Since it's playoff time, maybe the mods could let this one live on the main board for a day or so?

Well, did you make your playoffs?

Any tough decisions you're facing?

Kick it around with the rest of us.

I made the playoffs in 1 league, and it's a $600 payout (CBS league) if I win the next two games.

My two quandaries:

QB:
Cutler at Arizona (Leaning towards Jay, heavily!)
E. Manning v. Phil
V. Young at Jville.

RB
Julius Jones
Marion Barber
Believe it or not, both are scoring about equal. But, barber had only two carries for -1 yard last week.

Whatcha think?

Let's hear your conundrum.

I'm in a divisional title game this week. My connundrum is that I'm going to get my ass kicked, but I'm the commissioner. Should I bench a bunch of his guys and play dumb?

Ok, seriously... My connundrum is my 2nd flex spot. I've got Wali Lundy, Dominic Rhodes, Reggie Brown, and Ernest Wilford... I haven't decided who to put in yet. Probably going to be Rhodes.

ok. first round of the playoffs.
I got
QB Vince Young (Jax) or Jay Cutler (Ari) or Delhomme (Pit. but questionable)
RB Steven Jackson
RB Frank Gore (Seattle) or Brian Westbrook (NYG) or Chester Taylor (NYJ. but injured)
WR Chad Johnson
WR T.O
WR Devery Henderson (Was) or Joe Horn (Was) or Roy williams (GB) or Hines Ward (Car. but questionable)
TE LJ Smith
D/ST Broncos (Arizona), Falcons (Dallas) or Bills (Miami)
K: Jason Hanson
I'm leaning towards Vince, Jackson, Frank Gore, Chad, TO, Devery, LJ, Bills D, and Hanson.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated

BTW, i'm facing, peyton, rudi johnson, willie parker, marvin harrison, and the bears D, among others

I made the playoffs in my rookie season of fantasy football!

Here are my decisions:

WR: Starting Donte Stallworth and Deion Branch right now. On the bench are Greg Jennings, Antonio Bryant, Joe Horn and Braylon Edwards. I'm starting Bush at my W/R position, too.

I've pondered picking up Justin Fargas since he's playing the Rams. My starters at RB are Frank Gore and Laurence Maroney.

by the way, popps, i would go with Vince because of the rushing yards, and then julius b/c he gets more touches on average compared to barber.

TJ, I would start reggie brown there, because he is normally a pretty good start, especially with philly on a roll like they are now.

Boob, I would go with Stallworth and then Branch but if Horn plays, then switch Horn and Branch.

I made the playoffs in my rookie season as well and made the fatal mistake of going up against a team with LaDanian & Brees on it in round 1.

Game over, season over, drive home safely.

I struggled my first time out with FF but i was on a 4 game winning streak trying to make the playoffs. But, Heydensmom put a end to my run with a victory this past weekend. Boooooooo! lol Anyhow, i can still win my last game and finish 8-7 which wouldnt be bad for my first time out. :)

made the playoffs in mine as the number 1 seed. the only real problem i have is out of the 4 RB's i have, Thomas Jones, Ladell Betts, Deuce Mcallister, and Edgerin James, who do i start, i have to start 2

Popps, i would honestly go with Eli in that one. Just a gut i have. I would also go with Julius.

Taco, i would go with Reggie, i have him in my league and the only reason he doesnt play is becuase i have Holt, Burress, and Javon. Hes been very consistent when ive seen him.

QB Vince Young (Jax) or Jay Cutler (Ari) or Delhomme (Pit. but questionable)

We're in the same boat, sort of.

I like Young, but not against Jacksonville. I think his miracle season may hit a speed-bump this week. That's a nasty defense.

I also like the combo (strictly from a fantasy perspective of course) of us not being able to stop the pass, playing a team that can't stop the pass. Seems like a perfect recipe for big QB numbers. CBS does penalize for INTs, though... so that makes me a little leery.

E. Manning seems O.K. again, and Philly's pass D has been so-so.

I don't know, the homer in me really wants to go into a FF playoff game with Cutler starting.

Yeah I want to start Jay but I feel that Vince's rushing yards make him more valuable. He'll likely rush for 50+, basically equating to an extra 125 through the air. And I don't want to lose b/c of Jay and have the Broncos lose. Double whammy is too much. Although if I start Jay, he rolls and the Broncos win, I'm gonna be pretty stoked.

The questions are ... Romo or Cutler? Crumpler or Tony?

I'd go Cutler/Crumpler.

Again, I think this is a game where we have nothing to lose airing the ball out, and our pass defense is likely to force us to have to put up a basketball score to win. Seems like a pretty good scenario for a QB who appears ready to break out.

Crumpler has probably been your #1 all year, and I'm not a fan of benching #1 guys during playoff runs. BUT, I wouldn't say it's a BAD move if you gambled there, I just wouldn't choose that spot.

I'm in for a QB duel next week. I have Brees going up against Peyton Manning. Damn Ronnie Brown has been screwing me over all year and decided to cap it off by getting hurt for the stretch run. I felt pretty good about my flex option Marion Barber, but he sucked this week. If Brees keeps on pace, though, I might not need much production from my second RB.

You guys want a quandary? Guess which of these two teams of mine made the playoffs.

Team 1:
Matt Hasselbeck (Sea - QB)
Devery Henderson (NO - WR)
Torry Holt (StL - WR)
Bernard Berrian (Chi - WR)
LaDainian Tomlinson (SD - RB)
Brian Westbrook (Phi - RB)
Alge Crumpler (Atl - TE)
Reggie Brown (Phi - WR)
Lee Evans (Buf - WR)
Frank Gore (SF - RB)
Greg Jennings (GB - WR)
Jake Delhomme (Car - QB)
Maurice Jones-Drew (Jac - RB)
Nate Kaeding (SD - K)
Tampa Bay (DEF)

Team 2:
Matt Hasselbeck (Sea - QB)
Devery Henderson (NO - WR)
Torry Holt (StL - WR)
Deion Branch (Sea - WR)
Ahman Green (GB - RB)
Maurice Jones-Drew (Jac - RB)
Alge Crumpler (Atl - TE)
Joey Galloway (TB - WR)
Lee Evans (Buf - WR)
Reggie Brown (Phi - WR)
Brandon Jacobs (NYG - RB)
Reuben Droughns (Cle - RB)
Greg Jennings (GB - WR)
Nate Kaeding (SD - K)
Seattle (DEF)

If you kinda figured that this was a trick question and that the stacked Team #1 was the team to inexplicably miss the playoffs, you are right. I can't believe I had LT, Holt, Gore, etc and I missed the playoffs. A lot of bad luck for that team. Like the day that LT had 4 TDs against Cincy, my opponent had Palmer and Chad Johnson. There were a lot of days like that for that team.

Anyways, while we're on topic, who would you guys start (for Team #2) for my first round playoff game this weekend?

I cannot believe there´s any team that had LT and missed the Playoffs. LT alone would have been enough to carry most teams to the Playoffs. And you even had Crumpler, Gore and Holt, too. Jesus.

I have Palmer, Leinart, and Cutler-need to start 2.

Palmer is a must play every week so that leaves Cutler vs. Leinart, which is a huge dillema. I could see us getting no pass rush and Leinart moving the ball methodically down the field, picking on Dwill. Cutler is more of an unknown with only 2 games under his belt. I liked what I saw last week and think he'll have a solid game. I'll probably end up making the homer call (possibly the objective one) and starting Cutler. Any input would be appreciated.

Leinart will probably get 300+ yards passing and a td and a pick or 2, Jay will go about 200-250 with 2-3 td's and a pick, i got Cutler.

Quarterback Jay Cutler (http://www.kffl.com/player/13538/nfl) seems to have settled into the offense and has had relatively good results. In his first two games in the National Football League, Cutler has averaged 166 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and one interception per game. This week, Cutler is a strong play as a bench or injury-replacement quarterback. He could produce for fantasy owners later this season with his upcoming light schedule.
The Cardinals (http://www.kffl.com/team/6/nfl) allowed opposing quarterbacks to accrue 269 yards passing, two passing touchdowns and 0.5 interceptions per game in the last four weeks. Arizona has averaged 3.3 sacks per game and has allowed opposing passers a 63.8 percent completion percentage in that timeframe.

12-14-2006, 10:08 PM
Jay Cutler (http://www.kffl.com/player/13538/nfl), Denver Broncos (http://www.kffl.com/team/15/nfl) at Arizona Cardinals (http://www.kffl.com/team/6/nfl) Head coach Mike Shanahan (http://www.kffl.com/player/1964/nfl) has taken a lot of heat since turning to Cutler a couple of games ago. While the Broncos (http://www.kffl.com/team/15/nfl) are 0-2 under Cutler, the numbers he is putting up aren't all that bad. Cutler is completing 52.9 percent of his passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns per game in his two starts. He is doing fairly well at limiting the mistakes too, as he is only throwing one interception per game.
If the Broncos (http://www.kffl.com/team/15/nfl) want to keep their slim playoff hopes alive, Cutler may need to light it up this weekend. Luckily, he faces a Cardinals (http://www.kffl.com/team/6/nfl) defense that has been lit up by quarterbacks the last four games. In those games, the Cardinals (http://www.kffl.com/team/6/nfl) are giving up 269 passing yards and two touchdowns per game. Meanwhile, they are only picking off one pass per game in those games. Since Cutler hasn't been too fantasy-friendly, though, we recommend you keep him on your bench unless your regular starter is injured.

minibronco
12-14-2006, 10:08 PM
Why not Leinart:

When Leinart took over as the starting quarterback for the Cardinals (http://www.kffl.com/team/6/nfl) about midway through the season, it was about the only correct thing head coach Dennis Green (http://www.kffl.com/player/9132/nfl) has done in the desert. Since Week 11, Leinart has been one of the best fantasy quarterbacks in the league. In those games, he is averaging 264 passing yards, 1.3 passing touchdowns and only 0.8 interceptions per game. Leinart has also scored one rushing touchdown in those four games. Don't expect that to be common though, as he is averaging negative rushing yards per game (minus-0.3) the last four games.
This week, Leinart gets a little tougher defensive test. The Broncos (http://www.kffl.com/team/15/nfl) have just as many interceptions as touchdowns allowed (one each per game) the last four games. Quarterbacks have thrown for decent yards in those games though, averaging 208 passing yards per game. With a little good and bad in this matchup, Leinart is still worthy of a starting spot in your lineup. He has simply been too good the last month.

Oh well, can't collect every year or it would be boring, right?

No.
