View Full Version : Would You Trade D-Will for Michael Huff?

I think I would .... Foxworth played very well Sunday against the best WR-tandem in the NFL. I know his performnace was greatly aided by a resurgent pass rush (which Shanny credited to Ekuban playing DT again), but honestly I think Foxworth - from what I see - is as good as D-Will.
And I LOVE Curome Cox, but he's too small to play safety. So I say make Curome the nickel-back - with Paymah the #4 CB for depth, and trade D-Will for a solid, big hitter, nose for the ball safety. A BT/DS49/Atwater/Kenoy type. I know we can't actually trade with the Raiders, but a guy like Michael Huff is who I have in mind.
Our depth at safety is putrid, and Lynch won't play beyond '07. But we're relatively loaded at CB - we even cut Roc Alexander, a serviceable pro. So let's find a big-play, young-ish safety to swap for D-Will.
Whadd'ya say?

I would, but the Raiders wouldn´t. Trading a Top 10 Pick after one season where he didn´t even disappoint would be madness even for Al Davis´ standards. And if you truly want a Safety, why not draft Huff´s old teammate Michael Griffin?

Is it idiotic to think we could use Darrent Williams and Tatum Bell as trade baits to move up in the first round? Much like the Deltha O´Neal trade. I wouldn´t mind if D-Will got another chance after this season, but if we could trade him for value I wouldn´t break down in tears.

I think D-Will is worth a 2nd round pick .... and like I said, we're fairly loaded at CB. The backups would be Cox and Paymah - not bad.
I LOVE Curome Cox. MAJOR nose for the football ... I would really like to see him play more. He strikes me as a diamond in the rough - potential star. Just needs to get out there. Shanny had the right idea to get him on the field, but, like Foxworth, he's just too small for SS. Maybe he's a free safety waiting for Lynch to hang it up.
I'll go on the record here - Cox will be a BIG contributor in the future.

We´d need a replacement for D-Will IMO. Paymah hasn´t shown me anything yet. D-Will gambles way too much for my taste.

Darrent's trade value right now is not quite as good as Lelie's...
So, maybe a bag of off-brand Cheetos?

D-Will, Tatum Bell and we let them keep their third and fourth rounder for Sean Taylor maybe?

I thought Paymah looked pretty good on Sunday. Was solid in coverage, and was aggressive in run support. For some strange reason I have a lot of confidence in Cox as well. I like him as a safety though.

I wouldn't even consider trading Darrent right now. As tough of a time as he's been having out there, he is still one of the more athletic corners in the league and will probably be a good punt returner if we get our special teams straightened out.
Darrent has some learning and growing up to do, but let's not give up on him after the sophmore slump.

Should have moved up and drafted Bullocks.

Let me re-word that poll question for you:
"Would you trade a low second round pick for a top ten overall pick?"
That said, I think people are giving up to quickly on Darrent, he is too aggressive, but that will be tempered with experience. The guy has loads of talent and even in this bad year, he hasn't played quite as bad as people around here are saying.

Yeah, but I would have rather had Josh than Daniel. Maybe we'll get lucky and Shanny and Co. will draft Carriker

We could have moved up and drafted Josh the year we took Williams. Josh is third on the Saints in tackling and Daniel is second tackles for the Lions. On a side note Scott Shanle is leading the Saints in tackles (go Huskers) At this point I would love Carriker but I won't get my hopes up. Maybe we can land Jay Moore though.

Moore would be OK, but Carriker would be the every down impact DE that we could use around here.

Jay Moore has the size and speed to play every down as well. Moore is a tad smaller then Carriker but how many DEs are 295 :) For some reason I think we go another way and Carriker gets drafted by someone else but we maybe able to land Moore in the second or third round (skins pick) From what Ive seen Moore is 270 and runs in the 4.6 range. That should be the same speed as Carriker just 20 pounds lighter. We will see more from the combine though. Both players need to show well there because they didn't have the greatest year due to our secondary sucking balls.

True, but Carriker didn't have a great year because he was constantly double and even triple teamed.

I think D-Will is worth a 2nd round pick ....
If small and completely lost and confused CB's are worth a 2nd round pick I would hate to see what the current going rate is for good CB's. Might require a Herschel Walker type deal I suppose.
You know, I actually wouldn't but its not from a talent perspective. I just don't see why you'd want to pay a safety the kind of coin Huff is getting. Though I guess, if such a trade did occur the Raiders would be eating all the signing bonus, leaving us to only pay Huff's base which isn't too bad.
Still, I'd rather give Darrent a chance to straighten his game out and look for a safety anywhere from the late first to the early 3rd after we address DL. I think Zibikowski could slide to the second if he doesn't wow with his 40 time, but he'd be an excellent guy to add, his style of play is remenicent of a young Lynch but with better ball skills.

Huff has the speed and some experience in college at CB. I'm willing to bet he could step in right away at CB and play at a higher level than mini-mouse. But again this is a silly thread and poll. It is like a Chief fan asking if they would be willing to trade Ryan Sims for Haloti Ngata.

Wasn't Sims a first rounder?

i think two of our best CB/DB talent has come from trades/FAs. the young guys are learning but i think another proven CB through a trade fills a big missing piece of the puzzle.
silly poll man. Sorry. Hey, why don't we trade Dwilliams for Reggie Bush.ROFL!
With a totally incosistant pass rush, along with everybody and their moms always throwing to his side of the field (due to Champ on the other), I don't care what corner you have over there, they will get beat. But I will say this, as much quick burst as Dwillaims has and how much athleticism, he does not play the ball in the air very well at all. I also think his lack of size is a major disadvantage in some endzone jump ball situations. He also is not great at jamming WR at line of scrimmage. He would be my nickle guy.

Jesus people..........
Can we fix our DLine before we start giving our Secondary away?
I couldve swore it got us to the AFC championship game last year
Huff isnt going to do sh*t here with this Dline, so what would be the point?
