Just wondering how some of you will react and what type of feeling you will have the rest of the day once this is announced.

To me seriously, in a way, will be a life changing event, even more important that who will be the next president, atleast in my own little world.

I will be happy as hell and extremely excited in anticipation to watch him play.

I mean come on a true #1 Pick at QB starting for us!

I never expected Shanahan to ever come up with a gem like this.

I will feel as though this season is probably a wash, as if it isn't already. However, I will be thrilled and yet scared to death. Hell, I may even be erect.

It will be, "Now let's see if all the shouting was worth it." I will be pleased
if he does good, but I won't be too shocked if he also stinks up the place.
I think there are more problems on this team besides the QB, despite
the winning record. Such as no pass rush, no punt return, poor punting,
poor return coverage, inability to settle upon a starting running back,
poor pass protection, inability for recievers to get open.
A new QB isn't going to solve any of this, and lack of experience may
magnify these problems.

I will rub myself so hard a Genie will pop out!

I will be granted 3 wishes

1st wish:
Broncos win every SB from now until end of time

2nd wish:
Become rich

3rd wish:
Have scandalous affair with Ségolène Royal, pictures of me with her in speedo & topless bikini in south of France splashed acrossed Magazines from France to Tibet, to USA. I love Ségolène...

So you see Mike, it is very important to me that Cutler start soon!

Interesting idea for a thread...

As opposed to it as I have been, I will be excited. Nervous as well though.

I am actually trying to get Tix to the Seattle game in anticipation that I can be there to see it live.

Man this guy better be good. For someone who hasn't done jack inthis league, we sure are making him out to be a hero!

Sad because our hopes will officially have been dashed for this year.

Excited to see if he is as good as everyone here thinks.

Worried that he is going to suck.

Nervous that our future rests with him.

Just one more thing that I was right about....I said after the draft last year that he would be starting by the second half of this season while nearly everyone told me there was no way and I didn't know what I was talking about. Me being right around he is a fairly common theme however.

I will prolly purchase my SB tickets ;)

As far as the season goes IMO its already screwed up. I hope Im wrong but I just dont see us making it to the big dance now that we will be on the road in the playoffs. Some are happy to just make the playoffs but in my world the only goal each and every year is the SB. That being the case the best thing to do is stop wasting time with Jake.

I imagine Jay will have all kinds of trouble this season and make a lot of rookie mistakes but it will just put us back in line for a SB run next year.

Of course the Jay is a bust threads will be thick at times but thats life on the Mane ;D

Excited that we will get to see some real Broncos football.

Happy that the season isn't a wash.

Nervous as hell.

Giddy as a school girl.

Hopeful about the playoffs and the opportunity to see NFL history in the making (though not overly hopeful, as we're starting him too late to expect him to make a serious dent in the post season) .

If we lose Thursday, our chances to defend our AFC West Championship will be severely diminished. Therefore, Cutler might as well get some game reps. How will I feel? I'll be nervous because I ALWAYS hate a Broncos loss. However, I know he is the future and will reluctantly look to next year.

about like I do for any other game .......

Exactly.

I'll be rooting my ass off for him.

History tells us that chances with a rookie are not good, but I think he's a talented kid and maybe just the kind of kids that can buck those odds.

Of course, I'd still rather see Plummer pull out of his funk so Jay could take over when Shanahan feels he's ready, but we have to do what we have to do.

He's a wildly talented kid, and no matter where you stand on WHEN he should play, if you're a Broncos fan... the kid has to have you excited.

Yeah, because this team is such a contender now with #16 under center

You make it sound like we are 3-7 lol...

honestly I will feel prolly about the same as I always do, with the realization that our season is pretty much over, we wont win a sb wit a rookie, but I think he will perform better than jake has if he starts.

I for one thing its ignorant how all these posters here an on the broncomania site are sayin he throws this better or is smarter an this.

did you really see him practice recently? or are you jus able to foresee his future without any real clue..

Its fun to read them an laugh at how stupid ppl sound talkin about something they really dont know anythin about and goin pretty much just on preseason.

do I think Jay will be good? Heck ya I am optimistic.

Do I think he will be the savior of our season?
No... he is a rookie and will play like one.

Yeah Herc, at 7-3 this team is right in the thick of things DESPITE Plummer's poor play.

If Cutler comes in, it means the season is over and we have nothing left to play for.

Officially dashed.

Not really the purpose of the thread... but since you guys started it.

I think that this team is a playoff contender -- not a Super Bowl contender -- with Jake. With Cutler, who knows? The guy is talented, but the odds are long against him. It's pure speculation to say you know either way. With Jake we can see the results. He's not good, but the team is winning.

You're right, they're 7-3 despite having a QB who has thrown for 178 ypg and 10-11 TD-Int ratio. There's no way anyone can expect Cutler to put up such lofty numbers.

Bull****. It means we have a fighting chance. Nobody can be worse than Jake Plummer. What a waste of a great time.

I think it will lessen my expectations for the season, which mill probably reduce my stress level for any given game. I will be excited to watch the kid play, but a little sad that Plummer couldn't fend him off and have a great season.

I will be happy. Won't have to take xanax just to watch a Bronco game...j/k, but seriously seeing Jay and hopefully Sheffler ( eventually) on the field together w/ Walker , Rod, Marshall and a stellar DLineman we pick up next year, w/ a go to running back ( please) brings tears to my eyes. For right now just having #6 out there gives me more hope than #16. No disrespect to Jake, he just couldnt get it done for us.

Probably somewhere between the feeling of ecstatic relief I had when R66v6s was finally history and the surreal euphoria I felt when Bret Favre's last gasp pass fell short in the first SB victory.

In fact, I'm going to go ahead and call it. I'll change at least one poopy diaper the day Shanahan announces Cutler's first start.

I like Plummer, but when Shanahan makes the call, I'll be 100% behind Cutler. I'm not calling for Jay, but when the switch is made, he's the Broncos QB and I'll back him.

i'll be happy to see the kid play and get him reps. i think he is going to be very good and probably the key to getting denver over the hump.

sad that plummer just didn't have it. i genuinely liked plummer and hoped he could have continued to play at a pro-bowl level. it's pretty obvious he's just not having fun --sad that he must go out this way...i was hoping for better.

Everybody said that a 6th seed could never win the Super Bowl, and then came last year when Pitt did it. Everybody says that a rookie QB can't win the Super Bowl, This will be the year that a rookie QB takes his team and wins the Super Bowl, you heard it here first. Save this post for sometime in Feb.

Brady was in his second year.

When Cutler starts, for better or worse, the Broncos will at least be interesting to watch again.

How would I feel? I'm pretty sure my emotions would be on par with Mike Shanahan's and that of the ancient mariner cutting loose the damn albatross around his neck:

Relieved is the word. I've hated the distraction that Good Jake vs. Bad Jake has brought to this team this year. With Jake at the helm we were a playoff bound team at best. With Jay at the helm we may not even make the playoffs(although I definitly think theres won't be a dropoff in QB play).
With a rookie comes mistakes and it just depends on when and where they happen. With Jake we know mistakes are coming and they ususally happen at the worst times w/ no chance of recovery.

With that being said, at this point I really don't care if we don't make the playoffs by starting Jay. He will gain valuable experience be playing this year and the benefits will pay off next year. If we make the playoffs that is just icing on the cake.
After seeing how our defense has folded against playoff caliber teams, I'm not sure we would do well if we made the playoffs. We have too many other problems on this team w/ the QB being number 1. We still need a stud DE, our special teams suck, and I'm not sure Larry Coyer is up to the job.

It may seem like I'm setting the bar low but I just don't want to be quilty of setting Jay up to fail. He has the talent and that's what makes me think we won't do any worse than Jake by putting him in.
