Christmas in Spokane…
Sorry about the late Blog I just got home tonight from Spokane. I spent Christmas with my kid Brother David. (See photos below. I’m the good looking one. I had a great time with him believe me I just wasn’t smiling okay?)
I wish my Brother had NFL Sunday Ticket like I do but since he doesn’t we had to go to a Sports Bar in Spokane to watch the Broncos Sunday. The name of the Bar was “Heroes & Legends.” If you are into Sports Bars and you visit Spokane I recommend it, cool place many big screens, good beer, great wings and cute waitresses.
St. Louis forgot he played for Cincinnati…
I guess the big play that sticks in the brain for me and probably for every other Broncos Fan was the botched snap by the Bengals Center Brad St. Louis. Two days later and I still can’t believe it. Like Broncos lineman Kenard Lang said "That only happens on PlayStation games, I'm sitting there amazed."
Kyle Larson the holder just had no shot, even if he’s lucky enough to catch the ball he probably wouldn’t have been able to get it to the ground in time for Shayne Graham to kick it. My guess is the kick gets blocked anyway.
Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good. It reminded of Broncos games of old.
As the Bengals lined up to kick the Extra Point I heard a Broncos Fan sitting next to us say, “Throw a snow ball!“ Maybe some of you remember the 49ers game in 1985 when 49ers Kicker Ray Wersching missed a short FG because a Denver Fan hurled a snowball from the stands that landed near the holder right as Wersching was about to attempt the kick. No snow ball this time just a bad snap that’ll go down in Broncos lore as one of biggest special team blunders ever in the Mile High City. I bet St. Louis wished someone had thrown a snowball it would have been a better excuse than the alternative that’s for sure.
Turnovers go the Broncos way but Tatum needs some stick ‘em…
The Broncos won the turnover battle 4-2, despite Tatum laying a gigantic turd that really hurt since it was such a close game. In two consecutive games now he’s fumble twice deep in Broncos territory that lead to 2 TD’s. In this game it was far more costly fumble than the Cardinals game. Tatum better get a gripe literally if he wants more playing against the 49ers or the playoffs if we make.
Champ is the greatest…
Champ was well…Champ again, making another critical INT and then recovering the Chad Johnson fumble. The guy is All-Universe right now, to me he’s hands down the Defensive MVP of the entire league. BTW, C. Johnson 3 catches 32 yards, 1 fumble, in other words Champ can rightly say “OWNED!”
Foxworth is Worthy, Lynch is Warrior & Marshall is Superstar in the making…
How about Foxworth? What a great game he played, 12 tackles, 1 forced fumble and was so wiped out that in the locker room after the game he was hyperventilating.
Lynch make have lost a step in coverage but what he lacks there he brings in big hits and intimidation. The big shot he laid on Rudi Johnson that caused a fumble being the most important. He still is one of the toughest Warriors in the game.
Brandon Marshall guys, is the real deal each week he gets better and better. Now that we have a QB that can deliver the ball, look for Marshall to blossom into a Super Star next season for sure.
As for Jay, he’s the man, 8 TD’s in 4 games. Jake had 11 in 11 games. If you read my blog regularly I said a few weeks ago that Cutler could throw more in 5 than Plummer did in 11, as crazy as it sounds I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he throws 4 against the weak 49ers secondary.
I loved how Jay handled himself after the early INT and sacks and still made plays when the Broncos needed him too.
What a great game and season, the Broncos left for dead in week 12 by many are now one game from the playoffs. Yes they need to run the ball better and get more of a pass rush but this team is hot and confident. I like our chances right now. Anything is possible we just have to take them one at a time.
I’m glad the Chargers have home field advantage, I think in game 3 if we get to meet them in the playoffs we can take them this time. I hope all the people who jumped off the bandwagon when Jake got yanked have jumped back on again. This may be one of the coolest rides ever guys. Bring on the 9ers, I believe.
