When I visited www.fireshanahan.com the first time, I felt like Russell Crowe's wife in the movie "A Beautiful Mind," when she stumbles upon his shack out back with the millions of scrap newspaper articles tacked on the walls? A coach has more control over wins and losses than a quarterback does. Shanahan is disloyal and his teams constantly quit on him midseason. Without the Elway and Davis combination he's won one playoff game with either his handpicked QB Griese or Plummer.

Yet, it never happens. I wonder, does a piece of your heart break every time your carefully crafted pseudo-intellectual response falls flat on its face?
Reality: 1 playoff win, 1 division title since Elway retired.
Reality: Constant mid season collapses 2002,2003,2004,2006
Reality: Teams constantly come out not ready to play in big games.

I'm a fan, I want the Broncos to not constantly underachieve and have an opportunity to win championships. Mike Shanahan does not give us this opportunity.

Were you alive when Elway was at Stanford? I doubt you were. There are a lot more similarities than differences. They both went to schools known more for academics than football. In the NFL today the only thing you can hope for is your team to be competitive and be in the hunt every year. If you want real misery try being a fan of the Lions, raiders, Cardinals, etc. Shanny always has the team competitive in the salary cap era. Not many other coaches can do that.

On what planet did Cutler dominate the SEC in college?
You can't be this stupid. He won SEC Player of the Year. At Vanderbilt.
While at Vanderbilt, he started in over 40 consecutive games as quarterback and was named Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week and All-SEC several times. For the 2005 season, he earned the SEC Offensive Player of the Year title after completing 273 of 462 attempted passes for 3073 yards and 22 touchdowns. He finished his college career with a total 8697 passing yards.
In 2002, Cutler set the school record for touchdowns and rushing yards by a freshman and rushed for more yards than any other SEC quarterback that year. By 2004, he had achieved high rankings in nearly every category relevant to his position as quarterback. In that year, he completed over 60% of his passes with over 125 attempts, the highest percentage with 125+ attempts that had ever been achieved by a Commodore.
The 2005 season, his final year of play at Vanderbilt, was his most impressive. He led the Commodores to victories over Wake Forest, Arkansas, Mississippi, Richmond, and Tennessee. The Commodores also scored the second most points ever scored against Florida at their current home field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. They nearly upset the 13th-ranked Gators before falling 49-42 in second overtime.
The Commodores ended their season, and Cutler's Vanderbilt career, against the Tennessee Volunteers with a 28-24 win, their first victory over the Volunteers since 1982, the year before Cutler was born. The win also marked Vanderbilt's first victory over Tennessee on the Volunteers' home field.

One SEC POY award is somehow equal to Elway setting every meaningful Pac-10 passing record, leading the nation in passing touchdowns, and finishing second in Heisman voting his senior year?
Elway is in the College Football Hall of Fame.
Saying that both he and Cutler dominated is an absolute joke of a statement. It's so far beyond the truth that it makes me question whether or not it was serious.

He had one great season, that's not being dominant. Especially when his competition was Chris Leak, DJ Shockley, JaMarcus Russel, Brodie Croyle, Blake Mitchell, Brandon Cox, Michael Spurlock, Andre Woodson, Rick Clausen, Robert Johnson, Erik Ainge, etc.
Leak was in a new system, Shockley and Russel are run first quarterbacks, Clausen and Ainge shared time, and the majority of the rest had capable runningbacks to hand the ball off to.
That, coupled with Cutler having to pass the ball more because his team was constantly playing from behind makes it clear that his season was not "dominant" and was not anywhere near comparable to what Elway did.
Cutler set no SEC records, led the nation in no meaningful statistics, he was not dominant.

Son, you do realize that he was named SEC player of the year, not just quarterback of the year, right? Cutler's competition was every player in the SEC, one of football's toughest conferences, and he was named the player of the year. He also did that without a single player that was invited to the NFL combine.

This is the guy that says Jake Plummer is more talented than Jay Cutler. Jake Plummer himself would argue that he has gotten by this far more on heart than talent.

Vanderbilt is a nerd school in the ultimate jock's conference. They are a perennial SEC bottom feeder because the students who go there are among the top 1% our country has to offer. They haven't even been to a bowl since 1982! It makes Cutler's accomplishments in that conference all the more impressive.

Cutler should be applauded for going to the combine while Vince Young and Matt Leinart stayed home and played it safe. Cutler had nothing to hide. Go back and look at Mel Kiper's November/December draft ratings, Cutler was a 1st round guy long before the combine ever happened. Cutler had 1st round stock to lose and he wasn't afraid to expose everything to the NFL scouts. Speaks volumes of his character.
Not to mention, Cutler also chose to play in the Senior Bowl while Leinart chickened out.

I suggest you read Football outsides Pro Football Prospectuc 2006. Find the quarterback thing in the back. Boller didnt have one good season, he completed 53% of his passes and compared to other qbs who had played prior to him he was showing he was mediocre.
Cutler on the other hand is projected to be a pro bowler, he is compared to Favre cuz both played on crappy teams but completed a way higher percent of passes than the qbs before them...

not only was Boller not a standout QB, his only college production came under QB Mogul Jeff Tedford.
Tedford's system and work with QB's is enough to get many QB's drafted in the first round, especially if you have the measurables. However it was never shown that Boller had the intangibles that Cutler has been lauded for by experts and coaches everywhere. Steve Young, Ron Jaworski, Phil Simms, Chris Mortensen, Merrill Hodge, Sean Salisbury, Mike Mayock, Shanahan, Dan Reeves, Jeff Fisher (who personally liked Cutler the best) and many, many more.
Cutler demonstrated RARE physical and mental attributes before the draft, showed the poise to go through the WHOLE draft process, and increase his support while doing so.
Cutler did not play for a QB guru in college. He did not have a good defense in college to save him. He had next to no playmakers to help out, and had to run for his life from the defenders of the SEC, the most physical and fast college football conference in the nation. He did all of this while taking in a Vanderbilt education, lifting with the lineman so he could stand the beating his teammates allowed him to take, and still putting himself on the map while being at a school that generally makes it through the whole college football season without getting even a mention.
And all this without even bringing up the fact that Kyle Boller played in a very watered down and weak Pac 10 conference, before it had the likes of a dominant USC, during the days where the highly recruited Carson Palmer was underachieving until his senior year and leaving the Pac 10 up for grabs it was so weak.
Kyle Boller and Jay Cutler are not a comparison. This is not to say Cutler will be great, I think he is likely headed in that direction over time, but he has a long way to go.
But you can't make a Boller and Cutler comparison without mentioning, let alone realizing that Jay Cutler overcame and exceeded all odds in his college football career while Kyle Boller took his physical gifts and were inserted with the most proficient QB system under Tedford that college football has seen over the last 20 years.
If you want to know the biggest difference you cannot see yet between Cutler and Boller, wait until Cutler has had time to show his poise. Poise is the one thing that Boller lacks, and it is probably Cutler's biggest strength, even above his ridiculous arm strength.

I think so since I beat you the first time. So the first and second tie breaker (overall record and HTH would be a tie), therefore the third tie breaker is total points.
Oops...points is the second tie breaker not HTH according to the rules, plus my division record is better then yours:
1. Best Record Overall, then tiebreakers as follows
2. Points Scored (Meaning total points for your team during the regular season)
3. Head to Head (If the two teams played each other more than once, and split their series, tiebreaker #4 goes into effect)
4. Division Record (If it gets this far, the Team with the best division record gets the berth)
5. Power Rankings (As determined by CBS Sportsline)
------
I think I had it figured out that I needed to win 1 of my last games and not be outscored by 170 points to secure a first round bye, and since I beat ointment last week I got it (actually I'm 163 points higher). Which I really needed with K Jones and Colston being dinged up.

Actually I think if you win and maintain your 100 points advantage over MT, and everybody else I think you get second place and a first round bye.
According to the rules the division winners don't necessarily get spots 1 through 3.
If you lose you need MT, Shack, and Angry Mob to all lose.

The toasted bread thing does make a difference. Subway used to have a great thing going with baking their own bread. I think they have given far too much autonomy to their franchise owners. There is no uniformity from Subway to Subway.
Here's a question. Why don't they move In n' Out Burgers east of California? That place would work wherever they put it.
They make there own ground beef fresh, that is never froze from one meat processing plant in Los Angeles. That's why there isn't any outside of there delivery range from that one processing plant, north CA, AR and NV are the limits. Read somewhere that opening a second plant wasn't cost effective, that's why they still haven't moved more easterly. Till they do watch out 'cause their damn tasty. not only was Boller not a standout QB, his only college production came under QB Mogul Jeff Tedford.
Beat me to the punch Jlet...good job though!
Let me add one little excerpt here, though:
During his 18-year coaching career at California, Oregon (1998-2001), Fresno State (1992-97) and the CFL's Calgary Stampeders (1989-91), Tedford devised record-setting offenses at every stop. Under his tutelage, such quarterbacks as Trent Dilfer, Akili Smith, Joey Harrington, David Carr, Kyle Boller and Aaron Rodgers blossomed into first-round NFL draft picks. His latest pupil was Rodgers, who ranked No. 8 nationally in passing efficiency in 2004, completing 66.1 percent of his passes for 2,566 yards and 24 touchdowns with only eight interceptions.
Can you say underwhelming?

Oh wait, sorry guys.
I forgot that bashing a quarterback is only acceptable when he has a 39-19 record for you as a starter.
Wow dude how had he played again? You are going to get down on him before he even plays? I would like to call you a jackass, but you are just an idiot. I think you were that guy in school that did something stupid just so someone would pay attention to you.
Guess what, everyone thought you were an idiot then too.

He had one great season, that's not being dominant. Especially when his competition was Chris Leak, DJ Shockley, JaMarcus Russel, Brodie Croyle, Blake Mitchell, Brandon Cox, Michael Spurlock, Andre Woodson, Rick Clausen, Robert Johnson, Erik Ainge, etc.
Leak was in a new system, Shockley and Russel are run first quarterbacks, Clausen and Ainge shared time, and the majority of the rest had capable runningbacks to hand the ball off to.
you IDIOT! russell a run first quarterback? are you entirely retarded? wtf? thats a joke? you do realize that russell is 6'6 250-260, right? he runs like, well, a guy who is 6'6 250+. he is a PASS FIRST QB, rating at the top of most passing categories.

The key to making a good sammich is the way you cut it. The thing I always liked about Subway was the way they cut their sammiches - they would cut a U out of the top of the bread, rather than cutting it in half. It made the sammich easier to eat, and kept everything together. Now most of them just cut it in half, because Subway corporate has slacked on enforcing their franchise standards.
I'm telling you - they're dead to me. I am a sandwich artist without a home. Everytime I see that fatass Jared on TV, it's like he is talking right to me - mocking me. "You used to love Subway! Now I am a metaphor of Subway being in the toilet. I win. You lose. I win. You lose."

Quiznoes is good with the toasty sandwiches. Jared will get his and it is all because the sandwich in the U shape helps you lose weight. And dont try to tell me to put the jelly on first then the PB. It doesnt work like that. It is called "Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich for a reason not vise versa. Apparentally, Panera had an agreement that the mall wouldn't let another sandwhich place set up shop in the mall, and so Panera was saying that burritos were sandwhiches. Crazy.

Ghetto mexican places are the best. You have to have at least 4 flies buzzing around in the hole in the wall to be authentic. If more or less, I walk out. I want my waitress/waiter to also be the fat owner. The cook should be a family memeber. If the kids are working the floor, I like to see the wife beater or white shirt with the chain hanging. If a Chad or a Kurt is working there, I am out. I want spanish coming from not only the back but the front. The topper is them selling garage sale crap at the front counter. Chipotles is a great fat person eatery. Those burritos are huge! BTW: We have Chick Fil a in SOCAL for the last few years.

Let me know how you spread that bumpy peanut butter on wonderbread. Too thin and weak to spread IMO. I tried but gave up. I just ended up putting the PB on celery. And dont try to tell me to put the jelly on first then the PB. It doesnt work like that. It is called "Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich for a reason not vise versa. You can add a sliced banana on a PB sandwich too if no jelly on it. You can do it with jelly but i wouldnt tell anyone about it.
Man, it's years of practice. It's all about the angle at which you spread. I never have a bread tear - never! And I won't ever use the creamy peanut butter. As for the jelly, I only use preserves - it has to have chunks of fruit in it, or I won't use it. And I put peanut butter on one piece of bread; jelly on the other. Then I put them together to make the sammich. Oh, and I cut it first, because the bite right in the middle with no crust is a little piece of heaven. By cutting the sammich in half, you get two of those bites.
You should go get yourself a loaf of Wonder and a jar of extra crunchy peanut butter, and then just practice. You'll get the hang of it eventually, and there'll be no looking back.

At Chipotle, I usually order a steak burrito with black beans, rice of course, with the mild sauce, a little bit of the hot sauce, cheese, sour cream and sometimes I add lettuce or gaucamole. Dont' usually get the guacamole since its like $1 for a scoop of it.
But man, sometimes it feels like I'm having an orgasm in my mouth when I have one of those burritos.
Hmm? Have you meet Blart here at the Mane or something? Let us not even go there. I am more worried about this than tortillas and PB which is no biggie.

You will teach me the way, no? I have four of these guys after me because I cant make a good PB&J sandwich. I stole Johnny's girlfriend and it is tough because he can afford the organic and preserves. I am from Encino and I even have to have my Mom and the beat up station wagon take me to the store to buy these inferior products. It is embarrasing. We are having a sandwich make off and I have 4 months to accomplish this feat. Johnny goes to culinary school with his buddies. I cant afford it and i dont have the time. Can you teach me o' master of the sandwich?

Ghetto mexican places are the best. You have to have at least 4 flies buzzing around in the hole in the wall to be authentic. If more or less, I walk out. I want my waitress/waiter to also be the fat owner. The cook should be a family memeber. If the kids are working the floor, I like to see the wife beater or white shirt with the chain hanging. If a Chad or a Kurt is working there, I am out. I want spanish coming from not only the back but the front.
Sounds like Taco Bell would be right up your alley John.

Big Deal. Tedy Bruschi not only could eat 100 PB & J sandwiches at 10, he requested this instead of breast milk when he was a toddler. He also ate the plastic wrapping around the bread.

One time, my nephew was working at Taco Bell. Some guy comes through the drive through in a big old truck, grabs my nephew's arm, drags him halfway through the window, and screams in his face, "Did you spit in my f-in' burrito, little man?"
They called the police, but they never apprehended the suspect. It made the little Jefferson County newspaper, though (I think it was the Sentinal - do they still have the Sentinal?).

Actually, I just buy what's on sale - usually the store brand. But your observation that some are "too sweet" intrigues me, Sodak. Expand on those observations for my consumer benefit please ...
I think it's because that's all my mother ever bought was chunky. If I wanted chunky, I'd eat a handful of peanuts. The chunky stuff is like peanut butter that they didn't finish, or someone was too lazy to make it creamy.
The sweet stuff is okay, but if you're putting jelly on it, then why bother with so much of the sugar? I'd just eat a donut instead.
But, I digress. I think this was about sandwiches?...

Senior year is the only great one in college? Check (Boller's was ten times what Cutler's was too)
Impresses scouts at the combine with peripheral feats that have nothing to do with on the field success? Check
Reached for on draft day based upon size and aforementioned combine antics? Check
I can't say that our good friend Kyle has set a good precedent for our little Gunslinger. In fact, the Boller connection is as close as Cutler will ever get to Elway, Kyle wears #7.
Cutler doesn't and nobody in this city ever will. Remember that when you guys all turn on him eventually.
