Okay,

Let's Review:

Week 1: Lined up under center pretty much the whole game without a lot of bootlegs. Mostly stayed in the pocket and rolled with the pressure. Also, note he started in 16% degree weather, so he can handle the cold weather.

Week 2: Lined up in the shotgun most of the game with a spread offense. Stayed in the pocket and proved he can be an effective passer in the middle of the field with LB'ers crashing down on the edges. Played from behind the whole game, but still managed to maintain his composure, and make plays that made it a game for at least one quarter of footall. Proven to be able to handle a hostile croud that smelled blood in the water.

Week 3: Second road trip against an allright defense. Beat both the blitz and split the zones. Proven to be an effective passer from within the confines of the pocket and without (see Javon TD). Handled pressure well, found the hot receiver, and utilized the TE's efffectively. Note that all three WR's had more than 4 catches a piece, so he can spread the ball around.

Question: You're Marvin Lewis, do you man up and blitz the snot out of the rook, or play zone and just rush four?

One size dosent fit all defending Cutler , you have to trick him , outsmart the rook , then keep him on the sideline as much as possible ...........
Cutler will torch a cover 2 , and Walker will eat man to man ...Cant use the nickle much , Denver will run you out of it , if it were me , I would make Cutler work a drive , long drive .......Nothing cheap

That is exactly what they did to Payton Manning, and he ate them alive.

He's still a rook I come after him hard and heavy right out of the gate. Then adjust as needed.

what other choice do you have ?
you double , play zone , Denvers running game will put you in a hurt locker , fast and quick , you blitz , draws , Screens , 3 step drops , but you are not getting burnt for 64 yard bombs , man that was huge .but the last thing you want to Denver to get a lead , that play book gets alot bigger .............. you dont want Champ and Lynch playing pass only ......

They could pull out Denvers famous "Rush 1 drop back 10" 8')

i think he will try and blitz early hoping to force a turnover and get an early lead. Im comfortable having walker one on one against anyone on their defense whether javon is healthy or not.

I think the key with any young qb is trying to confuse him, lots of zones and keep him guessing. Of course I think the key to any qb is pressure up the middle.

IF the run game get going it going to be hard for Cinncy to attack Cutler. I would play a lot of zone and zone blitz scheme make him squeeze the ball into tight spaces.

They should throw themselves at his feet and beg for mercy.

Jay will look down upon them and whisper, "No."

With prayer and/or a voodoo doll.

Holy cow almighty!

We're actually talking about how a team is going to be forced to defend our quarterback! I'm in excstasy!

I think they're going to have to mix it up, like Spider said, and trick the rookie with different looks. I think that there's enough stuff on tape that shows that Jay is willing to stand and deliver... take a shot while completing a pass.

Ultimately I think our success is going to depend on how effective we can be with our tight ends, working them up the field and keeping the kid comfortable, with the occassional stretch play for a home run to loosen things up for the running game.

Man, I can't wait!

Cat Blitz , will fire , Gap fire , Delayed , D line stunts , Late hits on the QB , you name it , they will throw it at us , but this should cause Bengals D cord nightmares , Chargers came after Cutler from a 3-4 , Cutler lost , but he had a good game ........... Bengals should blitz heavy from the left , where Lepisis was .............
Marshal has to keep you up at night ...........
Bengals stop the run , Make Cutler beat you in a shoot out ............... problem is Cutler can beat you deep .............

I'm always in favor of coming with heavy pressure on a rookie. 9 times out of 10, a rook isn't going to have the savvy to beat blitzes he probably hasn't even seen. Blitzes, stunts, different looks... especially with our defense.

I think they will try to beat Jay by forcing Denver into a shootout, hoping the rookie makes mistakes due to the pressure.

The pertinent question is how we can prevent Palmer, CJ and co from forcing us into a shootout.

Jay isn't your average rookie...he got the crap beat out of him at Vandy and always got up, even if he had to pop a dislocated finger back in while in the huddle.

If you think our manchild isn't tough, just look back to that perfect throw with a LB bearing down on him to Walker. His first half against Seattle, he looked jittery. In just three weeks, he was walking with a swagger...yeah, it was Arizona, but still a road win.

There was a picture of the warrior Jay on here recently with him staring right in the camera menacingly. That's game on Jay. I honestly don't think he's going to rattle like a normal rook.

I do agree that changing looks could confuse him, but defenses try to do that with 12 year veterans...see Jake. That's where Art Shell is so far behind the curve it's amusing. It's so much more of a chess game on both sides of the ball now.

Confidence is so importand for a QB, and Jay has it in spades IMO, especially after last week. OK...I have a man crush.,.,.,,*quivers*

Thats what I was going to say... forcing the pass sounds like the most logical scenario our offense will face.

Yeah, with that weak arm they won't have to worry about the deep bomb. ;D

Oh yeah I love Walker on one side and am beginning to REALLY like Brandon Marshall on the other side. Damn that is a great combo ?

My guess is they'll be banking on Deltha & Tory shutting down Javon & Brandonhttp://www.proxywhore.com/invboard/html/emoticons/roar.gif

The pertinent question is how we can prevent Palmer, CJ and co from forcing us into a shootout.

This could be the answer every week, pressure the QB. I believe we will, Cinci had no answer for speed rushers from the ends last week. With two rooks already manning their line and another vet on the o-line injured I believe we get to Palmer a lot this week.

I think there are two options for the Bengals.

I think you could play a lot of different things and give him lots of different looks. The idea would be to confuse Cutler and keep him guessing hopeully flustering hum into mistakes. The problem is that with overly complicated defense schemes means that there is higher likelihood for mistakes on the field and that could mean giving up big plays.

The second thought is just keep it simple and try to out play the offense straight up. If you keep it simple there is a lower likelihood of mental errors and with lots of young guys on the field you can just hope that when one of them makes a mistake you can capitalize on it. The down to this is that if it's too simple a coach like Shanahan will have you weeping bitterly by the end of the game as he surgically dismantles you. Also, if the rookie doesn't play like a rookie then you can be royally screwed.

Cincinnati's defense is giving up 4.1 a pop on the ground and quarterbacks are completing 63% of their passes against them.

They're in trouble this weekend.

Their defense was full of themselves because they shut down the Browns, the McNairless Ravens and the Raiders. Peyton brought them down to earth real quick on MNF in Indy, now they have to stay on the road and come to Denver on a short week.

They're in trouble.

They're in trouble if Denver executes on offense and protects the ball. Most of Denver loses this year have come when they get sloppy with the ball.

Keep everything in front of you. Make them drive the field. Focus on the run. Hopefully get some third and longs and make the the rook beat you.

Buck Fever = a hunter sees his target , gets all excited and shoots everything but the target .............
Cutler doesnt have that
