View Full Version : 7-4 and a good win. Not bad.

Not bad for...
-A team who really didn't play that well...left a seasons worth of points on the board and still found a way to win...
-A team who lost a HOF tackle and another offensive lineman who was supposed to have a line in shambles...
-A team who lost its starting long time QB and leader for most the season...
-A team who hasn't played an ounce of defense in past years but is now making things happen on that side of the ball...
-A team that started out 0-2...
-A team with no "legitimate #1" reciever...
-A team that had many key players hurt. Some acting as decoys even...
Who would have thought going into this season that the Broncos would only manage one touchdown in two whole games against the "swiss cheese" defense.
I don't know what is going to happen with this team. I don't know what is going to go on next week or the week after that. But I know this team has a very good offensive line that allows our running back and other weapons to make things happen.
This team also has a defense. They are not the '85 Bears but they make things happen. They fly to the ball and are very physical. They have an offense that puts them in a position to be sucessful.
Very excited to see how this season plays out...SD plays another one against Denver and one against us. Can we catch up? Who knows...
I would love to see 3 AFC West teams in the playoffs. Can it happen?

its amazing what a team can do when they have the 1a back in the league(LT 1 LJ 1a).
One thing ive noticed in watching KC is they are tackling much better than they did last year. It seems like they are playing so much harder this year. The d line whipped our o lines ass tonight like never before.
3 AFC west teams? i doubt it but itd be sick

They also blitzed a lot too to their credit. They were making sure that even if we pulled the bootleg Jake wasnt going to burn them with it.

Good win! You got your Super Bowl of the year accomplished. The Chiefs had this game on their minds for a long time. It was obvious from their effort four days earlier at Arrowhead vs. Oakland. In contrast, the Broncos played the most uninspired and half-assed game of the year.

On an equally upbeat note....
Herm Edwards was able not only to recognize which vehicle was his after the game, but he drove himself..... and was actually able to find his home without assistance, this week.

In my opinion, it wasn't so much tat KC woin teh game as that the Broncos did not play well at all. Without making it a whimpy excuse, or anything, but the Broncso are not at all the team they were in the begining of the year due to injuries and a few other factors. I do expect that the KC team will lose several more games this year, particularly when ththey go ont he road.

Honestly,
SD would KILL and I mean absolutely destroy either of these two teams right now.
Denver KILLED any type of momentum every single freakin time they had a chance. They also did their best Raiders impression with all those penalties that resulted in about 10 or 13 of the 19 KC points.
As for the chiefs, that was not a typical home game against Denver. Maybe it's Herm and the conservative run, run, pass that he is playing, but it just didn't look the same for the chiefs, at least since the end of the Marty/Gunther era. LJ is going to become Jamal Lewis II if they keep running him this much.
Just because the atmosphere at KC was good, does not mean either of these teams played well. They will both get smoked in the playoffs if they continue this (that is if both or whoever makes it)
I saw two positives from this game:
1) Plummer is done. You might as well go down with your future in Cutler or exit early in the playoffs with your future getting experience rather than go with someone who isn't here next year and no one trusts anymore.
2)As bad as Denver was, they had a chance to steal the game last night. Although that might be more to do with Herm being conservative.
either way, we might look back at this game and see it as a good loss because it finally forced Shanahan to make the switch at QB.
good win for KC, but they will not go anywhere if Herm doesn't allow at least a little more creativity on offense. LJ is a beast, but any RB will be stopped if you are that conservative with your playcalling.

KC's biggest weapon in the air was injured and his use was limited...one of our best offensive lineman was hobbled as was our best linebacker...
The Chiefs didn't even play all that well...the amount of points this team left on the board was insane...
You kids were a fluke fumble away from a sweep.
The Broncos didn't play well at all because the Chiefs didn't let them.

We stopped you the entire game. This whole season you have only managed to score one TD on us and that was a blessing from the zebras who called that illegal contact on Walls. If it werent for that you would have only managed a FG all game. Even if you retort with the penalties that allowed the Chiefs to score a TD, still would have won 12-10.
You really want to talk about injuries? This is Trent Green's 2nd game back, Wesley, Derrick Johnson, TonyG, and Waters probably all shouldn't have played in this game due to injuries but they managed their pain because of the game's hype. You can play hurt sometimes if the adrenaline (sp?) is up, but they were definately not 100%. Thankfully now we have 10 days rest before the next game so players can get 100%.

You forgot the most important thing; that your days of seeing Plummer are over. There's no doubt this offense stinks...even less doubt that you caught lightning in a bottle last night with the funk they're in right now.
Enjoy it while you can...you better hope it's a playoff run THIS YEAR...because the Shanahan offense will be making a comeback under Jay in the future. If the best you could do was split with a team that started Jake Plummer at QB with the kind of schitzophrenic (even for hiim) year he's having you should have serious doubts about your ability to beat San Diego, Indy, Cincy or New England in the playoffs.

Pinning your entire team's hopes on a guy that has never taken a snap in a real NFL game? Is that desperation I smell?
Also, I am sorry we lost to your team in your house 9-6 in overtime starting backup QB who hadn't started an NFL game in half a decade. If it makes you feel any better, we would have beat you in Invesco as well if LJ wouldn't have fumbled near the goal line.

There is no desperation. Jake Plummer was pretty solid last year up until the AFC championship game. This year he blows...simple as that.
You can talk about the head to head matchups all you want. This is the difference between chiefs fans and Broncos fans. We know we have been terrible for a few games now. I don't believe that. I think its fun to say that the Chiefs fans think they will win a Superbowl now but it isn't what is really going on. Confident about their team? No doubt.
I can accept this team isn't perfect. The Chiefs have a lot of things they need to do better. I believe this time off will do wonders for us health wise.
What I am taking exception too is the idea it seems some are putting forth that the Chiefs laid it all out there and played the game of their lives to beat a Broncos team that played one of the worst games of the season.
The total tonage of points the Chiefs left on the board could stop a team of oxen in their tracks.
I think the Chiefs can play better ball than they did last night...I think the Broncos can play better ball. The Chiefs stopped the Broncos from doing the things they like to do...they were more physical and controlled the line of scrimmage.
The line between winning and losing in the NFL is miniscule...Chiefs just got it done.
