So we are getting there third this year(07) and forth(08) next year but as of right now where would we be picking in third. And which teams should we be rooting for to win next week for a better pick?
Conklin

they are currently in a three way tie for 5th, we want whomever the redskins is playing to win, plus victories from arizona and houston to assure them of the 5th pick per round

Would have preferred the Redskins playing better football so Denver could've swapped 1st round picks. Oh well, the 3rd in '07 and 4th in 2008 is suffice.

the overall value would have been a high third rounder regardless...if they played well and we were swapping 1st's, that only meant that we'd not have played as well as we'd liked ourselves and we wouldnt get their 3rd and 4th, we couldnt have moved more than 3 or so places regardless, and those spots would have been mid to late 20's

• Strength of schedule for the previous season is the first tie-breaker for teams with the same winning percentage.
• Divisional and conference records are the next step in the tie-breaking procedure.
• As a last resort, a coin toss is used to determine the order of selection for teams with the same winning percentage. • If a playoff and non-playoff team end the season with the same winning percentage, the non-playoff team selects before the playoff team regardless of strength of schedule.

So if everything went our way we might get a 3rd pick or depending on the tie breaker we could get up to the 5th pick in the third.
Washington 5-10 --5-11 3rd heres hoping the tie breaker would go our way
Houston 5-10-------6-11
Arizono 5-10--------6-11
Cleveland 4-11------5-11
Tampa Bay 4-11-----5-11
Detroit 2-13 ---------2-14 1st
Oakland 2-13 --------3-14 2ndhehe

Speaking of Washington, did anyone happen to notice that Ladell Betts posted his 5th straight 100+ yard game today?
There's actually a faction of Skins fans who are hating on him because his performance is creating a RB controversy.

Does the strength of schedule go down if the teams that played tampa bay and Cleveland lose because right now they both have slightly harder schedules. And Does Washingtons go up if there oppenents won?

No, they traded their 2nd to the Jets, their 3rd to the Broncos and their 4th to San Francisco.
In short, they're up ****ed river.

In the best case scenario, Washington ends up with the third pick. For that to happen, we need Washington to lose to the Giants, Tampa Bay to beat Seattle at home, and Cleveland to beat Houston on the road. If all that happens, both Tampa and Cleveland will jump Washington in the standings by virtue of having a stronger strength of schedule. Houston also has a stronger SOS at the moment, which would give them a lower draft pick if they tie with Washington. There still might be a chance that Houston's SOS dips below Washington's, but I'm guessing that it's unlikely.

Too bad they couldn't have done this last season when Denver had their 1st. Regardless of where it ends up, I think the 3rd is much higher than anyone anticipated it was going to be if there was no swap of 1sts.
Gibbs claims they have all their picks in next year's draft, so guess we'll see who is right about that future 4th.

My understanding was that the pick was "the value of an early 3rd round pick" Since the skins have done much worse than expected and the 3rd is early, do the Broncs still get the 4th in 2008?

Can you imagine the meltdown here if Shanahan traded a 3rd & 4th for Brandon Lloyd and then at least a 3rd rounder (possibly a 4th on top of it) for TJ Duckett?
Maybe that's why most Skins fans just go completely homer. It's the only way to keep from going completely nuclear.

You nailed that one, CO.
Only way I could mentally cope with having Daniel Snyder as a team owner would be in a state of total denial.

At best, third pick in the third round. At worst, seventh pick in the third round.
We also have their fourth rounder in 2008.

The value of that pick should be between 245-230 points. Its a nice pick to have if you want to move up in the draft.

Before the Draft, someone asked the top QB prospects if they could take a Mulligan for something that happened in their life up until now, what would it be? Young gave his answer and Leinart gave his answer. Jay Cutler said, "I'll keep mine. I wouldn't change anything."
That answer impressed everybody. I think we should feel the same way. Last year's Draft was perfect. Nothing could have made it better. Let's be honest here, we can't be 100% sure the Broncos wouldn't have taken Leinart over Cutler with the Redskins pick at seven
Anybody want to change things under that scenario?
Be grateful for the things you have, people. No better advice on how to live your life.

I bet Young and Leinart are both pissed that they are on sub par teams while Jay will most likely make the playoffs in his first year. Also Slap you are entirly right no one knows other then Shanny and the inside crew who he realy liked more in the draft.

No, most likely we would not, the other third would probably have moved us up about 3-4 spots, so NE still gets him.
On a different note, my god you guys are thieves. Not only do we totally fleece the skins, but now you are complaining that the fleecing did not turn into armed robbery.
