View Full Version : A few reasons I am happy after this game....

Obviously this game wasn't anything to be proud of, but it was a win nonetheless so I am happy. Taking a look at a few stats makes me even more pleased....
1. Winning back-to-back road games in the NFL is very hard. Especially when they are on opposite ends of the country. I don't have the stats in front of me, but they are astounding numbers that show how hard it is to win back-to-back'ers in the NFL.
2. Speaking of road games, we are currently 4-1 on the road. That is outstanding.
3. Since we're coming down the home stretch, it's time to start thinking playoff positioning and tie-breakers. We are currently 3-0 in the division and 7-1 in the conference. The #2 seed is ours to lose.

Yeah I agree there are positives but the next two weeks loom huge for Denver. Win them both and they are in good control of the AFC West. Lose both and trouble is ahead. Split and they have to win in SD. Lets hope Denver wins the next 2!

Sweeping the rai_ers is always a treat. A blowout would have been nicer, but I'll take it.
It was an ugly win, but still a win.
In a way, this might serve us better heading into SD than a blowout, anyway.
Shanahan will be kicking their asses all week, and you know guys are going to want to come out and atone for sub-par performances.

Sometimes I wonder how much Shanny holds back in his play book for bigger games. I doubt he does, but it's still interesting to consider.

The only holding back Shanny does is b/c of his QB play. Plummer and Griese have forced him to go conservative. I shudder to think what would have happened with Bubby Brister as a starter.

1. We swept the Raiders.
2. Foster was finally replaced.
3. We made sacks with just our front four (though DJ Williams had some nice hits on blitzes).
4. We only gave up one touchdown.
5. Despite our major injuries on defense, the whole squad played well.
6. Javon looks to be good for at least one TD a game regardless of coverage.
7. Protection was generally pretty good.
8. Jason Elam is having a great season
9. We came closer to seeing Cutler.

It's going to be priceless if we see Foster back in the starting line-up next week and find out that this wasn't a permanent change. . .

Only problem was that the coaches pulled him from this game. He didn't get hurt or anything. Plus things did open up after that change so I think Meadows gets the next start and they see what happens.

9. We came closer to seeing Cutler.
Yep, only what? 42 weeks away til he takes his first NFL snap!!!
1. Champ again recovered from a stop and go, batted the ball away.
2. Randy Moss had 1 grab for 8 yards.
3. The Raiders blew the game again, the fumbled punt by Kircus could have cost us the game if not for the penalty, actually, that was a bad thing really, but at least it went our way.
4. We saw Nash, and he reminded me of Marcus, terrible. Experiment ended hopefully.
5. The bootlegs were out of control today, we ran them like 7 times in the 2nd half, 3 plays in a row. Hilarious!

WHAT? You're writing him off after 4 carries? On 3 of those he looked pretty good...that fumble was fluky as hell!
We better hope someone steps up, because an injured Tatum ain't doing jack **** and won't do jack **** against SD next week.

Nash looked somewhat promising in the pre season, but I wasn't too crazy about him blaming Plummer for a perfectly good handoff on his fumble.

4 carries!!!!!!!!! What is with you guys tonight?
He made a pretty solid cutback for 7 yards, and looked pretty damn strong on two other carries.
Jake Plummer had more carries!

That is like saying Cobbs deserved to be the number one back after his stellar 5 yard gain last week and what he had 9 yards on 3 carries. Tatum had some big runs late in the game today and he is hurt. Nash just looked blah to me and that fumble and then blaming it on the QB that is just wrong.

Who's saying he deserves to be the no. 1 back?

...Tatum's long on the day was 9 yards (two runs of 9), and one came on a stretch to the right where he wasn't touched until about 7 yards downfield. He had two other runs of 4 and that was it...
He looks like garbage.

threads before the game had people saying that Cobb was the second coming and that Cobbs should have had more carries than MBell last week. My point was that Nash played one game had 3 carries and broke one for 7 yards. That hardly makes him worthy.

I hope Nash gets another chance. Dude really screwed himself.
Was he complaining about where the ball was handed off after the fumble, or was he pointing to himself?
I hope I interpreted that wrong, because it sure looked like he was bitching about the handoff. Horrible behavior, not to mention the handoff was right in his freaking bread basket. But, maybe I mis-read his gesture.
Even on his few runs, he showed that ability to get something out of nothing. We could really use some of that, with M.A. being gone.

Considering Shanahan said that he just wanted to see what Adam could do and create competition, I'm really not buying the whole "Foster" blows **** yet. If Foster doesn't start again, maybe.
Then again, Mike Bell's the best back on the team right. . . I mean, according to you.
He was inactive.
Or, are you still in denial about that?

Shanny also said Foster has done enough wrong to put Adam in. You stated that in the other thread so might as well state that here too. Plus MBell is still better than Nash maybe not Cobbs but Nash looked pathetic.

As "fluky" as that fumble might have been, it was his fault he lost the handle on it. I think it was a horrible decision to inactivate Mike Bell and put in a scrub from the Titans' practice squad who has shown us NOTHING in an actual game.
Nash almost lost us the f'ing game. I don't want to see him until next August.
Shanahan needs to stop experimenting with personnel on offense, especially after getting on a 2-game hot streak (31 ppg).
