How a team wins games says more about their true level of talent and ability more than anything else.
The Colts started off 9-0 but their wins against teams were ugly and their recent slide should have came as no surprise to anybody who knows what they're talking about.
If the ultimate goal at this point is still to win a championship or make a deep playoff run, than wins like the one yesterday should be a concern.
It's not that people aren't happy the Broncos won, it's that they're worried about the prospects for the post season.

I don't think it's a Broncos fan thing per say Spider. I've been scratching my head about this subject even when we were winning earlier in the season.
The thing with messageboards is it only takes one person to start a controversial thread topic and boom it's on. Not to mention you have people typing behind monitors who say **** that they would never say in person. All this adds to messageboard madness. Take 100 Broncos fans and stick them around a BBQ and everything is fine. Hand 100 Broncos fans a keyboard and get the hell out of the way. ;D
The good thing is our QB controversy if over and I think finally everyone is on the same page. We all want a Broncos win.

Let's make an analogy to explain this phenomenon.
If your best friend starts picking up the ugliest, most obnoxious girls you've ever seen would you say something? If he goes out to the bar and picks up some girl who you cannot stand, but still scores would you pull him aside and ask him what the hell was wrong with him?
Or would you be like "GOOD JOB BUDDY, YOU STILL GOT SOME!"?

Hold up, this isn't our problem, it's Cincy's problem. They can't convert an extra point and the Broncos are questioned because of it?!?! That's on them. People are acting like that extra point was worth two points and we would have lost it right there, or that Cincy was a shoe in to win it in OT. The Broncos played a good team and won. Cutler got his first good win, and he played well. Be happy the Broncos are on the winning side of that game. It's better for us than Cincy fans.

Ok chief. Again, if I have no credibility then it should be easy to counter any specific argument I make. This rarely happens here, does it? So either Orange Mane is full of classless people or morons who cannot respond to somebody who is clueless about football. Take your pick.

The more I think about it look at TIME Magazines person of the year. They gave it to people on the internet ie YouTubers etc. Never before has one person in their basement been able to speak to thousands of people with a couple clicks.
Anyone on the planet can waltz into the Mane and pretend to be a Broncos fan, tell us how much they know about football, tell us how much Shanny should be fired etc. We have no idea if a user name is even a Broncos fan for crying out loud. So I stand by what I said earlier. The problem doesn't lie within Broncos fans. It's a messageboard thing. This place is fool of trolls whether they are Broncos fans or not. It's not that people aren't happy the Broncos won, it's that they're worried about the prospects for the post season.
In today's NFL it's all about winning. There are no more "super teams" that will blow out a number of teams that they play. The Pats are a perfect example. They didn't blow out very many teams. There were a number of games where they were just average, but found a way to win. They won ugly all the time. But they won. That's pretty much what the Broncos did last year. They won ugly, and went 13-3 and made it to the AFC Title game.
You also have to remember that they were playing a pretty good team who was fighting for their playoffs lives. Did you expect them to just roll over for the Broncos? Or for the Broncos to just blow them out of the building? I don't view the Broncos as a Super Bowl contender this year (next year will be a lot different), but they are a pretty good team, who played another pretty good team. The game went the way it was expected to go. A dog fight to the end. In that type of game a team just needs to get out of there with a win, looking good or ugly.

I love how the people that are not delusional enough to believe the Broncos are Superbowl contenders every freaking year are labled as not being 'Bronco Fans'...
If thats the case I think I should start calling the people that seem to think we are a rock solid Superbowl quality team year in and year out 'Bronco Fools'.
This team will be destroyed and exposed in the Playoffs just like every year. There have too many holes for people to exploit, two of those holes just happen to be the core of a football team (Offensive + Defensive line).
Some of you need to understand the goal is not to make it in the playoffs year in and year out just to see your team play one or two more games. The goal is to win the Superbowl, and anyone that believes that this team has a chance at that is insane or a 'Bronco fool'.
Maybe next year, if we can actually get some of our needs addressed, but this year there is no way in hell. If being realistic and not living in :puff: land means im not a Bronco fan then WTF ever...

To answer your question, Spider, nothing happened to Bronco fans. There have been a wide spectrum of Bronco fans throughout their long and storied history.
Knowledgeable fans and clueless fans. Fans who watch every play and scrutinize every player and fans who regard the game as largely secondary to the social events they plan around it.
Its fairly obvious a group of fans standing around before a game are going to break things down to their simplest terms, e.g. "Go Broncos!"
People who are afforded the leisure of interacting on a message board can devote a little more thought into things and actually formulate a discussion.
Free form discussions open to people of all levels of intelligence, experience and motivation are not going to be as linear as the neighborhood campfire circle jerk.
Its more like trying to walk three cats while drinking a beer.
Naturally, differences of opinions based on facts can be ritualistically dismissed over primitive bonding rituals, but what does one endeavor have to do with the other?
Nothing. Troglodytic insistence to the otherwise duly noted.

The good thing is our QB controversy if over and I think finally everyone is on the same page. We all want a Broncos win.
Funny how those of us who cheered for Plummer are cheering for Cutler and are just happy we are winning. Those who cheered for Cutler and hated Plummer couldnt wait to dissect Plummer's play but give Cutler a break even though we are in the thickof the playoff race.
Ive said it many times, and no one still gets it. I dont care who is playing. I just want to win. I dont like it when my team loses. I take it so hard that I had to stop drinking on gamedays until we won the game and if we lost I dont watch the sports shows that WHOLE WEEK.
I dont care if its Plummer, Tatum, Cutler or Mike or Foxworth or Darrent or Nate Jackson or scheffler. JUST ****ING WIN. Conversely, when you **** up rookie or not, you get no pass from me.
A win is a win. A loss is a loss. Doesnt matter who is playing.
Our defense is still **** and cant stop anyone when it matters most. This reason alone is why we will not win anything until we get a new DC with some god damn balls in the 4th quarter. Id rather lose riskingf everything than sit there and watch a team pick us a part because of tentative playcalling.

Or maybe some people understand that the way played yesturday is rarely going to equal a win.
God you people walk around in Bronco laa laa land all year long.
Laa laa land where i sit can see what our weaknesses are key injuries and the QB BS the team had to go through a few weeks ago, this team is far from a 49ers team of the 90s and expect all out dominating a** whoopins from this squad is how you say (posting from laaa laa land.

Id rather lose riskingf everything than sit there and watch a team pick us a part because of tentative playcalling.
now this is a good post , legitimate complaints without the bedwetting .....
he celebrates the win first , then points out whats wrong second ........

I always thought you cheered for the team to win period. You talk about how you want your team to win the Super Bowl. Funny thing is you can't win the Super Bowl without making the playoffs, you can't make the playoffs wiithout winning games....last time I checked a ugly win counted the same as a blow out. Thats where Pats fans get it. They got used to so many ugly wins that they get joy out of watching there team play. Come playoff time most teams in it are bad weather teams why, because they win in ugly ways. With snow and our backs against the wall we still lucked out a win. Even if the snap was down there still was time to get us in FG range and if not there is always overtime, but THE SNAP WAS BAD. End of story.
I cheered with Griese, I cheered with Plummer, I cheer with Cutler, and should he suck and someone else come in I will cheer for them.

I hadn't peeked at Matt's website (fireshanahan) until today ...
1. I feel dumber for having looked at it
2. I get the feeling he'd rather see the Broncos "lose pretty" than "win ugly"
The standards we Broncos' fans are accustomed to are playoffs, drafting in the bottom half of the 1st round, and selling out every home game.
I have been a bit disappointed in the "no-shows" the past two games (3000 vs. seattle and 5000 vs. cincy), but moving the seattle game to sunday night didn't help and christmas eve games in denver in december cause some to stay home - but having gone to the game yesterday I have one thing to say: you guys who didn't go and could have missed out :)

Cincy was understandable folks are still diggin out from the snow and alot left town for the holidays.
Cincy was understandable folks are still diggin out from the snow and alot left town for the holidays.
That's understandable to an extent - on the other hand, many drove in from out-of-state (hundreds of miles). I just wish every ticket had been used. There's nothing like a full house for a big game that has lots riding on it.
Scalpers were saying they haven't seen bad business like this in many years. We are a spoiled lot, to say the least. I'm glad we're able to compete every year. I can't imagine being a fan of a team that makes the playoffs once every decade.

Ok chief. Again, if I have no credibility then it should be easy to counter any specific argument I make. This rarely happens here, does it? So either Orange Mane is full of classless people or morons who cannot respond to somebody who is clueless about football. Take your pick.
It has more to do with not taking you seriously. You run, what is arguably, the dumbest NFL site this side of Oakland, and yet you come here and tell us we are either morons or classless.
Go find a mirror, that's where you'll find the classless moron you speak of.

What a wonderful first sentence, you dip****. If I wade through the gammatical morass to determine what I think you think you mean to say, I find one of these unprovable and incorrect statements in the same vein as "more wars have been held on account of religion than [I suppose you would say "then," but let's not get into that now] anything else." Where and how has it been shown that "how a team wins" says the most about its talent level? Was that shown by the Colts team of last year, which looked about as dominant as any team ever has in the regular season?

What bothered me were all the no shows last night. Granted, the stadium was full (and I thought loud) on the lower levels, but still. Back in the day that would have never happened.

I hear ya - it's disappointing. Of course, it was Christmas Eve, but a friend of mine had 2 extras and NO ONE was buying - the number of tickets for sale on Federal for such an important game was surprising (and disappointing).
Not sure why this is happening, but I felt there were still too many "no shows" yesterday - all things considered.

I think the weather had a lot to do with it. The side roads were still not very fun to navigate yesterday. But still, if I could get to the light rail station in my pontiac grand am rental car, I would think the 7,000 no shows could have done the same.

Keep thinking this team is suddenly going to fix the flaws that we have had all year in 2 weeks, that obviously shows you know little or nothing about the game of football.
I have no problem reading what you typed. You complained about the realist on this site that see we have way to many flaws to make any type of run in the playoffs and labled them 'bedwetters'. Because we saw the game for what it was, a game that was handed to us.
Exactly right

Sure. I know Jetmeck is starting threads that are 31 flavors of stupid but jack him in his own house. No new threads required.
I think being high on the Broncos is a wonderful thing but a sip of coffee and lo and behold. There are other things to talk about. Let's assume they are perfect. How about starting an early off season thread?

it is more then Jetmeck , I dont give a damn if they post up or not , I am just saying what alot of posters here feel , they just dont want to go through the agravation of dealing with these people , So I didnt I jack them in their own thread ? simple some people made some great points in those threads , I didnt want to piss all over them to pick a fight , now we get the best of both worlds , people can read other threads without all the bullshít , and I get to call these retards out ...............again the Broncos are not perfect , never made that claim , why people keep saying that ?
My point is this , we saw a rookie QB , TE, WR , and 2 young backs Drive 99 yards for a touch down in the snow , and what do these bed wetting aholes talk about ?
thats right mistakes .....................
