The Houston Chronicle reports that Texans backup quarterback Sage Rosenfels was IR'd today after breaking his thumb in yesterday's loss to the Jets.

Rosenfels was the holder on a 59-yard FG attempt to end the first half. When the Jets tried to return it, Rosenfels ran downfield and tripped up the ballcarrier, breaking his thumb.

To replace Rosenfels, the Texans have signed Bradlee Van Pelt, whose chief asset is that he and Gary Kubiak are familiar with each other and the Bronco-style offense.

Also, starting center Mike Flanagan went on IR with broken ribs suffered in the game. His backup, Drew Hodgdon will replace him. Flanagan becomes the third starting offensive lineman to be lost for the season after left tackle Charles Spencer broke his leg in Week Two and right tackle Zach Weigert tore his knee a couple of weeks ago. Ephraim Salaam and rookie Eric Winston are manning those positions.

Good for BVP. This will give him a head start on finding a camp for next year to attend. Of course if he doesn't stay in Houston he might be able to find a gig in Denver.

GOOO BVP!!

He is a competitor, but wont see any PT, unless Kubes wants to get creative with him.

Good for Bradlee.

Kubiak has done wonders to get Carr's career back on track. Maybe he can keep BVP in the game.

If I see a highlight of David Carr lining up at WR, I'm calling shenanigans.

Just sayin'.

And the bar tenders of Houston let out a great shout of joy, and praised his name. ;D

This should be humorous if he gets in a game.

The guys on the radio here today were talking about Plummer coming here, and they basically said, " Don't even joke about that!"

WAAAAAAY bigger news than the Van Pelt signing...Though it warms my heart to see Van Pelt in Houston.

Plummer will not unseat Carr.

They were also talking about the total lack of leadership and playmaking skills on Carr's part.

Wow, BVP is a joke at the QB possition. Glad the Texan's sighned him though and I hope he sticks with them, so he won't end up back here.
