Looking over the results there is a definite trend here... A LOT of moderate Republicans have been replaced by moderate Democrats.
The neocons, on the other hand, largely came out of this unscathed in the south. That's not good...
If the Republicans regain control of congress (likely with a wave of moderate Republicans), those new representatives will all be junior to their neocon party mates. In the house seniority means a great deal when it comes to committee assignments.
In other words, a Republican victory in the next few election cycles means that neocons will wield tremendous power in congress.

In that we disagree, all of them can't be bad. Just can't. However, the "party" leadership, on either side, can limit a good person's influence. Now that is bad, and is quite possible..dman

If I were to look into my crystal ball, I would say that Bush will try to ignore this congress. He will veto every bill they send him. Bush is a my-way-or-the-highway kind of guy. He will not change his stripes. Also, he has really effed things up. In Iraq especially. But he is too stubborn to change. He won't fire anybody around him. He won't listen to anybody outside of his little cabal of worshippers. The Bush cabal will pull a circle the wagons and put lookouts on the watchtowers kind of response. He will become isolated and nasty.
All of his malfeasance will come bubbling out over the next two years. Not to mention, we will now have REAL investigations into 911, how we got into Iraq, Rumsfeld's mismanagement, Abramoff and Delay's wheeling and dealing, Cheney's energy shenanigans, Halliburton's profiteering in Iraq, etc. By the time all the corruption comes oozing out of this neocon regime, they won't be able to get elected dog catcher anywhere in the country, and the ones who manage to stay in office will be running from Bush and the neocon cabal like cats on fire.

The elections deepened the divide between the South and North. Republicans are going to be chastised during the next two years between committee hearings and investigations. Pelosi just called for Rumsfeld to go now.

If the democrats decide being partisan is more important that anything else, they will ocne again get on the bad side of this country. One can assume there were many usual republican voters who voted democrat this time. I doubt they'll do it and look the other way. Those people will be watching to see if the people they elected are really for change or if it's politics as usual.
In that we disagree, all of them can't be bad.

That's what I pointed out. Both parties have gotten more conservative. That is good for the Dems and not good for the Republicans because conservative Democrats have moved into their turf.
I guess your senario could happen but I think Bush is really going to be anzious to get something done with this congress to enhance his legacy. I look for an immigration bill and a minimum wage bill to be passed and progress will be made in getting out of Iraq. If those things happen then these Dems will get re-elected in 2008.

Um watson, bad side as is in the '94 elections. I stated those voters that switched sides for this election would be looking closely at what those they voted for do. So what you're yapping about, I don't know nor seems to have anything to do with my statement.

"What we've got here is failure to communicate.
Some men you just can't reach...
So, you get what we had here last week,
which is the way he wants it!
Well, he gets it!
N' I don't like it any more than you men." *
Look at your young men fighting
Look at your women crying
Look at your young men dying
The way they've always done before
Look at the hate we're breeding
Look at the fear we're feeding
Look at the lives we're leading
The way we've always done before
My hands are tied
The billions shift from side to side
And the wars go on with brainwashed pride
For the love of God and our human rights
And all these things are swept aside
By bloody hands time can't deny
And are washed away by your genocide
And history hides the lies of our civil wars
D'you wear a black armband
When they shot the man
Who said "Peace could last forever"
And in my first memories
They shot Kennedy
I went numb when I learned to see
So I never fell for Vietnam
We got the wall of D.C. to remind us all
That you can't trust freedom
When it's not in your hands
When everybody's fightin'
For their promised land
And
I don't need your civil war
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor
Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain't that fresh
I don't need your civil war
Look at the shoes your filling
Look at the blood we're spilling
Look at the world we're killing
The way we've always done before
Look in the doubt we've wallowed
Look at the leaders we've followed
Look at the lies we've swallowed
And I don't want to hear no more
My hands are tied
For all I've seen has changed my mind
But still the wars go on as the years go by
With no love of God or human rights
'Cause all these dreams are swept aside
By bloody hands of the hypnotized
Who carry the cross of homicide
And history bears the scars of our civil wars
"We practice selective annihilation of mayors
And government officials
For example to create a vacuum
Then we fill that vacuum
As popular war advances
Peace is closer" **
I don't need your civil war
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor
Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain't that fresh
And I don't need your civil war
I don't need your civil war
I don't need your civil war
Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain't that fresh
I don't need your civil war
I don't need one more war
I don't need one more war
Whaz so civil 'bout war anyway

I doubt if very many Southern Republicans are neocons. Most of them
are long time conservatives. In fact with Rumsfeld gone Bush himself
has swept the neocons out of the White House and is bringing in
his father's old conservatives like James Baker and Robert Gates.

You have the right concept, but you did it backwards. We didn't go from Heinz to Del Monte; we had Del Monte on feces and we sent it back to the kitchen so they could scrape off the Del Monte and substitute the four-year-old Heinz for our fecal enjoyment.

And why in the hell did Diebold all of a sudden work this time? I mean its amazing. Now that the Dems won, I haven't heard A WORD about voter disenfranchisement, voter fraud, faulty machines, voter intimidation, etc. Amazing how you guys were whining like stuck pigs just 3 days ago, now not a peep about it. Can you please exlain to me how all of this you constanly have whine about all of a sudden disappeared and now it was the people, not the dirty tactics, that won this election? I just find it amazing how that works.

The only conspiritorial reason I can gather as to Bush wanting the dems to have control would be that he wants his agenda passed. More entitlement programs, AMNESTY FOR ILLEGALS, you actually think they would be against that? Remember the house GOP told Bush to go fu(k himself when he tried to get his immigration bill passed. Now, I expect no problems. Hell, best thing he could do for the GOP would be to switch party affiliation. Man, Id make a mess if my pants if he did that.
I can. Tom Tancredo.
Prove it. He's a Republicrat; that's a huge strike against him.
