Watching NFL Primetime at 1 in the afternoon for some reason!
Hodge and Salsbury Steak and still talking about how Cutler is too inconsistent and Denver will miss the playoffs...they both picked the Jets. Said we would lose to the Bengals at home.
Take away Jay's opener, he's hovering around 100 in rating. Overall, he's at 90 and a 6-3 TD ratio. I can live with that type of inconsistency.
Remember that Capital One ad where the little girl says "What smells like cheese?"
That's just Marcus Vick...and his brother Michael...Just like the Mastadon's that refuse to die, it's amusing to see these dimwits jump off the train and get on the VY bandwagaon, despite the fact Cutlers rating is over 25 points higher and he's got a 2/1 interception ratio.
Want to know what else pisses me off? They didn't even list Cutler on a poll for best rookie last week...now he had just one start, but c'mon.
BTW, the glory boy Phillip Rivers has a 68 rating the last two games when Jay is around 100.
Don't get me wrong...it's almost probable that Jay will throw up a turd sometime, but he's starting to look to me like...
"Hey, I can handle this" As Taco pointed out, he's starting to get a swagger like....dare I say it? You get the picture. I don't want to jinx the kid and we all know how superstitious both fans and players are.
Jay almost had a flawless game except for a miscomunication with a reciever and I think a fumbled snap. I'll take a 101 rating every day and twice on Sundays. It's like we have moved from Rice Pudding to a Banana Split! Whoever came up with that was obviously perverted, maybe I just am...anyway...
Call me a homer....anyone who knows me I am brutal in my evaluations. I don't homer often, but I'm chomping at the bit to see if the kid can keep it coming.
It just makes me pissed that while they are licking VY's nutsack, Cutler is "inconsistent"
Skippy seems even more PMS now that Woody has left on 1/10. What a biatch!

Yea, I hate it too. It kinda reminds me of the '83 class.
Everyone was all over Marino the first few years. Kelly and Elway ended up getting to all the SB's, though.
The talking heads can have VY and Leinert as long as Cutler is the one fighting for the rings.
BTW, I personally think Leinert will be a much, much better QB than will VY.

that will depend on the cards they are team with no real tradition. Fisher makes the titans rich in tradition !!!!!!you face the titans you better do up your chin strap and you better hit harder then the other guy that team is ready every game!!!!!!!!!

Hodge & steakums were gaga over that 64 yard cutler bomb to walker. Hodge's player of the week was Jay Cutler.
I'm not surprised talking heads are picking Cincy. Before last night, they won 4 in a row. Denver IS starting a rookie and he's playing only his 4th game. The Broncos will not have Tater & Walker at full strength. Cincy is a very good team so it doesn't surprise me people are picking them to beat Denver.

If we win the next two and get into the playoffs, then he gets respect.

Vince Young has led the Tennessee Titans to seven wins, including five straight and three fourth quarter comebacks prior to Sunday.
He has passed for 1800 yds with 10 tds and 11 ints while rushing for 450 yds at 6 y/c, 5 tds, 4 20+ runs, and 27 first downs.
That is why they are on Vince Young's nuts. When Jay finishes the season with 3 straight wins and a playoff birth, you can rightfully b****.

Andrew Walter, Damon Huard, and Brad Johnson all tore it up against AZ too.

Hodge is an idiot -- flat out. Salisbury is annoying but makes the occassional good point.
Everyone is on the J-E-T-S because of their EASY schedule. Well I think they might go down to Miami on Sunday and get it handed to em'. That's not an easy task.
I can see why people think we might lose to Cincy. They have an offense that could/should give our D fits. The best part of their D is their pass rush and that is the weakest part of our O. I am hoping that A) they have to play with the two young tackles and B) they are a little hung over from a pretty uninspired loss last night and coming on the road. If Cutler progresses a little more and Invesco is rocking, we should be in okay shape.

He WILL be inconsistant but we are talking about Cincy and SF defense the next two weeks.....at HOME.
You guys win both IMO.

Vince Young has led the Tennessee Titans to eight wins, including six straight and three fourth quarter comebacks prior to Sunday.
What's even more remarkable is that he's done it all in a season where the Titans are 7-7. 8 wins for Vince when his team only has 7. Now THAT's an accomplishment.

That's fair -- look at Rivers (and that's not a shot over the bow). Young QBs are inconsistent by definition. I like our chances in the next 2, but I think the play of the D will determine whether or not we get in. If we can keep Cincy under 24 pts, then I think we win. The O is getting better, but I still don't think they are there just yet -- Javon's shoulder and Tatum's Toe don't help.

I just hope on passing downs, Dumervil and whoever else might be in, makes that rookie Whitworth look like a chump.

VY is WAY overrated right now. Seriously he is throwing for 150/ypg, has a QB rating of 65 and is completing 51% of his passes. We ran a QB out of town that had better stats than that. Tennessee is getting timely big plays from special teams and D as much as anything.
VY better learn to THROW THE BALL or he will be "the next Michael Vick" -- a great talent that you can't build a team around.
And how impressive is a comeback win against Houston? How did they get behind int he first place? The NYG win was impressive, but I can't get over the fact that Kiwanuka had him dead to rights and let up. That was not a play VY made, that was a boneheaded play by him.

Gary Horton on espn's web page for qb ratings over the season has Cutler 19th, with Young 20th, Lienart 21st, and Alex Smith 22nd. Oh and for the redskin fans, Campbell is 27th.

And yet, comes through in the clutch when it matters. One game they get huge plays from ST, 6 of their wins were all Vince Young. Way overrated, pshaw

Dude you clearly havent watched a single game. Youngs percentage may be down but that has to do with his receiving corps. Name me ONE of his receivers. Yeah, thought so. He has made some beautiful perfectly thrown passes and, like every rookie including Cutler, has had some bad ones. He is about as close to Michael Vick as BRett Favre is.

Let's see, how impressive is a comeback win against Houston? About as impressive as a win against crappy ass Arizona. Besides the fact that HE did everything to win that game. What about the win over INdy? Keep bashing the guy that keeps winning. Just makes you look more retarded.
I'd take Vince Young over most of the other young QBs.

Right Alec...like that crappy game in just his second start against San Diego, the pre ordained SB Champion. 2 TD, 0 picks, 97 rating.
He also got thrown in the fire against the defending NFC Champions, and both Hasslebeck and Alexander were back in the lineup.
We know he was shakey in his first start...are you old enough to remember Elway lining up under guard...twice?
Grossman won a game with a 1.3 rating.
VY won last week with 85 yards passing. Amazing running skills too...4 yards on 4 carries. Jacksonville doesn't turn the ball over 4 times they win.
I love the tired old "he just wins" arguments. When your defense drags you across the goal line despite the QB it makes it all fine and dandy? Buy a vowel.

I remember it was the 86 Cleveland game that really "made" Elway. Until Cutler has an heroic game, he will be a "great young talent with great potential." Nothing wrong with that. He can do the "better than average" stuff, and if the D is imporoved, he can win championships.
But we know he has more potential than that. It will take a while for him to get all of the potential under control, but I would bet he will do so. And probably sooner than Elway did because Shanahan is the coach.
I really don't listen to Salisbury, so I don't have negative feelings towards him. But I understand that a number of folks here think he is a jerk.....

Who cares what these analysts think. I doubt they even watch most of the games they comment on.

I think your first paragraph describes what Cutler's effect will be this year.
Defenses already have to approach us differently now than before the QB change. For one, they actually have to be concerned when Javon Walker is 65 yards downfield. They didn't have to cover that before with a safety and a cornerback. Cutler is also going to complete more passes across the middle in the 8-15 yard range than Jake did from the pocket. His pass to Schleffler in that range was a thing of beauty. Opponents also have to watch the deep outs and the fades--there's just a lot more field to defend than before. Finally, opposing teams can no longer shut down our passing game by shutting off the bootleg--we can now pass reasonably consistently from the pocket. So we are now a much harder team to defend than before the QB switch.
Some of Jay's good game last Sunday was the result of Ariz stacking the box to stop the run, making Cutler beat them. But he did beat them and badly. So either our run game opens up or Cutler has a good game . . . not quite.
I think Cincy will come out stacking the box to stop the run and blitzing like crazy to shake the rookie. How our OL and RB's handle the blitz and whether Jay keeps his cool after setbacks are the keys to this game on O. If Jay completes some gainers over the blitz, the running game will open up and carry us into the playoffs.

I just saw (heard) JAWS on e-spin giving hard Praise to Cutler. I like Jaws overall, and he was saying how Carson Palmer has all these atributes- stands in the face of pressure; is smart; delivers the ball on time with accuracy and Pace...
And that he sees all of those same things in JAY CUTLER, and then goes on to give him major props.
