He has to get around 375 which is possible against Seattle and AZ.

I don't see it. That is 187.5 yards a game. If he's anywhere near those numbers in each game most likely they are blowing out the opponent so I doubt he'll reach 2K.

I hope he doesn't get it and has a chance to rest up a bit for the playoffs.

It would be awesome to cap off LT's amazing season by going over 2000. I doubt he'll get enough carries to do it, though. Our next game will probably be more like game 2 against Denver with everyone swarming to LT and Rivers having a big game.

They won't run him like a mule just for that.

Denver ran TD so he could get it he needed around 165 it seems. They can't drop a game for homefield. He cold easily get 210 or so against Seattle and he would only need 165 against Cards.

Oh, it would be badass, and I would cheer...but it's not going to.

I certainly wouldn't root against it happening like when Jamal Lewis did it. LT is a great player and a class act who would be deserving of being in the company of the other 2000 yard rushers.

I'm hoping he goes for 2007. We all know who went for 2008.

This crossed my mind the other day but as much as Charger fans would want it, i doubt they try to go for it. This way, LT is the best running back never to hit 2,000. I'm sure ESPN could do a whole half-hour slot on this.

If he gets around 200 against Seattle they are going to go for it. It will help with marty's broken record speach that he is the finest player to strap them on. If he gets 200 all you will hear on espn all next week is 2000.

He holds to much value to his team he will rest against Arizona, no doubt! It would be fun to see the greatest player in the game right now accomplish another milestone, but will not happen.

You realize that they can't lose again to keep the #1 seed right now.

Remember the end of last season when the Chargers were eliminated and Marty kept having Brees throwing bombs in a game we clearly won? Some on here suggested it had to do with a incentive in Marty's deal, and it lead to Brees getting sacked and tearing up his shoulder.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if Marty tries his best to get Tomlinson 2K yards, I just hope LT doesn't take a career threatening injury home as the booby prize. Brees has bounced back surprisingly well but I don't welcome that on any player.

The eyes should be focused on the SB, and if they are concerned about LT reaching 2K, they may have lost the SB already. Playoffs are about focus, and SD's lack of experience makes it doubly important. I have a lot of respect for LT, but there is absolutely no reason to risk the man (h3ll, he got a hit last week that hurt his jaw, why challenge the football gods). For LT's sake, I sure hope Marty is not that stupid, but then again...

i dont think he'll get it. they've handled him perfectly so far(sitting him out in preseason etc.)

Ditto. It's not going to happen unless we fall behind Arizona. But even then I see us using more Turner/LT combo than just LT alone.

They NEVER run him for records. The one that keep driving me crazy is the career 200 yard games record. O.J. has the record with 6. LT has 4 200 yard games and just had 199 against K.C. He also had over 175 earlier this year.

I think fans are the only ones who truly care about some of this stuff.

Marty would be stupid to run him into the ground just before the playoffs. I don't think it will happen. Michael Turner and Lorenzo Neal should get a lot of those carries the rest of the season...
