Ok it seems most everyone is aching for a QB change, and it seems many want him after Thursday.
But why wait? Plummer usually plays well after a poor performance. So if he plays well Thursday - which i think he will, then we will have to wait even LONGER for Jay to start if thats the plan anyway.
I agree that our best chance to win in the playoffs is with Jay, so might as well get him ready now, not wait a week, or even 3 weeks later cause by then it could be too late.
Another Jake thread!! WOOHOO!!!
I believe Jay should play before the end of the season, not wait until next year. Fans would tolerate Jay making the same mistakes that Jake has been making but, really, could Jay be THAT much worse than Jake has been at this point? Not only is Jake making mistakes, the offense's production has been pathetic as well.
Anyone think that Shanahan's delay in pulling the trigger has anything to do with his premature anointing of Griese as a starter?

I want Super Man to fly at super speed around the Earth, until time goes backwards, and then I want Cutler to start against St Louis.

I'm finally in the Start Jay wagon. I think this team is too flawed to make a huge splash this season, so I want Jay to be prepared as possible next season, and I think that means getting meaningful snaps this year. Why wait?

TONIGHT!!!
I can't wait that Long!!!! ;D
Players like John Lynch, Tom Nalen, and Rod Smith shouldn't have to wait either. They are in the twilight of their careers. Shanahan's steadfast loyalty to Jake Plummer may end up costing the Broncos another shot at going deep in the playoffs. We know what we get with Jake and aren't really all that sure about Jay, but it can't be much worse than what we've gotten from Jake this year.

I am still a big Jake Plummer fan. I think he has been a terrific quarterback for us the last 3 years. Every year we have had 10+ wins, we even nearly went all the way last year. I will wish him well next year in Washington or Houston wherever he goes.
As I watched last nights game I saw Javon reach behind not only him but a defender to pull in a ball, I saw nobodies carrying the rock and running as if their lives depended on it, and I saw a new offensive line bully the chargers around. I saw nothing from Jake.
This is not a super bowl team, our defense is suspect, we have a questionable running game and a pathetic special teams unit.
That said we are a lock for the playoffs. Do we dare make a switch? I am ready to say yes.
Let Jake start Thursday, the lack of practice time for Cutler and the short week heading into a hostile enviornment is not exactly an ideal situation for a rookie. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see Jay finish the game, regardless of the outcome.
Then he gets a week and a half of preparation for a weak Seattle team, a tough go in SD and then three gimmee's to finish the regular season. Then we head into the playoffs with Jay having some gametime experiance.
It's time to get the 6 gun blazing.

Bingo. Shanahan apparently thinks that no one can pick up his offense (as a a QB) and learn it in under 3 years. Well, Jake is on his 4th year and going downhill fast. He absolutely looks clueless out there, and the playbook is only half a page long right now. (run off tackle for about 3 yards, screen to slow down the pass rush, bootleg for an interception.....wii!)

I want Cutler have wanted him from pretty much around game 3. That being said I think Shanny should do one thing. Take Jake into his office Tuesday evening and have a man to man chat. Discuss what they have seen on video talk about what is causing this slip. Then Shanny should look Jake straight in the eye and say the leash is off I am making Cutler inactive this week and Parsons is the back up. The play book is open my man. We are going wide open all game. You play like you once did you keep the job the rest of the year. Cutler stays inactive and Parsons is the back up. You make one bad decision or fumble one important snap your ass is done. Now go out there and get this done.
We will see Cutler against Seattle if that is the case.

Shanny can talk until he is blue in the face. Plummer will still have a weak, inaccurate arm. Why not put in a guy that can stretch the defense and has shown one of the livest arms, with one of the quickest releases around?
I think putting in Cutler will immediately stretch the defense, opening up both the run and the short passing game. Because it seems like he can get the ball deep real quick.
