Brady had been in the league for a year prior to taking over.
But about the article, this is the first quote I've seen about the change from a player that addressed the change without denying how implausible it was. Go Javon. I would be excited too.

The article said no rookie QB has ever won the SB. I thought Brady was a rookie when he won. But if he was second year than never mind.

No I think Brady was at least a second year man.
*** Edit ***
Brady was a rookie in 2000. They won their first in 2001, he was a 2nd year guy.

It was his second year, but remember...we are in the last third of the season now. Jay wasn't a 6th rounder drafted to be a backup.

Javon is a very smart man. I don't blame him for saying that. Here's a qb that will get him the ball and get him into the endzone. More TD celebrations. More ESPN highlights. More dancing for a 1st down. Javon is giddy with the potential Cutler brings.

So much for the players being angry about Jake being benched.

Unfortunately not everybody can be pleased ina situation like this. Not saying he should be taken out with the trash, but it's far more important to instill confidence and faith in the new guy as opposed to fighting a winless battle for the old. That's why I like the comment. His teammates need to make Jay feel like they want him in there.

You've got to be the ultimate Plummer homer to not even recognize this. It was pretty obvious the players on offense were disappointed, to put it mildly, by Jake's play. You could see it on the players and coaches face.

Yep the players are rioting.
The opologists are left to this?
I can turn the table just fine. If Jay struggles, they get to whine...if he does at least as good, they will again melt into the woodwork.
There is a big difference. Jake is an 11 year vet. Just equal production would be fine with most of us. Why? there is UPSIDE.

Javon wants 1st downs, TD's, big plays, ESPN highlights, best receiver in the game status. Plummer isn't giving him that. He obviously sees something in Cutler that Plummer couldn't give him. This isn't support and make Cutler feel comfy. This is Javon excited and give me the damn ball so I can make big plays every week for ESPN.

The " need " to do that? No. Its a team. They should step up no matter who is in there. You treat this situation just like you would if Jake had been hurt. You go out and play hard with whoever is taking the reigns. Thats why i dont buy into this whole " well, the players will be upset if Jake gets benched " arguement. Of course, saying the right things are important but they need to back it up and feel it also.

Walker envisions JC hitting him in stride with a 50 yarder on a fly pattern. I can't wait to see what this dude can do when we've got the means to get him the ball all over the field.

He's excited about the move? Guess he's not in the "Jake camp" at this point.

duh
any player would be a moron at this point to come out and say
man, our coach is stupid, we need to stick with Jake
you play the cards your dealt, he's smart enough to know that

So then all that talk about the players not believing in Griese was hogwash then?
I pretty much think Javon is saying:
Jake sucks donkey #^&#, Bring on the gunslinger!
"I don't care if I play like (expletive), I want to win," Plummer said after what should be his final start in a Denver uniform. "I don't care if I throw no completions, I want to win ballgames. That's all I care about."
That's Plummer for ya. He honestly thinks no matter how poor he plays, if the team wins, he's gonna be the starter. Says it all right there for me. Yank his butt and put in the Kid.

I know you're joking but I remember an interview he gave during training camp when asked about Brett's arm being too strong and he said he preferred a really strong throw because it gets their faster and gives him time to make a move and/or prepare for the hit. :)

I think you're off base there. I think it shows that Jake doesn't care about personal stats as long as his team gets the win. It's not him saying he believes he's the starter as long as there is a W, he just wants a win more than personal achievements. What he fails to realize, though, is that the two often go hand in hand. He just hasn't been able to effectively execute this offense. I agree it's time for the kid to go in.

Well I believe it. I'd also like to say that I really appreciate Walker for being so cool and putting on a good face despite Jake holding him back and despite the fact that he has a lot of incentives in his contract that he probably would never hit if Jake was still under center. Now Javon has a good shot of making the pro-bowl.

Regardless of what Jay does with him from here on out i think Javon should go anyway. He is the biggest reason why our offense has done anything at this point.

He'll at least be comeback player of the year. No one else comes close.

You're buying into this whole WR-prima-donna-thing way too much. I see nothing in your argument that suggests Javon gives a rat's ass about winning football games. There are plenty of guys in the league that accomplish those things, yet have never won anything and never will. I would hope he doesn't fall into that catagory.
I agree to a certain extent that Javon is probably licking his chops at the prospect of getting more touches and opportunities (who wouldn't be?). However, it would pain me deeply to have a reciever on my team that basically only cares about his stats, and very little about winning. I don't think that is the case with Javon, but if it were, you seem as though you'd be OK with it.
Javon's comments may not have had the primary goal of boosting Cutler's confidence, but it doesn't hurt to let your rookie QB know you're prepared to rally around him.

Agreed.
I didn't mean to imply the comments should come off in an artificial fashion, which I may have. I worded my original post poorly. I like the comments not simply for what they are but because of the genuine support they seem to be derived from coming from our star reciever. It's very promising. The professional aspect should kick in and everyone should go out an do their job, regardless. The thing is, with Cutler getting ready to see his first real NFL action, assuming the team is prepared to get behind him, now would be a good time to let him know. It certainly can't hurt.

The players screwed themselves by publicly supporting Plummer. If they would have shut the hell up, Shanny probably makes this switch a month ago. As far as the coach is concerned, players' comments should hold about as much weight as that of the fans.
