What really has me scratching my head is that we have the fastest set of linebackers in the league and they have the least amount of sacks in the league. Is something wrong here? I think Gold has a couple of sacks and i don't think Wilson and DJ have any. We don't use there speed, we just keep them at bay with that stupid zone scheme that isn't producing anything. The bend but don't break is for a slow defense, why do we have it and we have one of the fastest defenses in the NFL? Why aren't we using Wilson's, Gold's and DJ's speed to attack the line of scrimmage and the QB? The entire defensive coaching staff needs to be fired. We aren't using the talent we have to attack other teams. It's really embarrasing watching our so called great defense get worked over week in and week out and our fast speedy linebackers not attacking with their speed. Bowlen needs to really think about where this team is headed with his current coaching staff.

The mistake was assembling such a tiny linebacking crew. Our finessebackers aren't designed to attack the line of scrimmage.

That's no excuse. They should be blitzing and swarming that QB every chance they get. Speed kills and we aren't using ours.

They're having to drop into coverage after the initial pass rush fails.

Remember we did that last year...Shanny said they wanted to play it straight this year and let the D-line make the plays with the pass rush...

Well that is what he said. ;D

What pisses me off that is that T. Pryce has played his best football since his 2 year when the Greise era took over. Pryce played last year like he was taking a couple games off and then would show up. I really hate T. pryce and the stupid move not to bring back M. Anderson for this year.

Its ridiculous to expect the "best linebackers in football" to actually take over a game once in a while.

We should just line Ian up on the edge every passing down and let him stare the offensive tackle right in the eye. Maybe the guy will burst out laughing and Ian can dart through his legs.

Agreed, it was like we sent boys to do a man's job, or brought three knives to a gun fight.

They looked like they were slap-fighting junior high school girls. They should have been punishing LT every time they could, but they were spending all day trying to slap the ball out of his hands like three matched fruits.

Bring some pain you pansies. Time to put in the fellow they picked up from Cincy in the offseason...what's his name? He tackles like he means it. Let's see some snot fly next week boys. Make them cry for momma.

These guys need to be up on the line of scrimmage blitzing. Let Lynch play his position at safety. Our Dline can't sack my grandmother, we need our fast linebacking crew up front and attacking the QB. Baltimore has a 4-3 and i see their linebackers in the opposing backfield all game. We need to use our speed. If Shanny and Coyer cant see that, and i guess they haven't yet, we won't win another game this year. If that happens, heads need to roll.

Have you taken a look at Adalius Thomas and Bart Scott?

Hence the lack of sacks, they can't shed blockers... DJ Williams may be the only exception with potential as a rushing LB IMO

Again, no excuses. We need to show our linebacking speed by attacking the QB, the alternative has not worked. Bend but don't break has broke, we need to attack. Those guys should be swarming, instead they are standing around in their zones getting beat. If you send them, somebody is going to break through and apply the pressure, or at least hurry the QB into an ill advised throw. We are not doing any of that.

Agreed, the problem is scheming, not personnel.

There is collapsing the pocket with bull rush and then there is using your speed to stunt against man blocking schemes. If you are fast enough, you can hit a gap before the rotating center/guard can get there. If then you are picked up by a runningback, you should expect the linebacker to win the matchup.

Still, the issue here is, when other teams blitz they create a 1on1 situation for their best pass rusher who knows the blitz is comming and can win that matchup.

we simply don't have anyone like that. we need a duo of maybe a drafted D-tackel and Simeon Rice from Tampa. I can only dream...

Al Wilson sucks at blitzing. D.J. hasnt shown crap at blitzing. Gold stinks at it too. I think the only good year our lbs had at sacking the qb was in 2002. Al with 5 and Gold with 7. Im not sure but I also thought we were running some wierd crap where Gold was acting like a DL at times.

We went from being the '42 cardinals to the '06 cardinals in just a few games. It's a shame and i'm getting immune to each loss now. I really don't care anymore. We aren't going anywhere until this defense starts attacking the opposing offenses and if that means dismantling the entire thing, then so be it. I'm getting sick of these yearly mid season collapses. Last year was the only year that we didn't have a mid season collapse.
