View Full Version : Brandon Marshall looking good!

This is looking pretty good. After his amazing 1.5 hand catch, Shanahan put him in more plays. Although he had that easy catch turn into a drop, this guy looks like a great play maker. His size is definitely a threat. I like this kid a lot...
On another note, Tatum Bell played a great game. If anyone has noticed, he has GREATLY improved his game. He runs much harder and stronger. We don't need another RB if he can stay healthy.
Honestly, if the defense stepped up today and came to play in the first half, we would be in it. Cutler had no breathing room today, playing down and under pressure. If we played the game like we did in the second half the WHOLE game, it would have been a much better game for us.
Oh, Darrent Williams sucks.

I think the season is officially over, but as soon as we are eliminated from the playoffs (or now) we need to make him the full time #2 WR and get him some experience.

Cutler apologists forget to point out that it was not a great pass. Good catch by Marshall.
I don't apologize for being a Cutler fan... he is the best QB on this roster.

Rascal, I read your post and I understand you believe the season is over. And honestly, there are things that do lead that way. But I do have faith in this team...I believe we can win 3 straight games. If Darrent Williams had stopped some of those plays that gave SD a big play, we we would have been in the game. Something needs to happen on that side of the ball.
If our defense can play how they did to start off the season, I think our offense can start clicking. You just need to have faith in our team.

I like Marshall a LOT!! That catch he made was SICK!!
We need to get him the ball more.
Tatum played well too, but that's been the case in every game he's started.
I'm very happy with the way these young players are stepping up. Scheffler finally had a good game too!

Cutler doesn't need any apologists. He's not the 10 year vet who choked our season away with his pathetic play...just a rookie trying to get better in a difficult situation. Jay will toss some picks because of inexperience or overconfidence in his arm, but the difference is, you won't be seeing the opposing DB's huddling up while the ball floats through the air to flip for who gets the right to snag it.

He did put it between 3 SD defenders on a line and let his wr make a play at it, what else do want him to do??? Not every pass is perfect, but need to close enough for his play maker to do something.
PLummer attemptd that play and it's INT, Cutler has arm to take that chance just like Elway used to

Sorry I'm not the type of person that can be optimistic when all of my observations say otherwise. I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.
D-will is a problem on defense, but even if we had champs clone at the other CB spot the secondary would still get abused because our d-line is so pathetic.

In addition, Marshall and Colston have very similar builds. Colston has Marshall by about 9 pounds assuming they have not gained or lost any weight during the season.
I hope Shanny gives Marshall a bulk load of plays to be in next game.

We would still get abused? I highly doubt that. Did you see the types of plays D. Will was giving up? It was rediculous. Our D-line is pretty bad in the pass rush, but if we had 2 great CB's it wouldn't be this bad. I remember on a couple 3rd downs D. Will blew the coverage. He just sucks.
We called the right plays today, but we were inefficient in the talent of our players.
Rascal

Yes abused. if they weren't going after D-will they would be going after our LB's and safeties (or did you forget about the huge game Gates had against Lynch and company).

Gates is not on every NFL team. If we had another great CB you're telling me there would be no difference? SMH.

Very few people have seemed to notice this. He also saved our ass with two fumble recoveries this game or else we would've never come within 8 points.

Yeah I almost forgot about those recoveries. He did save our ass a couple times. He's very alert...I do like this guy a lot and he's had 2 straght impressive games.
He's had 249 yards on 40 carries...6.23 YPC since he's been back from the injury.

So I guess I'm the only one who wants to talk about Marshal and not whine about the secondary.
Marshal has had some big catches for us this season. That third down catch was awesome. Sure, it was a great throw, but it was a great catch too. This year has been good for him and had he not been hurt in his first pre-season game, he would probably be further along but those are the breaks. His success this season is really going to help him going into next year.

Tell the truth there was short flair out to Rod in the 2QTR on 3 and 1 that I actually wanted Marshall in the game vs Rod.

12-10-2006, 09:55 PM
I think the most important thing to take out of these last few games is what positions we're secure in so that we don't have to waste draft picks. If we have Walker, Marshall is proving himself as the #2, and Smith a lock for #3 with competent TEs... there's no need to draft a WR at all, in my opinion.
As for someone mentioning Tater, I have been really critical of him but it's really tempting to keep him and Mikey and stick with our current RB situation to avoid needing anymore RBs in the draft. Some glaring holes have been identified this year and I think they need to use all they can to address those issues.
Anyone have any issues with a Walker, Marshall, Smith combo next year and feel the need to draft another wr?

So after two games you are off the Cutler bandwagon. Not just by this post but reading what you have posted elsewhere. Ok well 2 games is San Diego fan like but thats cool. Just hope you don't jump on board when he takes off.
EDIT: This was harsher than I wanted it to be. It just seems like you are bashing him a lot tonight. I thought things really started to come around for him the second half.
Marshall just looks like a great WR in the making. I am very excited on what this team will be able to do down the road.

i really love the way tbell has stepped it up, but if we could get someone like lynch and just beat the other team with 20 runs and 10-15 with tbell. he would be destroying teams!

Two catches for 19 yards and a key drop an everyone is in love? I'm hopeful as well but for all we know this guy could be out of the league quicker than you can say Darius Watts. If the Broncos continue their free fall and end up in the middle of the first round, Dwayne Jarrett is looking really good to me.

well i have been on this board for quite a while now saying that our offense was fine and that the attention needed to go to the defense.
Receivers - walker and marshall looking good, rod a good backup and two youngsters behind as well as kircus
RBs - tatum is good. it is that simple. you are stupid if you say otherwise. there is no need to replace him.
TE - Scheffler re emerged today, definitely thanks to cutler. where has mustard been? i like that guy.
OLine - a possible weakness but who knows with lepsis and meadows back and when not playing against possibily the best front seven in the league(seattles not shabby either). i would like us to draft a tackle on day two
QB - cutler is quickly progressing. his passer rating today was like 90.7, 10th in the league. he played very well but was put in a hole out of the gates.
where we do need improvement....
STs - there has to be a stat for most times screwed by punts inside the 5 yard line and we must lead it. anybody have a drives-started-from-inside-the-10-yard-line stat? Our return game is weak. darrent played well last year but this year it seems like he takes a fair catch every time, he had atleast ten yards today and fair caught it. cant have him misjudging that. KRs - clark has been ok but he continuously wants to drop or bobble the ball and there just arent the type of holes for him that there were earlier in the season
DL - we need a DT and a big DE if possible. ekuban, lang, and dumervil are good but dumervil is situational and lang and ekuban are just first and second down containers who rarely get pressure.
S - we need atleast one safety to groom for lynch who can cover TEs, boy that looked liek a weakness today, poor domfox. another safety would be nice too.
our coverage of the TE today was horrible, im going to look at the tape later this week to see who was to blame.

DL and OL is where this team needs help. The Pass rushing and Pass protection is laughable at best.

You know what impressed me most about Marshall was how he looked on the sidelines after dropping the ball on 3rd down. The man was looking at the ground, but he actually looked pissed to me instead of moping. That type of mentality is going carry him far as a professional.

As long as you've posted here I've never really ever agreed with a single take you've had. I don't think you know anything about football at all. It's probably because ou're a negative poster that happens to also be wrong more often than not.
Jay knew perfectly well that was a tight window and he made the throw because he knows he can do it and that's why he's good. It was a great, pass and a great completion. If it was a bad pass it wouldn't have been completed or it would have been a interception.
I don't know what your problem is but I suspect you're some kind of a Plummer homer who is still sour about the change and when success is achieved by our new QB, who is finally completing passes across the middle of the field for us, you just get more bitter and angry about it. That's the only thing that could explain you being so upset about him having success.

I have been bleh on Tatum but man last week and today he just looked like the back Denver wants him to be. If he can stay healthy I think he can become good. He used a stiff arm today and that is not the Tatum of old it was cool to see.

Exactly he needs to put together a complete season or else he will always have the question mark not only with fans but also with the coaches.
