IF Denver wins next Sunday, the franchise will have accomplished a feat unmatched by Red Miller's Orange Crush of the late 1970s, Dan Reeves' AFC stalwarts of the 1980s and 91 and Mike Shanahan's Super Bowl juggernauts.
IF the Broncos happen to beat San Francisco (tough task considering they are facing Frank Gore), they will have made the postseason in four straight seasons. Not bad considering the 03-06 Broncos have played the majority of games with Jake Plummer at the helm.
Then again, I don't think anybody will care since postseason appearances are a low standard for the Broncos in the Rocky Mountain region.

If J'Ville puts it to KC we might clinch before we even take the field.

When you consider the fact that Dallas is going to the playoffs for the first time in 3 years and is just finally recovering from the loss of Aikman, Irvin, and Smith, you gotta be pretty happy. But then you factor in that we made a move to acquire our franchise quarterback without missing much of a beat and that's really something special.

So many franchises fall apart after a big run. We made big runs throughout the mid and late 90's and turned those runs into two rings.
The 49ers are just now laying the foundations for a solid team after years of chaos.
The Packers let their all-pro offensive line walk out the door along with players like Mckenzie and Sharper and are making a "run" at 7-8 in a very weak NFC. They'll be even more lost once Favre is done.
The Rams went from the greatest team in the NFL to mediocre.
We seem to be there every year. Although i don't know how much of a chance we really had with Jake under center, we are still a winning football team.
The funny part is, up until recently we haven't drafted well at all. We stock our line with late round picks. Our worst player on the o line was a first day pick.
I guess it all boils down to good coaching and making the right moves when the opportunity presents itself. (Champ and Javon)
2nd Round Pick
Clinton Portis

Champ Bailey
Javon Walker
2nd Round Pick (Tatum Bell)
Don't even get me started on how we landed Cutler. You will never see execution like that ever again, i'm convinced.

can anyone extrapolate Cutler's stats for the last THREE games and see what his season's stats would've been? not saying it gonna be very accurate or true, but it will be interesting.

Oh man.... that is sweet!!
One of the best things about Shanny is that in 11 years he has never had a rebuilding year to where Denver faultered. That's impressive. 2005 was a rebuilding year for the secondary, 2006 is a rebuilding year for the offense and through all this Denver kept winning.

You might even say that this is uncharted territory.

Into the playoffs with a rookie QB maybe isn't uncharted territory, is it ? But it sure makes for a good story.
Can we stop Frank Gore, our rush defense has been horid as of late ?

IF Denver wins next Sunday
We guarantee a spot. There are plenty of scenarios in which we would make the playoffs even if we lose.
Matter of fact, if the Jets lose, aren't we guaranteed?

I miss the old days when the Broncos didn't neccessarily win but the fans ALWAYS showed up in force.
I don't miss Red Miller or Dan Reeves.
I like the new fans determination and willing to learn more about football, the rules and to actually get a better understanding of the business of football.
I don't like freefall of ethical values and money first players.
Every day is a new day. Every win counts. :strong: Everything has a price.

I'm pretty sure that if KC wins and Denver loses, we're screwed regardless of what else happens.

The way I see it is that if the Broncos win they have the 5th seed. Either KC loses next week, or the Jets lose either tomorrow or next week, the Broncos are in. Those are the only two teams that can beat out the Broncos...if the Broncos lose. But a loss from either of them and they cannot beat out the Broncos.

No a Chiefs loss puts us in regardless of what happens against SF. That game will be interesting anyway, alot of playoff scenarios hinge on that game.

I'll be interested in seeing how well we can stop Gore.

A Jets loss tonight or next week will also put the Broncos in.

link? I don't think a Dolphins win tonight puts us in.
There are other circumstances that would get the Broncos into the postseason with a loss. But all involve a defeat or tie by the Kansas City Chiefs, who are scheduled to kick off at 11 a.m. next Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. A Chiefs loss would give the Broncos automatic passage to the postseason.
That's not how the Broncos want to make it, though, and after stumbling through late November and early December, they're not content with merely backing into the playoffs.
