Being reported on AM950...
javon has a 1st degree separated shoulder, Tatum re-injured turf toe.
Sorry if this is a duplicate thread.
That's not good news at all.

Especially since this Sunday is essentially a playoff game. Well, Marshall has stepped up lately. He won't be Javon but he might be enough.

How do the degrees of seperation work.. is 1st the most severe? and if so, can he be like Champ and shake it off?
This is a huge blow if he can't play.
Tatum not playing... meh Mike is more suited against this team anyway.

1st degree is a mild separation 1-3 weeks rest for standard folks.
He can play with a 1st degree separation I think.

That link describes the different degrees.
I think he should be ok, I mean he came back into the game after that happened on Sunday.
We'll see.
Tatum, I'm not so concerned about.
Where the HECK is Cobbs??? He hasn't played more than one game this season. He looked great in pre-season though.
Cobbs & Mike Bell should get it done.

Bo Hickey played with a broken back for a couple weeks back in the 60s. The team was too cheap to buy Ace bandages, so he had to scotch tape his vertebrae together. It was a different game.

i have had a 3rd degree and it took about a year (surgery needed)........... that is a complete tear though
champ had a 2nd degree - partial tear or very strained
1st degree.......... i bet he could play but you can forget about him going for fades for at least this week, it hard to lift your arms above you nose level

Javon played with it yesterday if he hurt it on the play I remember.
It was early on a WR screen. He got a block and went upfield and it looked initially like he took some helmet to helmet contact. But on the replay it look like he got hit in the chest/shoulder area with his arm at an awkward angle.
If that was the play he caught 3 or 4 more balls afterwards. I realize the pain came today but he should be able to play this week.

I wonder if they'll rest him against the Bengals and then trot him out for the Niners. I'd like to see him suit up for the next two injury free somehow. Javon could torch both of these next two secondaries, if he is healthy.
And Javon has done so much of his damage on the road this year. It would be nice to see him own someone at Invesco.
Remember when Griese made that token appearance in the Goodbye to Mile High sendoff against the Niners. Threw two passes before being blasted to the ground, and had his shoulder all mashed up again. Ouch!

I really really really hope he can play. Remember a QB who used to play for us (Plummer) had a 1st degree shoulder separation diving for an first down, then was able to play the next week after 7 days off. I'm pretty sure it was the throwing shoulder, so Walker should be able to raise his arm in that case.

Yeah.
We win + Jax, KC and NYJ all lose.
We own tiebreakers with everyone outside of KC so KC has to lose for us to clinch.
We win then Cincy has loss #6 or #7 depending upon tonights game.
Jax loses puts them at #7 nd Jets loses puts them at #7.
Our conference record ends up at 8-4 and the final game is an NFC opponent.

Javon will play, this shouldn't be an issue. As long as his knees are healthy, he will still get open. Even if you run him deep and pass to intermediate receivers, his contributions will loom large because now everyone has to start double-teaming him again. If they don't respect him, they will get burned.

How's that gonna work?
We only have 2 games left.
And why would they rest him in the most important game of the year.
What are we saving him for?
The Niners?

Im wondering where the hell Cobbs has been all year too. I think he would fit our offense better than anyone we have right now. I know he got the preseason action against mainly backups, but he looked the best to me. Looked like he had great vision and pretty good speed for his size. Id like to see him get a chance.

Good find on the illustration TJ,
While not lurking on the Mane, I work as a physical therapist

He'll likely play this week with a brace to prevent too much overhead reaching and try to avoid stiff arming Deltha with the sore arm as he tries a weak attempt to slow JW down as he races by for his 4th touchdown of the day :)

He finished the game and Shanahan said he'd be fine. This reminds me of the hand wringing that went on when Brandon Marshall tore his PCL. It sounds bad but if you look at what actually happened, it's not that bad.

It's tough for a receiver to play with this injury and be effective because it limits your arm extention and the power needed for the ability to push off the CB and gain separation in that 5 yard zone where contact is allowed. We really seem to be getting hit at the most inopportune times with key injuries. As far as Tatum goes...I've pretty much concluded he's just to fragile to be the bell cow for this offense. We need a workhourse...maybe we find one in the draft this year. I think Mike Bell will play well in his absense though. Give him 20+ carries and let's see if he can replicate the Colts game.
The good news is that we might catch a break injury-wise in 2007 since this stuff seems to by cyclical sometimes.
Per ESPN Walker has a seperated shoulder and will be listed as questionable this week.
Not sure if this has been posted yet or not...I didn't see it on the front page of threads.

This means that Walker will still try to play and Tatum will pu$$y foot through the hole like he normally does when he says he is injured. Mike Bell please put this guys playing time to rest. For some reason I think Bobby Turner feel more comfortable with Mike Bell in there. If Mike Bell runs wells Saturday, then I have strange feeling he will be the back in the playoffs for this team, and Tatum will be back in the 10-15 carry role

The key words were when he healthy. I like Tatum and he has shown a toughness this year, but when you aren't available coaches are going to look for guys that are there and willing to step in and prove something. You can not help your team win if you're in the tub.

Tatum Hater Defined: Anybody who despises a guy that has more talent than most players that have run the ball in Denver yet never becomes that elite back he should be, does not take advantage of this exceptional system on a consistent basis, shows he has no running instincts, jukes himself out more than most defenders, fails to completely hang on to the ball in clutch situations, is fragile as Bambi, and runs much the same when he is knicked up...
If this is what classifies a Tatum hater than yes sir, I despise Tatum Bell.

For what it is worth, I have watched and read the transcript of Shanny's press conference from Monday and he does indeed talk about Javon's Injury, but says nothing about Tatum being injured. He talked about Bobby T going with the hot back which was obviously Mike Bell. But nowhere is there a mention of Tatum being hurt.
He was asked the question if Darrent's injury is simillar to what Tatum's was, but he does not mention that Tatum is hurt.
Seems to me that Tatum just had an off day, and Bobby T's confidence in him was shot when he fumbled.

Easy to follow the lemmings and go with the majority. Lynch has had a bad year compared to what I EXPECT a pro bowl player to be. Most true fans understand that. Is it just me or has LJ and LT ran for over 100 yds in all four games against SD and KC? More often than not, thats #47 who is hugging the ground grasping at shoe laces. I could point out passing deficiencies as well but its actually the run defense where he has been the most disappointing.
As for Tatum... he has taken three years to take the starter's role... and even that has been in doubt this season despite a few solid games. If you don't take my word for it, does Mike Shanahan show much confidence in him? He was willing to put a undrafted FA in his spot. As soon as you see the draft and FA roll around we will AGAIN be looking for a HB.
Call it whatever you want. I'm confident in my evaluations of the team. Come this offseason you'll see us looking hard at these two area's because i'm right.

Lynch has missed a few tackles this year, but not nearly as many as you suggest. He's also only been burned once in coverage that I can remember.

Tatum was on pace for 1500 yards before he suffered 2 turf toe injuries. He's also run much harder this year and showed better vision than in years past. He's also not as fragile as people here believe. All of his injuries have been relatively serious injuries.
As far as next year, I'm on the record as saying I would like to draft Michael Bush and use Tatum as a change of pace back.

If you are too blind to miss Lynch whiffing on tackles, I don't know what to tell you. You can pick a plethora of games... start with STL, KC x 2, SD x 2 or Pittsburgh. After playing Oakland and Cleveland, our defense went down hill. It started with Lynch.
As for Bell... all of his injuries have been relatively serious? Didn't he have a bruised sternum at one point that kept him out a couple of games? TB is fragile. I support him because he is a bronco but he is a average back with great speed in a good system. He is Trung Candidate in Denver... or Michael Bennett.
No more, no less. Start Mike Bell, he has more instincts.

It should be... some people are thinking because Lynch got voted to the pro bowl that he is playing well and not that the AFC just has very average safeties after Polumalu (inj) and Ed Reed. There are those two and everybody else.
I'm surprised Rodney Harrison didn't make it in on name rep alone. If Lynch can, anybody can.

You must be watching a different team than I am, because I haven't noticed Lynch missing more than a few tackles, and I've seen every single game this year (several of them I have watched multiple times).

Lynch is basically playing a "short short" (softball term) LB position. His his run coverage is good, his pass coverage isn't getting it. Gold could probably play that version of Safety better.

I kinda agree and disagree with you there. Lynch is not gonna cover the slot receiver that well, but he's a smart player who makes good decisions and gets in good positions, which prevents him from getting burnt deep.

Im wondering where the hell Cobbs has been all year too. Id like to see him get a chance.
I think he has become myspace buddies with TJ Duckett.

I think you are crazy. I imagine that Wilson has missed less despite having to take on blocks and having a broken thumb.
Lynch is just way overated. That is my oppinion. I've also seen him probably as much as you have.
