Personally I feel way more confident with our 9-6 team than I did with our 7-2 team.

How could you not be after seeing the way that they've been able to open up the playbook over the last two weeks?

Now the League has a book on Cutler, so they're going to adjust to him, right?

Except, how do you adjust to a fastball that's past you before you can even react?

You guys just got bit by bad Jake this year. If Cutler had been starting from week one you'd probably be 10-5 and maybe better.

He's right though. For all the talk that says we wouldn't have lost the Seahawks game with Jake at the helm, we wouldn't have won the Bengals game with Jake there. I'm not really looking for an argument, but I know I'm going to get it... But I believe our defense would have been up against a blow-out with Jake in there. I don't think we'd have mounted enough offense, and I think the Bengals would have had field position all day long for short field scores. What we saw today was a team win where both sides of the ball played hard and contributed. When one went down, the other picked them up. Together, they kept us in the game for all 60 minutes, and good things happened for us in the end.

That was a great win in my book. Not everything went perfect, and we still managed to do enough to come out ahead. That's how the Patriots won their first Superbowl. They just found ways to win, and sometimes that just meant hanging in there as a team and letting the other guys make the game sealing mistakes.

Tough to say. The 7-2 team had no offense, and the 9-6 team has no defense.

I voted for the 9-6 team. At least with this team I feel like I have a realistic view of what they have and I have strong and growing confidence in their Offense.

But, I have to tell you I've lost mega confidence in the D.... They are simply not stopping people when they need to. If Cincy gets the gimme extra point then the only way we win is if we score in the final 0:41, we get the ball first in OT, or Cincy creates another mistake. We did not stop them ourselves when we had too.... Very disappointing. And, Indy, Sandy Eggo, and Sea Hags are all testimonilas to games that we could have won (with the the last two being absolutely should have won) but our D simply allowed teams to score almost at will to get back in the game.

So... I think I am more confident that I really know this team now at 9-6 and that they can beat some of these teams. But I think our demise, if it occurs, will be because we don't stop a team when we need too...

Our problem has been for a few seasons now - we can't stop the pass, even with Champ taking away half of the field we simply can't stop the pass. I blame Coyer.

Personally I liked the 7-2 team better because the defense was one of the best in the NFL. Now they are suspect.

At 7-2 the broncos were a top 5 team today they are a top 10 team...... maybe.

Well with the 7-2 team I suspected the D-line sucked, but I let myself buy into the hype hoping the rest of the team could bail them out.
With the 9-6 team I know the D-line sucks and that we are not going to beat SD or Baltimore, but it is great watching the offensive skill players we have for next year.

9-6 is funner to watch. But they would get clobbered by the likes of Baltimore. Whereas the 7-2 was dull and frustrating, but there was nobody they couldn't match up against competitively. Injuries killed that D.

That's exactly how I feel. I don't know that either one is champion caliber (though you never know) but we weren't getting any better before and as we sit right now we're only getting better.

it's interesting how different the 2 teams are.
7-2 denver lead in points allowed, T. Bell ran on everything, Passing game did as much bad as good.
9-6 D can't stop anybody, T.Bell can't run at all, Rookies are taking over everywhere, and while there are bumps here and tere the passing game is more dangerous.

I'd say they both had the same chance to win it all, very little. The young run 9-6 team is certainly more exciting.

We will need to be able to hold runners to less than a 100yds if we are going to do anything good in the playoffs. The offense is much better now.

I'm just hoping we can play hard for the playoffs and let the chips fall where they may.

9-6 Broncos , not that Jake was that bad , but Cutler will make plays Jake never will .......... that 99 yard drive while snowing , playoff type of game , kid didnt choke ..........

2 players should answer that question for you. Brandon Marshall and Tony Scheffler. Both players were mere blots on the landscape with Plummer at the helm. Scheffler was even dropped from the gameday 45. It'll be a long-time before that happens again without an injury report card. Cutler has put both these players on the map, they'll make sure they stay there.

Tomlinson (twice), Larry Johnson and James have worn down our run defense over the past 4-5 weeks into near submission. Rudi just worked on a D that was respecting the Bengals air game too much.

Was Tatum 100% at 7-2? I can say this the playoffs looked like a lock at 7-2.

Offense is scoring more, D has the same swagger as back then.

ST looks decent.

Great thread idea!

I feel SLIGHTLY better about the current offense and MUCH worse about the current defense.

If our defense was playing well, Id feel we can make some noise in the playoffs.

But I suspect that we will be put in crap situations because of our defense.

A bonus side effect of this will be that Taco John finally admits our defense sucks and is the reason we lose ball games more often than not.

I voted tie for this reason, although I would have to go with the 9-6 team because if they get behind, they have a chance of coming back. I also think they have the firepower to blow a team out. Not to mention that the offense is only going to get better for the rest of the season.

Hopefully it lasts a few weeks.

7-2 team

While I believe Jay is a upgrade to Plummer and was arguing with most of you all year about starting him over Plummer at the beginning(nice to see you all on the bandwagon now Uhh). The Defense on the 7-2 team was playing a hell of alot better as they were healthier.

Who cares... good defenses take away good running backs. Last year we held those HB's in check for the most part. LJ in KC was basically only the slip. We just aren't that good stopping the run. It happened in St. Louis as well.

I've said it all along...Larry Coyer svcks. He makes NO halftime adjustments. Has the same predictable blitzes, etc... Maybe we need to fill some holes on D too. But I do think they underachieve with the talent on D. That is on the coaches.

The O is so much better right now and will become downright scary as Cutler continues to get better and better and the RB position becomes solidified either with M. Bell or offseason. Tatum just doesn't seem to be able to handle full-time RB.

Anything can happen, but I don't think the Broncos with the way the D is playing will be able to really do anything in the playoffs. But should we beat the 49ers and get in, I think its great experience for Cutler, Scheffler and the younger guys.

This team will be sick, but they need to get rid of Coyer who has no clue in terms of sophisticated schemes etc... Eagles D-coordinator Jim Johnson would salivate to have the Bronco defenders. Gregg Williams would love to have these guys. He barely has any talent on the skins D.

With a legit QB and a new D-coordinator, the Broncos will be back challenging for the Super Bowl. It won't be this year though, the D can't really stop any solid offense.

Good experience for Cutler though so that's good. Just like losing to the patriots was good experience for Roethelisberger

6-1 broncos over 7-2 broncos, we had yet to be exposed on defense. that said, we didnt score over 20 points once during that stretch which was miserable. i love our offense now so i will say the 9-6 team, defense can keep you in games but the offense has to score and not screw the defense with turnovers.

Your quite right our run defense was far better last year and the reasons are in Baltimore and injured reserve respectively. For all the crap Pryce and Brown got for being poor in the pass rush they are 2 of the better run defenders in this conference at the DE position.

I don't think we'll get out of the first round no matter what. Expecting Jay to win a road playoff game may be a little too much right now.

Indy will ****ing destroy us if we face them with our embarrassing Pass Rush. And Manning won't feel any pressure in the WC round, and he'd just carve our pathetic Pass Rush up.

If we go to New England, I fully expect the Pats to start in NO HUDDLE and stay in it. They started to move it very well against us last time we played them, and I would expect to see a whole lot of it in a playoff game.

I am not confident we can stop the Pats no huddle attack.

Even though I sit here thinking we can't win a first round game, I am still considering 2006 a great success, as long as we make the playoffs.

Cutler should have everyone's dick hard, and I would love to go into next season, with Jay already having some playoff experience under his belt.

I just hope we pull out all the stops and try and attack Manning next time. He might shred us, but the possibility we might bloody his nose a bit first is far preferable to sitting back passively and getting shredded. Again.

No one, I mean NO ONE, ever blasts Jeff Saturday, and I cannot understand it. He's listed at 295 but I don't see it.

I wish someone would line up a Nosebacker ( a NG, but 3 yards away from the LOS) and just blast away at Jeff Saturday, with nothing but high speed Bull Rushes to try to pocket collapse.

I watch game after game and no one touches Jeff Saturday. They may line their DT in the 1 and 2 gaps, but they do not go straight at him. With Manning 'straight dropping' so much, why is it that no one tries to Bull Rush his Center.

I would like to see how Jeff Saturday would play if he had the piss knocked out of him.
