View Full Version : How does it feel to be lied to?

According to many on this board (me not included), Mike Shanahan never really meant what he said when he stated "I am putting Jay Cutler in because he gives us the best chance to win now". Instead, many are claiming that what he really meant, is that even though the Broncos were in the playoff race, he was pulling the plug on the season, so he can get the rook some practice for next year.
If you are foolish enough to subscibe to this theory, what does that say to vets like Rod Smith?
Who here would want to play for a coach like that? One that asks you to play hard no matter what happens around you. Then yanks the rug on you and quits during a playoff run?
IMO, Shanny meant exacly what he said. He put Cutler in to win now. That only makes him stupid. However, if he was lying to the team that puts it on the line for him, then that makes him a jackass.
Enjoy your waffles.

“I wouldn’t be bitter if they let me go,” perennial Pro Bowl tight end Tony Gonzalez told me when the locker room cleared out.......
“But right now, to me, winning is more important (than staying in KC),” Gonzalez said.

Broncos offense under Plummer: 16.2 points per game
Broncos offense under Cutler: 20.0 points per game
Jake Plummer: 1 TD passes per game on average
Jay Cutler: 2 TD passes per game on average
Tell me again how Cutler isn't outperforming Plummer and how he isn't giving them a better chance to win right now. It's high comedy, but then your endless hard on for Shanahan always has been.

I never said that, though it doesn't surprise me that that's your only comeback when presented with facts.
Cutler is outperforming Plummer, therefore he's giving the Broncos a better chance to win than Plummer did. Herm Edwards must be rubbing off on you since you seem to be mailing in your attempts at smack now that December is here.

are you serious?
im enjoying watching the young man develop, but damn!!
those are some of the most misleading stats you'll ever read.
cutler fumbled 3 times sunday, with 1 being lost.
he also threw for 37 yards in a 1st half where we went down 28-3.
in his 1st start, he was SO MUCH worse than his starts its hard to put into words.
he literally only made 2 impressive throws all night, and then one other pedestrian throw (the td to marshall) that went for a score.
he hasnt been anywhere near as good as plummer was/is, but he ABSOLUTELY shows promise for the future.

I am thoroughly convinced that Cutler gives us our best shot at winning, even if that isn't a good enough shot to beat the Chargers. Plummer would've lost those games(Can Plummer play Defense and find a way to stop LT?).
Early in the Season, we were praying for 20 point performances on offense.
What's changed since then? The Quarterback's play?

The thread really isn't about Cutlers play. Its about the posters on this board and thier opinion of what Shanahans word means to them.
I'm asking if they think he was honest, and thought Cutler gave him the best chance to win. Or do they think he lied and was cutting bait on the team?
