So the final piece to our schedule was put into place yesterday when Texas scheduled Arkansas St.
That will give us the following out of conference scheudle:
Arkansas St.
TCU
@Central Florida
Rice
What a freaking joke, I hate that the current systems encourges this crap. Untill, scheduling cream puffs really hurts a team I don't see a change.

I have no idea what you are talking about. And even when we schedule cream puffs we lose!!
Shake, isn't there some unwritten rule that UT will play at least one game in Dallas, SA, Houston to appease the UT fan base?
In 2007 the Buffs have
CSU
@ASU
Miami of OH
FSU
and in 2008
@CSU
TBD
UNC (Butch in his second year)
@FSU
2009 (looking like the easiest of the next few years)
CSU
@Miami of Ohio
WYO
@UNC
2010 (Gulp)
@CSU
@ CAL
TBD
UGA

If Texas goes through that schedule and the Big XII schedule unscathed, they get to the BCS title game. What's the problem?

I completely understand that, which is why Mack Brown picks a schedule like this. I just like the excitment that goes along with scheduling a top team. The home and home with Ohio St. over the past two years has been great. It was fun having all those ass holes from Ohio come to Austin. I would much rather go watch a competitive game than watch a 63-0 blow-out of Arkansas St. I also think it builds team confidence when you are willing to take on anyone anywhere. I don't like the "dial up wins" approach.

Well we always have the game against OU in Dallas, and I think there may be some kind long term agreement with TCU and Rice. It may just be with Rice but im not completly sure.

The next four years get a little better with a home and home with Arkansas and then a home and home with UCLA.

I thought they had LSU coming up on the schedule too. I only get to a couple of games a year with my current schedule, but I have had that FSU game reserved for three years.

I want to say LSU is in 2012 or 2013...something like that.
The FSU game is going to be fun!! This time we will have to meet up

Here's the press release, a home and home with LSU, Oregon and Utah. Not too shabby. (http://www.cubuffs.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=3843&SPID=255&DB_OEM_ID=600&ATCLID=609437)

Colorado has a long, proud history of fearless out-of-conference scheduling. We beat both LSU and Penn State in 1971 when we finished #3 in the nation ... and beat Texas, Washington and Illinois in the 1989 11-0 campaign.
But as far as in-conference - didn't we used to alternate between OU and UT year-by-year? The site says we get Oklahoma again next year, but no Texas... and the in-conference schedules past next season are now off the site: http://www.cubuffs.com/SportSelect.dbml?SPSID=3850&SPID=255&DB_OEM_ID=600&KEY=&Q_SEASON=2008

We've had the same rotation of South teams since the B12 started in 1996.
We play UT,OSU and aTm in back to back years then have OU, Baylor and TT for two years. I don't think we've played OU and UT in the same season since the B12 began, including the B12 CCG.
Not sure why future conference games are not being listed on the CUbuffs site, maybe we are heading to the Pac-10;D

That brings up a sad memory ... supposedly Arkansas had an "out" in their SEC contract to join a new conference with Texas within 5 years .... but Ann Richards (a Baylor alum) forced the Big XII to take Baylor instead.
I guess it's not really a sad memory, but Arkansas would make the Big XII a better conference.

I see .... I think I just noticed we never played UT and OU the same year, and assumed it was a rotation.
There is something a little weird there, Pain .... my cousin, an A&M alum and I looked at the CU site about a year ago at the Buffs-Aggies future matchups to plan a roadtrip together, and I'm telling you - the teams were listed through at least 2009. I think the dates might've been missing for the later years though. I'll e-mail Plati, he'll tell us.

On the Texas football site it says in really small print that the Big XII schedules haven't been set beyond 2008.

UTEP inked a deal to do a home-home with texas in 08 and 09. Cant wait!
How do you expect the smaller schools to become anything besides what they are unless they play the larger/rich schools??? Do you know how FSU became what they are? Their coach made them a "road warrior" team for years were they would travel all season long playing larger schools until they gained notoriety. Eventually that formula helped establish their tradition. I think you need to get off your high horse, buddy.

I apologize if it sounds like I'm on a high horse. I have no problem with UTEP, I just don't like the "dial up wins" approch to scheduling. I think it's great if a smaller school goes out there and plays anyone anywhere. Boise St I think has done a pretty decent job of that. Fresno did the same thing. I just would like to see atleast one out of conference opponent from one of the "power" (BCS) conferences. There were rumors that Auburn was looking for an opponent on that date. Sorry if im disappointed that we get Arkansas St. instead.

Yeah, we look to have a pretty tough non-conference next year, playing the Pac-10 and ACC champs. Glad to see some better competition than Louisiana Tech, though. I'm already pumped for that SC game in lincoln.

You and shake oughtta get your bets down now. Will Palmer still be there? The Sun Bowl is a nice venue.

I had a surreal - almost spiritual experience at that stadium once when I lived in El Paso. The Sun Bowl game in 87 was on Christmas Day - Major Harris led West Virginia against BOTH Thurman Thomas and Barry Sanders of Oklahoma State. A damned close game, though I don't even remember who won.
Anyway, I worked at Channel 7 there, KVIA - and I was in the press box watching. I walked past the TV booth and saw Brent Musburger on CBS calling the game. It was a $3 million dollar Bowl game that year with John Hancock Insurance stepping in for the first time.
During a break, I stepped back out of the press box to the cold outdoor stadium walkway ramp - the stadium is literally just 200 or 300 feet from I-10 and the Rio Grande River. And past that I could see the cardboard houses on the Mexican side of the river. There was smoke coming out of a couple and I realized they were keeping warm around fires - and that it was Christmas there, too. I also realized they were probably all hungry in those shacks. I turned around and saw Musburger and realized he was talking to the richest people in the world, supplying them with idle entertainment on Christmas Day - and CBS was paying THREE MILLION dollars for the privilege. But just a quarter-mile away, the poorest people in the world were actually going hungry. It was a very striking contrast.
I'd like to say it changed me - but I'm basically still a greedy bastard ;D

You should play florida every year. It should be a real rivalry instead of just verbal.

great story! and the view/contrast is amazing. I was always struck with that same feeling going to the school. I knew I was going there to better myself and to help strengthen my future, but I would glance down into the valley across the river and constantly be reminded of what I was doing. I went over there about 3 times to help build houses, those were some experiences.
about palmer; this was his senior year. In the last game he had a slight tear of his acl and it is going to take about 6-8 months to recover fully. He should be going (at this rate) in about the 2nd round. He doesnt have as strong of an arm as his brother and unfortunately his time at UTEP was spent behind a weak offensive line. Anyway, we should have a "junior" in at QB by time we play texas, but that's a long ways off and I definitely don't want to put money on that just yet. :thumbsup:

Mav, you humble me. That's incredible that you actually went over there and helped build houses! Like I said, you humble me. Even after that Christmas Day experience I had, I never actually gave up my time for anybody. I lived at Caprock Apartments there in 87 and 88 - way up Mesa about 5 miles north of the Sun Bowl. You anywhere near there?
Is Price still planting that pick-axe in the end zone when the Miners come out for games? Bob Stull was coach when I was there ... they had the same colors as the Broncos then - and it looks like they went dark blue also. I'll watch Jordan Palmer when the draft comes stound for sure. I don't remember him playing against CU in the Houston Bowl 2 years ago though.
Hey - another great UTEP story: When I was there, Don Haskins was still coach, what a charming guy - and a great story-teller. Anyway, he had a wealth of talent at that time. Tim Hardaway, Antonio Davis and Greg Foster were all on that team, and until just 3 years ago, ALL THREE were still in the NBA. Pretty amazing actually. Antonio dated my girlfriend's rrommate, and we made pancakes and watched NFL on a couppla Sunday mornings together. "Brush with greatness," I guess... is he still playing, or was last year his last?
