I didn't realize how many people were getting screwed over by the NFL. Yahoo had and article about this also:

Apparently, the NFL wants their channel on basic cable, but is asking a huge price for it so the cable operators feel it has to go on the premium packages for them to make their money back. But I see Comcast has a carrieage agreement, and has it on their premium digital package, so I don't know what to believe.

NFL Sues Comcast Over Carriage of League's Football Channel

By Christopher Stern
Nov. 15 (Bloomberg) -- The National Football League is suing Comcast Corp. to stop the largest U.S. cable company from removing the NFL channel from a popular programming package.
The lawsuit, filed in New York's Supreme Court, is under seal, which means the proceedings, including documents filed in the case, aren't open to the public. The parties agreed to the gag order, citing the confidential nature of their contract.
The suit is part of a feud between the NFL Network and cable providers including Comcast and Time Warner over carriage of the NFL network. The NFL filed the lawsuit after Comcast notified the league that the channel would be moved from its digital package which serves 12 million homes to the less widely distributed sports programming tier.
``Comcast believes it has the right to carry the NFL Network on a sports tier and will vigorously defend its position,'' said David L. Cohen, executive vice president.

I hate seeing the NFL throw around their weight just to make more money. All the cable companies are trying to do is leave the decision to the consumer whether they wanna pay or not, they need to do that more often with channels targeting select groups.
