Bryant "Affirmative Action" Gumbel

And last but not least, on oldie but a goodie, gone but never to be forgotten,

I hope you know you know you named everyo9ne on ESPN but Woody and Skippy, T.J. and the Swami.

The only guys I like on ESPiN are the lead anchor guy Van Pelt (Van Pelt, right?) who uses some witty allusions and is less of a "hype the star no matter what" type of sportscaster. I dont really like Berman too much anymore, but I have a kind of sentimental attachment because he was the guy calling highlights during my formative years. He doesnt bother me nearly as much as those other clowns. John Clayton is alright. Mortensen is the best. Woody Paige is my favorite. There is a local guy, Randy Galloway, that is alright because he is so self deprecating and his show makes fun of itself. Dodge has some production skills. He adds alot to the show. Good job, Dodge. There is an awesome local Mavericks show called "Ben and Skin". Tom Jackson is also a sentimental favorite, and he always gives time and good coverage to the Broncos, so I have enjoyed him.

Most sportscasters/writers are too pretentious.

Dallas has horrendous local sports hacks, but let's keep it national: the top 5

1) Dick Vitale- nobodies even close...I'd rather hear somebody run a leaf rake down a chalk board than listen to him
2) Madden- only because Irvin doesn't do the live broadcasts; he sucks
3) Theisman- see #2...pompous self absorbed twit

5) Bradshaw- he's a better actor/singer, and he's horrible at both

I'm OK with most of the pregame guys on Sunday. On ESPN the only one I can't stand is Irvin. I've warmed up to Hodge since he's been on the Cutler bandwagon. Golic is a moron. The guy doesn't watch any of the games and just kind of says what he feels like is happening rather than finding out. Same for Sean Salisbury.

There's probably others, but the number of guys that really stick in my craw is small - especially compared to some here - and then if they give the Broncos props that aren't stupid then it's hard for me to hate them for very long.

TODD CHRISTENSON...

the biggest bozo of all time. It seemed like for years NBC would have him do color on Broncos games remember? He just hacked the Broncos every chance he could get. I still can't believe the network executives came up with this brilliant idea. His greasy hair, he's smart and smug attitude just drove me nuts.

My new fav is Phil Simms, he's about as simple, stupid and dull as they come. I mute the games when does the Broncos. I wish I lived closer to Denver, I'd put KOA on, I used to do it that way for years.

Cris Collinsworth. I love the guy - he always talked up Steve Watson when he was playing, and now that he's a (admittedly ubiquitous) pundit, he never parrots the standard line, supports his positions with good reasoning, never fears saying unpopular things, and add to that he's a HUGE Cutler fan.

Last week on HBO, they were talking Rookie-of-the-Year. Costas listed VY, Hester, Colston, Bush - even Leinart. They make their picks (Cris - VY) and then Costas asks, "but in ten years, which of these guys will have made the biggest impact?"

Marino and Carter gave their choices ... and then Collinsworth nuts up and says, "I'm gonna go off the board and say Jay Cutler." What a guy.

Reminded me of that irritating Stephen A. Smith quizzing Brett Favre during pre-season in that lightning round thing, the "A or B?" list of questions. They're going along, and Smith says "Leinart or Young?" Favre doesn't skip a beat .... he answers, "Cutler."

Hmm...it's close, but Michael Irvin and Randy Cross. An idiot and a gasbag, perfect for each other. They should share a booth on national tv. I can almost see cross wearing a "Snidely Whiplash" outfit and twirling that cheesy moustache he's now grown.

And I've lost respect for Merrill Hoge after that hideous outfit he wore on the "Blitz". A pinstriped black coat jacket, a shirt with giant chunky purple checks, and a gold and green patterned tie... :oyvey: :pfbbt:

Salisbury is a douche, but I get a kick out of his little feud with John Clayton.

The funniest thing about that is that Clayton always has better takes, and Salisbury cant do anything but attempt to intimidate him.

Salisbury is the kind of guy (you all knew the type) that would trash talk and try to intimidate and then come into the game and underwhelm you.

Goodness. I didnt know that.

Imagine the pitch he got from his PR team: "Okay..we need something BIG to sell this book. Something that makes the public forget your brash gaudiness and moves them to pity you. Drama + Pity = big book bucks. We've carefully considered the options, and have come to the concluseion that the most efficient and effective way to sell this book is for you to commit suicide. Not really committing suicide, but only attempting it...you know? We're thinking something dramatic. Something over the edge. Literally. You are going to drive your car off of a cliff. Let's get to work Neion!"

It was to sell his book. If you want to die there are ways to get it done. Suicide is a horrible thing, Deion did it to get his name in the press...how do you drive off a cliff and not get a scratch? Two weeks later he was in a purple suit at a church saying "buy my book, praise the Lord". That's why he was all over TV and at TO's house after TO popped some pills this year.
