Shanahan likes Ekuban at DT
Shanahan believes the Broncos have had better success rushing the passer with Ebenezer Ekuban playing inside. Ekuban is now healthy after being banged up for the past several weeks. Denver will need a pass rush Sunday. The Cardinals' offensive line has improved immensely over the course of the season. Arizona quarterback Matt Leinart has been sacked only four times in the past five games.

"I think when Ebenezer has been inside, we have had pressure from the outside because he is a force to deal with when he has been healthy inside," Shanahan said. "We've missed him for a few weeks, but he is healthy now, and when he has been inside, we have been a better pass-rushing team."

Yea, he was a force against San Diego.

yeah i saw that part on NFL network. Ekuban has gotten pressure inside. But i still think hes just a rotational guy

You can't blame Shanny for looking for answers...Warren seems to be allready on vacation plans on Orbitz, and the rush is incredibly pathetic. I don't even think you could consider it a pass rush.

Shanny is making all the moves he thinks might work...I'm afraid the offensive talent at the skill position need polish, we have some vets that are fading and Coyer is too much of a mudder to make a mad dash.

Our pass rush is more like a pass dance. I was really hoping I would have to change my name a couple of years ago. :oyvey:

I'm not sure a guy listed at 275lbs is really going to do much at DT long term.

That line has only allowed 2 sacks in like the past 4 games. Looks like they'll be pushing that to 2 in 5.

They are built to pass the ball, its not going to be easy.

Eck has been getting after it recently & persuing the ball. If he is finally 100% I would like to see what he can do with out any excuses.

This DL needs dominant DT's to be successful. If we were to draft a dominant DT, things would open up for the ends. You could rotate Ebenezer, Engelberger, Lang, and Dumervil and be alright if you had Ted Washington or Rich Seymour in there.

It's time to get serious about the D-Line. No more excuses.

Actually no, it's not the time to get serious about the D-Line.

We don't have any first round studs sitting on the bench along the DL do we?
Free agency/Draft are next year.

Shanahan's already done/made changes to positions where he had the depth and better players available. That's the whole point.

No more drafts where we pick all of our D-Linemen from the 4th round down. We need the big dogs.

A massive, dominant DT would change the whole dynamic of this defense. It would be worth a few draft picks to get a real DT.

No doubt. Champ's statistics would reflect his ability, and it would be less his responsibility to help in the run game. I always have found it disappointing that great players' talent is routinely hidden in this defense. Al Wilson, Trevor Pryce, Bailey, etc. all do not have the statistics to show their worth. Champ's are good, but his play is much more than good. We should be able to force QB's to throw at him instead of letting them choose any other area to pick apart.

Just a thought.... BLITZ!... like i said just a thought.

I would love to know what happened in the offseason that made Coyer afraid of last years defense... just don't get it.

Put in Foster...Ha! At least he might eat up some space instead of brownies...Wow that came out strange. He might even get in shape for once. Slacker.

Taco has defended him, but getting benched for a nobody basically validated what several of us were saying. Wait...he IS a nobody.

Doesn't matter, he's going to be gone soon anyway and we get to start all over.

If nothing else, a big DT that prevents teams from running well up the middle and make them go outside and with the speed of the LB's, that wouldn't work well either. Warren has been MIA much of the year and Myers is really a backup type IMO. Veal is also a backup type and Burton is probably just a backup type as well.

That would be an idea. There would be our big 300+ pounder next to Warren. Crazy, but i don't think any idea right now is a bad one.

I just hope the Broncos brain-trust accepts reality for this week's game and schemes some assistance on DW's side of the field. Those Cardinal WRs can definitely burn you deep.

I think Coyer overcompensated for his unit's poor performance against the pass last year. Last year we threw the house at teams on every play. Now, it just looks like vanilla, cover 2 stuff. As you know, cover 2 is useless without penetration up fron, i.e... it's useless for Denver.

I think this week is the time to return to some heavy blitzing. Leinart probably hasn't seen everything yet, and they're a pass-first team. We can't let him sit in the pocket while our D-line plays pattycake. Those WRs will tear us apart.

Time to bring it... and just hope for the best.

Great...let's put in Elvis at 260 soaking wet and 275 Eke at DT and expect our undersized (sans a lost D.J.) to mop it up.

I was afraid Warren was playing for a contract...I feel like throttling him...He laughed all the way to the bank, but we didn't have many options. This is exactly what many of us were afraid of.

Minnesota isn't a real caliber playoff team, but they sure as hell can stop the run with the dual monsters, the Williams twins. Kevin and Pat. They have serious problems at skill positions, which I consider RB, QB, WR and CB, but at least they are able to stand up people at the LOS. We have become a sieve on both sides of the ball.

SoCal thinks it's a thin draft at DL but I'm sure I might delve into it a little deeper. Our lines are simply bad right now. We are overpowered on the OL, and the DL seems lazy. Anyone trying to blame Cutler for the 48 points didn't see the Roidinator going off the edge with no help for Pears. It's no surprise that Jay fumbled, but he didn't throw any picks.

I'm getting sick of limping into the playoffs only to be castrated. *grumbles*

At least we would get some highlight either way for either team. If the team isn't in desperation mode by now they are in a coma.

I'm with you popps, last year we were #1 in the nfl for blitzing this year we are last... WTF?

Time to bring the hurt again, with a fast D like ours we should bring the houe on every single play. I am so tired of sitting back and watching people pick us apart. This mystery pass rush we keep waiting for isn't going to happen.

Regarding Blitzing...It seems that when we do blitz, the LB's get clogged up somehow at the LOS rendering that blitz ineffective. The QB still has all day to scrutinize the field, and make easy throws for big plays. When you blitz, aren't you supposed to take the route that is a straight shot to the QB? Watch the film...

DW was did get a couple of sacks on blitzes last year if I remember correctly.

And when they do blitz, they bring a safety or LB 10-15 yards from the line of scrimmage after the snap and the ball is long gone before the blitzer gets anywhere near the QB, so even the blitzes that rarely come are of little importance it seems.

I saw you could buy bobble head dolls of the father holding the lamp on line. If I would have seen them earlier, I would have bought some for gag gifts. Also saw a string of Christmas lights that were leg lamps.

It was perfectly obvious to anyone watching that Ek brought pressure when he was moved inside against Cleveland (and also Baltimore I believe).

Good move (for the short term).
