This thread may have already been started before but...**** it.
Where do you think Jake will wind up?
My money is on one of the following: Houston (just because of Kubiak), Buffalo, or Chicago.

No way Chicago they have two bad QBs already. Houston maybe so but depends on what they pay him. In other threads Minnesota has been mentioned because they have Tevarious Jackson who still needs to develop and Brad Johnson is clearly running out of steam.

Yeah, I was thinking about the Chicago QB's too. But I was thinking about how Chicago was after him right before Denver snagged him away from AZ. Now that he has developed a pretty good resume with Denver, they may have more interest now.

Minnesota seems like a good fit, but I don't know why they wouldn't give Chris Simms a shot before they went to Plummer. Simms may have more upside, though I wouldn't want to be the person gambling on it. I think his youth will give him the edge at the negotiation table though.
I don't know that Jake is going to have a lot of starting options after playing his way out of a starters job in Denver. I'm definitely not interested in getting into an argument over it, because honestly, I don't care where he goes unless he decides to restructure his deal to stay here as a back-up, which would be ok with me. We're definitely going to have a need there.

Another spin on it could be that his agent uses the result of our season however it ends to make a case that he was doing fine as a starter. They may be able to sell Minnesota on that plus his record here. I also could see him going to Houston because David Carr has really fallen out of popularity there. I heard something like in the last 5 or 6 games he has as many TDs as Ledanian Tomlinsen, 1. Kubiak might want to try and draft a QB and bring Jake in because he obviously knows the system. I just can't see Jake staying to back up he has to much will to win and play.

Jake's problem is going to be the way his play was affected by competition from behind. His role on any team willing to take him as a starter would be to stand in while they get a younger guy ready to play. Essentially what Jon Kitna did with Cincinnatti. The only difference is that Jon Kitna was able to keep Carson Palmer on the bench the entire season. It doesn't do a team any good to bring in a transition quarterback if he's going to have their fans up in arms by mid-season to start the rookie.

Houston.
Kubes will also Land Clinton Portis with in 2 seasons (since Betts signed an extension) and he'll have the same team he had in 2003.

Carr for Plummer?
On second thought, nah I've had my fill of QB-controversies. They suck.

I wasn't saying Carr was coming here. It was either Clayton or Mort on the Blitz.

I know. I was being a wise-ass. Carr would be a great guy to have if Cutler wasn't our clear #1 next year. I wonder if we could make a deal with a team like Minny. Send them Plummer and we take Brad Johnson. We need a guy capable of winning games and supporting Cutler. But we also need a guy that is not a threat to Cutler's status as the unquestioned #1.

I think Houston would be a good place for Plummer to go. He might do
fairly well being back with Kubes.

He'll end up a back up in the NFC somewhere.

Trade Jake to Chokeland for Tyler Brayton. I can't stand a Buff wearing those colors.

A scout team in the NFC. He wont go to the Fade, Davis hates "rag arm" QB's. Send him to Wash. We seem to be doing well with that trading pipeline.

Believe it or not, we might be able to weasle something out of Jake from Washington.
Their QB crew is pathetic...Campbell is a certified bust, Brunell is washed up and some guy named Rock brings up the rear.
I just don't know how many more times we can rape them before they wake up.
A second day pick would be more than I would of thought...a third would be laughable. They actually DO need a veteran QB and Jake played with Portis so there is at least some chemistry there.
We could also make a move to change draft picks. Now I'm salivating.
Imagine us switching first round picks for Jake. Heh..we give up our third from Lelie, then swap spots. it's not that big of a deal because we are likely going to draft around 22 or so if we miss the playoffs.
"Give Up" Jake and his 7 million dollar anchor, throw in a 3rd, and get a damn pass rusher. Hell, I'll give them back their 4th in 08 as a kicker.
I want to move up to find a god damn pass rusher. It's thin according to SoCal...but maybe we can find something if we move up.
I'm just dreaming I guess....Jake blew chunks this year so it's a fantasy we would get anything. Somehow stealing the Skins first rounder would be priceless tho.

Yeah on cold pizza the other day they had that one segment with people from different papers around the country giving little tidbits of news. Someone from im assuming a houston paper said straight out that theirs talking that carr is on the outs and that plummer could be the replacement. Thinking plummer could replicate his 2005 success being under kubes again.

I doubt Washington is ready to give up on Campbell. Minnesota is a real option with Brad Johnson not doing well. Cleveland is also a strong possibility with Charlie Frye stinking it up...

I dont care who I just hope its the highest bidder. Is it possible to get him traded instead of cutting him. That would get us a pick and the other team may avoid a FA bidding war???

Denver can't trade him, his cap hit will be high and we have little room left.
By cutting him the hit is spread out better.

I'm sure something could be done about that. I mean hypothetically Couldn't shanny, kubiac, and plummer do some sort of restructure then trade/sign? As long as all parties agree on the money and where it's coming from, it should be cool.
I am very bad at the financial aspect of the game.

Problem is Plummer's contract is only left with money that is unguaranteed so restructuring is pointless when they can cut him and dump that money. Where the cap hit comes into play is that it is how his roster and signing bonus is spread out. Since contracts are so frontloaded now they cap stipulates how those aspects get doled out.

No way Jake goes to Oakland. Dude doesnt have the arm strength for the bombs away, 1960s Al Davis style of ball. Also, for Jake to go there, we would have to cut him cuz I dont think Shanny/Bowlen would ship their starting QB to the darkside with the keys to the castle. And due to that 2nd point, I would probably guess he goes NFC.
Green Bay might need someone if Brett hangs em up and Rogers doesnt heal. Minn gets a lot of mentions. Maybe he will stay here? Should be interesting.
