It won't be a big day in selections for the Broncos, but it's nice to know Denver won't be one of the teams shutout and send zero players to Honolulu.

Champ, Al, Nails, and maybe Javon (who i think really deserves it despite his recent lack of production sans the AZ game)

I think it's a tough sale in regard to Javon. The AFC is heavy on WR
Harrison
Wayne
Coles
A. Johnson
C. Johnson
L. Evans
I'd love to see him in there but I don't think he makes it.

I think that's the correct answer. Al hasn't had a stellar season and Lynch has basically disappeared this year...

Lynch hasnt DESERVED a pro bowl since coming to Denver.
He has played OK every year, but not pro-bowl level. He gets in on rep, like Ray Ray will get in on rep this year even though he doesnt deserve it. Zach Thomas is another guy not deserving this year, but will.
Champ will be the only Bronco in Honolulu.

Javon will make it to the 2008 Pro Bowl. His knee will finally be 100% healthy after his ACL tear and he'll have a gunslinger throwing him the ball for 16 games instead of 5.
Based strictly on stats you'd think that Chad Johnson, Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison have the first three spots wrapped up. Javon is right there with Lee Evans, Andre Johnson, and Laveranues Coles based on receiving stats, but Walker actually has more total yards and touchdowns when you add in his rushing yards. Maybe he can sneak in for the fourth spot, though I doubt he will.

the probowl is a sick joke, its a popularity contest, the worst all star game of the big three. MLB, NBA, then a distant third, NFL.

He's not even in the NFL after flunking out of KC, which is literally impossible.

Champ should line up at left AND right cornerback.
He should be the alternate, and if he's injured too badly to play, they should leave the spots empty in his honor.

People here are too hard on Lynch. He's still a very good safety. He's never been a ball hawk. He's always been about stopping the run. He does a good job for us there.

Will Jake go to the Pro Bowl for holder duties? He's been doing a damn good job holding the ball on PAT's & FG's. Heck, that fake FG flip to Elam was a thing of beauty.

They're announcing them now.
Champ is the starting left corner with Rashean Mathis on the right. Mathis should have gone last year but because he plays in Jacksonville he doesn't get very much credit.
Al Wilson is starting at middle linebacker. It should have been DeMeco Ryans, but I'll think Al Wilson deserves to go, and I'd rather see my snipped off right testicle than over-hyped ray-ray frauding his way onto the squad.
If no one has posted them yet I'll post the full squads as they are announced after this post.

This is a great list, but I think that if you consider the importance a player has on a team -- he is practically our only offensive play maker -- then he probably deserves it over guys like Evans, Coles and Johnson IMO. He played half the season with Plummer and then a 2 game transition period to Cutler. He pretty much won the NE and Pittsburgh games by himself.

Damn right. He's still an intimidating force. Maybe people should have asked Tom Brady how overrated John Lynch was after Lynch was instrumental in helping to break Brady's playoff winning streak last January. Nobody remembers that game, I guess.
Its not like the AFC is loaded with dominant safeties right now anyway.
Finally, Lynch didn't make the Pro Bowl at all his first six years in the League when he was straight up killing people. If he gets a Pro Bowl nod on rep on the back end, its only fair. Darren Woodson made the team at least twice when Lynch deserved to go instead.

Our fan base has hated on Lynch since his second season with us and pretty much just told each other "he's slow and white" since then despite evidence to the contrary. I'm tired of defending him when I know bias is going to win out anyway. The guy is one of the best defenders on our team and still at least in the top ten at his position. Lay off of him, already.

Glad to see the ever underrated Al Wilson make it.
About Rivers. It's a wash really. Rivers may have a better running back and slightly better receivers, but he's also a first year starter and has played better and more consistently than Brady. Also he did it in a much tougher division. AFC WEST> every other division.

Really? Because all the analysts I've read have picked Brady over Rivers. If anything the media is focused on LT. Rivers got there because he had the better season than Brady. If this was an MVP thing, then Brady deserves it more than Rivers, but it's not.
The thing I hate is that people make it sound like Rivers is doing nothing but handing it off to LT, when that's not true. If it was only LT then why the hell didn't he play well against the Broncos in Denver the previous seasons. Is it just a coincidence that the Chargers and LT finally do well against the Broncos when Rivers was the QB?
Like I said before, Rivers has more talent around him than Brady but he also plays in a harder division. Denver>Miami, New York, and Buffalo.

Rivers had a better QB rating, a better TD-INT ratio and just about even on passing yards.
It certianly helped that Rivers was a big part of those two back-to-back comeback victories (Bengals/Broncos) on national television.
I believe he still has the best 4th quarter passer rating in the NFL. Someone may have passed him recently but he's had that for the majority of the year. He's had some slow starts but he's been clutch in games.

Any way of figuring out who the alternates are?
Here are the Broncos alternates
"ETC.: Linebacker Ian Gold and kicker Jason Elam were named third alternates to the Pro Bowl. They would go to Hawaii if other players ahead of them opt out .."

I agree, but when you're the "hot" team, guys like Kickers get nods when they shouldn't. Elam had one of his best years for us this season and he certainly out-kicked Kaeding, but whatever.

Stover, Elam, Kaeding and Vinatieri are all having great years but no one really seems to be standing out from the rest.

Elam has been brilliant, but the anemic offense BC wrecked his chances.

As anemic as Denver's O has been I noticed KC has attempted same amount of extra points.

People probably looked at Kaeding's total points. Thanks, LT.

I can't believe people here don't think John Lynch deserves a spot in the probowl. He definitely deserves his spot. There isn't a better run stopping safety in the AFC than John Lynch.
I love having Lynch on this team and I think hes playing average or a little above average. But I dont think he deserves a pro bowl this year, he really hasnt laid anybody out this year and hasnt played great, like he use too.Damn the pussified league. What I cant believe is the most overated Bronco making it. I remember last time Al Wilson made it in and he got embarrassed. I think he did have a sack but he also lost his jock strap in a couple plays. To me Wilson hasnt even come close to playing the same level as he did during his contract year. Now that year he deserved a pro bowl. Champ is the only one that deserves it and maybe Elam.

Im sorry im not done with the Rivers over Brady thing,if you take brady out of new england that team will not be 10-4.Brady is 10 times better than Rivers. It just kills me

Well, what your theory has nothing to do with a Pro-Bowl vote. IMO, you're describing who you would vote for an MVP (although that is not how people vote for an MVP anymore.)
You're voting for who has had the best year at their position. At the moment Brady is the better quarterback overall (Super Bowl rings/Super Bowl MVP/etc.) but all those past accomplishments shouldn't factor in to the vote.
