of ice about a foot square rolling around on the roadways ready to take your muffler out. There's another storm on the way, also.

I'm still getting nasy wind, snow storm, white out. Ugh. Also, it's look like Sunday afternoon we'll have ourself a little sunshine and cloudy since Snow Storm will clear up by then for Denver vs 49ers game according to KKTV but i dunno about the roads since it will be icy. I hope so cause all NFL games on final season will be important. I do not know if 49ers in Denver now or not.

Yoder is a small town just south of Fort Wayne Meck. Also if you go to LaGrange County where I grew up you could find quite a few Yoder's.
Come on in to Indiana and I'll introduce you to a few cute Amish girls.:thanku: :thanku:

Yep. I ****ing hate snow so much. Was supposed to have a nice NYE in Denver with my girlfriend. Was supposed to be sitting courtside @ the Nuggs game on Sunday.

Come to find out today, as my girl is crying over the phone, that she had a surprise activity for us... That activity being the Bronco game before the Nuggs game.

Can't believe I'm snowed in my house in Albuquerque by myself for the rest of the weekend. Also can't believe that the girl is crushed, and now has to cancel hotel and dinner reservations.

This is not supposed to happen in New Mexico!

I'm here in town drunk off my ass. Yup. I'm posting drunk. Can you tell the difference? Six shots of Canadien Mist, six pack of Guiness, a bottle of Pech Menal, three shots of Captain Morgan....whooo weee!

I am sick of being stranded in Colorado. I can't see anyone from the Mane and getting caught up on my Audie Murphy movies. No worries. I'm heading to California as soon as the airport opens up.

FYI: I have two sets of seasons tickets for the Bengals and the person who was watching my tickets lost them. Wait. No kiddding. LOST THEM!?! How the **** did that happen? No worries. The San Fran tickets were sold so who know what's up. I might have to hit up the scalpers. Sux!

It's too bad. I was looking forward to showing my face.

Sassy

Yikes QT...how can you lose tickets?

Here comes the rain/sleet/snow in ND...suppose to be freezing rain through tomorrow night and possibly 6 inches...treacherous night for NYE. Not to mention if they pick you up for a DUI this weekend...they won't let you post bond until AFTER your court date...which is Tuesday...just doing that for this weekend.
