View Full Version : I'm tired...
What a disappointing game. I think we will all agree with that.
-I'm tired of our crappy field positions. Haven't we figured out how to get better on special teams yet? I said this was going to kill us and eventually it has. You allow teams like the Colts and Chargers to start at the 45 yd line repeatedly, you are giving your defense a small margin of error. It sucks, I don't understand why we can improve upon this.
-Defensive Line played very bad this game. Very bad.
-The safeties played terribly as well. They look very slow out there against a fast back like LT. I know he is great but man they whiffed a bunch.
-Rod is finally starting to show his age. I still think he can stretch his career and become a very successful 3rd WR but I think his days of 1000yd seasons are done.
-Shanahan, I am your biggest fan. But the two drives in the middle of the third quarter sporting a 17 pt lead just sucked. We had been running effectively all game and with that lead and their lack of ability to stop us, we were playing against the clock. We blew it by passing it over and over and allowing LT to climb back in the game and save the day. 1 score would have put them in all passing situations. Coaching staff blew it.
-Plummer... go away. Fumble a SHOTGUN snap on 3rd and 3 when we needed a TD? FUMBLE A BALL with NO TO's left on the SD 35 driving in for a score? STUPID! I cannot believe, he felt the pressure, rolled away, and didn't throw the ball out of bounds! Exasperating. I won't even talk about the INT. Normal Jake on that play.
-Lack of a TE is killing us. Listen, defenses don't need to worry about defending the center of the field because we have never even tried to throw it there to our TE.
On the bright side it was nice to see Nash and Mike Bell getting the running game going. The offensive line looked great as well. I thought Nalen had a strong game on Williams and Meadows really looked good out there. He just has a tenacity about him that i've never seen from Foster... ever.
Walker had one on one coverage again and Jake couldn't get him the ball. Go figure.
I agree with the sentiment that if we don't win this next game... Jay has to come in. There is no reason not to play him. We probably just cost ourselves the AFC West. Yes, I understand that we still have one more game in SD however probability says that if we couldn't stop the chargers with their depleted defense, probably won't with a healthy defense either.
The coaches had one of their worst called games I can remember in a while. Just handed SD the ball back time after time with our passing game in full affect in the third quarter.
WE HAVE to win in KC now.

24-7 in the 2nd half and we blew it... without any turnovers until the 4th down fiasco.
No lead is safe. Cutler had better be able to score on every single possession.

I thought shanny called it good except for the drive right after Darrent int TD put Den up 17, sd scored and 3 passes like you said. Not only couldn't stop run they were soooo banged up Marty said he was looking for just bodies to throw in there. Coyer is a terrible blitz caller, the LT seam pass was set up like the Original LT was for cocaine.

If he can get 1 first down per series it will be an improvement. I dream of the days when we would answer a drive with a drive. Now I just pray for no 3 and out.

Popps seems calm but he's inwardly furious. His Jake Plummer arguments have gone to hell and now out of revenge he is just going to spend the rest of the season talking our defense down like it's worthless.

That's some seriously amusing stuff. You guys are just giddy, huh?
That's cool. We all derive pleasure in different ways.
As for our defense, it WAS worthless tonight. Just like in every other test-game we've had against any kind of remotely productive offense. We needed our defense to protect 31 and 27 points in our two biggest games, and they couldn't do it. Worthless, indeed.
Hey, Plummer is the devil. He eats babies, causes cancer. I'm on board with your cult. Sit him. Seriously. It's cool with me.
That still won't solve our obvious defensive woes, which has been my main point of contention long before Plummer got here and will likely be after Cutler gets the nod.

Bull****, dude. We haven't even seen Cutler play yet. You've got no basis to assume he can't win.
I expect big things from the kid. I just hope we get him a real defense at some point.

I rest my case.

I am just guessing here, but Popps, you have never played any type of organized tackle football in your life have you..... I didnt think so.
It sounds crazy but i'm not as angry with the defense. YES, disappointed but LT and other players like Manning are once in a lifetime type of guys. They are the players that you dream about your franchise getting. LT is TD'esqe, probably better because of his ability to catch the football. Manning is a robot that knows every position on the field and will exploit any weaknesses.
In that situation under that premise, I don't blame the loss on the defense. You know against a high powered offense that you NEED to keep scoring you have to keep them at bay by playing great offense and getting touchdowns.
The same thing has killed us against SD and Indy. We held leads, our offense couldn't keep pace with their offense and we lost. Yes, this sounds funny because the defense is ultimately at blame for not stopping them but they defense is setup to lose in this game. Rules by the NFL have dictated that.
We are also lacking impact players on the defensive line. And until we can land those players, we won't be able to stop a Peyton Manning or now a Philip Rivers with LT sitting back behind him.
I'm tired of our team carrying a knife to a gun fight. The biggest blowjob in the world came from Jake on that 3rd and 3... how do you drop that? After all the games, wins, and situations you've been in, to just drop the ball like some snot nosed pop warner QB... it makes me want to puke. HIs unclutch play at the end of the game where he rolled away from the pressure, got caught and fumbled... all he had to do was throw it away, and we live to play maybe another two downs.
Plummer's time has passed. We cannot wait any longer. Cutler has to be the guy. We have to do it soon.

We should flat-out CUT jake today. If, in business, someone blows one of the company's bigest contracts with one of their biggest clients, they get FIRED. Jake, You're FIRED!!
FIRE JAKE!!!

What are you talking about? Our defense had them at the 1 and they still marched down the field. Doesn't matter if they start at the 45 or the 1, these teams used our defense like a Slip n' Slide to their own goal line.

awesome thread.
Unfortunately, the hoopleheads will be bringing this up for the next decade.
