Broncos | A. Hall signed to practice squad
Fri, 10 Nov 2006 18:55:58 -0800

Brett McMurphy, of the Tampa Tribune, reports the Denver Broncos have signed free agent RB Andre Hall (Bears) to their practice squad.

I am a tad excited by this signing. He's a smaller back (5-8), and he's more of a quick runner than a fast runner. But, he does have solid agility and he's got solid vision.

Could easily be a solid no. 2/3 back in the future.

It took tryouts with seven NFL teams, but former University of South Florida RB Andre Hall finally landed with an NFL team. Hall agreed to a deal today to be on the Denver Broncos’ practice squad. Hall leaves Sunday, his agent Jonathan Kline said.
“I think Andre did a back flip when I told him,” Kline said. “He’s very happy. This is the first step in the process. I’m so happy, you don’t even know.”
Kline said the Broncos were impressed with Hall’s running ability.
“They love his style and running,” Kline said. “They were really impressed.”
On Monday, Hall had worked out with the Miami Dolphins. Hall had worked out with Denver on Oct. 16. He also had try outs with Tampa Bay, Houston, Chicago, Buffalo and Seattle. Hall was the Bulls’ all-time leading rusher and an All-Big East selection last year as a senior.

Q v.2

Hall can actually run through some tackles.

If TATER was breaking a few long ones like last year and healthy we wouldn't have even looked at this guy.

I think Hall is somewhat heavier and able to take on tacklers more than Griffin. The Broncos were said to be interested in Ryan Moats from Philly and I think Hall is pretty similar to Moats.

Ask Elvis Dumervil and the 2005 Louisville Cardinals about Hall.

???

What does that have to do with a practice squad signing?

Anyways, I wonder who gets called up to the active roster. I'm thinking our PS was full before we signed Hall...

My bet is Nash comes up.

Why is this necessary when we have future hall of famer Cedric Cobbs on the roster? :ouwknow: :mullet1:

Hall takes his place as future HOF'er...DUH.

Just figured out though...Signing Brian Clark to the active roster opened up a spot on our PS. Solid filler.

Nope, Doug Nienhuis was signed in Clark's place after Lepsis went out.

He has the size to play OLB.

Bronco_Beerslug

Same size as Q but a tad slower. So why did we sign him?

Why is it on this board, EVERY signing is HUGE?

Not too long ago, Devoe was supposed to be the second coming according to the people on this board. Now this guy? If this were training camp, he'd quite possibly be camp fodder.

To me, this is a puzzling signing.

Couldn't we use some help on the DL and some depth at LB with both Gold and Chuckie out?

We allready have Cobbs and What's his name in the stall idling and barely use Cecil. Stupid Move. If he was Dave Megget he wouldn't be floating around auditioning like an girl that eventually goes into porn.

My question is - can the guy catch the ball? The only back I've seen catching the ball and getting any gains worth mentioning the last few years is Kyle Johnson.

First of all...kiss my ass.

Secondly, this guy profiled as a solid zone-blocking prospect in this draft and was thought of as a good mid-round value. He fits this scheme as a runner, he's a legit receiver out of the backfield, and he offers some upside as a kick returner. He could easily be our 3rd down back in the near future. The fact is he costs nothing, fills an empty PS spot, and he's a low-risk high-reward addition.

He can be dumped if something better comes along. No big deal.

I'm sure he will be a bulldozer on the PS...that isn't where the team is thin.

Hellllooooo, guys do some research. Andre Hall is the first man to beat Chuck Norris in a stare down. Anyone who is capable of that is HOF material. Plus I hear he can play both ways as RB and DE!

My pre-draft rookie report from http://footballguys.com

13. Andre Hall - South Florida Bulls - 5’9” 200 lbs.

Season Rush Yds TDs Rec Yds TDs
2005 270 1374 13 26 321 2
2004 210 1357 11 18 149 1
2003 (Garden City CC) 258 1488 8 8 49 1
2002 (Georgia Mil. Col.) 219 1604 19 - - -

Positives

Andre Hall is a compact and powerful runner with a low center of gravity. He has a quick initial burst and has shown good vision on cutback runs. He has good lateral quickness and can pick the right hole and get to it before the defense closes it. He is a patient runner, and allows his blocks to set up fully before him. He knows how to set up defenders well in the 2nd level and this ability makes him very dangerous on a screen pass. He runs with a good pad level and is not frequently tackled on the initial hit. He is a determined runner with decent leg drive for a smaller back. He has natural hands and catches the ball consistently with his arms extended.

Negatives

His ability as a route runner is limited and thus he is only used on screens and flares. He is fast but doesn't seem to have that 2nd gear necessary for him to run away from DB’s. He is a liability in pass protection and can be overpowered by defensive linemen. He gives good effort when trying to move the pile, but due to size limitations he will never be mistaken for a pile pusher.

Numbers Game

3 - He played at 3 different colleges, yet adjusted and produced at every one.

NFL Comparison

Derrick Blaylock

Summary

Andre isn't a big RB, but he can gain a lot of yardage in a hurry. One can’t deny his productivity at the collegiate level. And even though he doesn't have long speed, he can bang out 30 yard runs consistently. He virtually has no injury history, only missing 1 ½ games in high school! That is incredibly durable for a back with less than ideal size. He is a very determined player and could provide good value for a team on the 2nd day of the draft.
