I love our FS/SS, but we need to get someone groomed to replace Lynch and Fergason. Who do you guys like? I like the guys from Miami and Texas (i, think FS's?) Anyone know anything about the FS from Hawaii? Watched him in the Hawaii bowl, 5th yr senior, said he would be a combine freak and ran a 4.3 40. He looked great during the game, lays some big wood, and busted up the middle for some sacks (palamalu style). He is 6'1 215lbs, looks pretty good, maybe a 3rd pick.

1. Reggie Nelson, FL - doubt he slides to mid 20's - so probably dreaming.
2. Michal Griffin, Tex - likely to be about where we will pick, he and Laron Landry are the only other S's I would like in the first.
3. Most likely spot for a value S pick, imo, will be the early 3rd pick from the Skins. I would like Eric Weddle from Utah. The other option, although I haven't seen much of him would be Aaron Rouse from Va. Tech. Hopefully some one more informed on him will chime in. Measurements and natural abilities may exceed his production...

i have heard a lot about Weddle, Nelson, and Griffin. Miami seems to always have good safeties in the NFL!

I had to ask a few people about Weddle and now people are projecting him after his performance in the Armed Forces Bowl and some are saying as high as the first-round. The guy is an excellent team player, plays multiple positions on offense, holds and can play either safety position. Seems like a logical pick for the Patriots who have a history of taking team players who can just play ball through the draft.

Rouse is an interesting prospect, doesn't have fluid hips in coverage though which sort of hinders his ability to make some plays. Haven't seen much of VT, but that's what I've seen and heard as well.

gattis outta wake forest could be a nice day two guy. req mentioned rouse's hips, that comes with the territory of being 6'4 but i personally would rather just have a regular sized safety who can cover. landry would be great because he is huge and would be able to cover TEs and fast enough to cover receivers, he is also a great blitzer. he has some issues with his hips and that is likely why he is projected in the late first but he has tons of experience(started since freshman year and played just about every snap i think) andwould be a huge addition to our team, likely a first year starter.

LaRon Landry would fill the most glaring need.

he has the physical presence of lynch(benches like 400 pounds) but would also be better in coverage. as for blitzing, he would be even better than lynch was last year, it seems like he has a knockout shot atleast every other game on QBs. the guy is amazing and would be great here IMH(omer)O. seriously though, i would love to have him but i think he rockets up the boards after combines.
