"Soy is feminizing, and commonly leads to a decrease in the size of the penis, sexual confusion, and homosexuality." - James Ruft (chairman of Megashift Ministries and founder/chairman of Open Church Ministries)

There is no way that this guy believes what he writes. Is the World Net Daily akin to "The Onion"???

Not to rain on you guys' parade... and I certainly wouldn't want to give Ruft the time of day...

...BUT there are chemical compounds in soy beans called phytoestrogens. They're plant-based hormones similar to estrogen, and may have some similar effects on genetic males. This is fairly well-known among drag queens and M2F transgendered people. Soy is one of several herb or plant compounds that some of them take in hopes of feminizing effects.

The catch is that plant-based phytoestrogens, whether from soy or other herbs, are far lower in strength than regular estrogens. You'd have to eat one HELL of a lot of soy, or swallow a bunch of concentrated capsules every day, for weeks or months to notice any effect at all.

The story may not be complete bushwah, but it's way exaggerated.

m.

Thanks Sister...My point was that this guy is a moron. Plain and simple. I didn't put in Mr. Ruft's other quotes about giving soy formula to infants which would account for "todays rise in homosexuality", or the fact that feeding your infant daughter soy formula can make her "reach menarche as young as the age of seven", or the fact that "soy sauce is fine...miso, natto and tempeh are also okay...but avoid tofu." I know you get the point, but there are others lurking about...

It's psuedo-science at its best. Taking a grain of scientific truth and stretching it to a fallacy.
