Wow, this really makes the new college football clock rules look pretty ridiculous. Looks like Jopa is pretty pissed about it!!

They should just make their rules like the NFL. Hell, replay is almost like the NFL. I think they should do the same thing for the clock rules.

I hate the new clock rules, but I hate most of the rule changes forced by TV like replay, tie breaking, etc

I am with you on replay, it takes away from the flow of the game. There's already enough stoppage time with all of the TV commercials.
Even though the college overtime has it's share of excitement, the gimmick rears it's ugly head when both offenses stall and the game comes down to who has the better soccer player.

I just think ties are fine. If the better team does not play to its potential during the game, why should they have a second chance. If the lesser team plays its butt off and it results in a tie, why should they be penalized by giving the other team a second chance. Ties have been a big part of both NFL and College FB history.

I have mixed feelings about the clock rules. Some collegiate games had so many overall plays and total offense that it reminded you of an Arena Football game, so some adjustment was needed. The negative is we won't see the wild BYU-SMU Holiday Bowl-esque comebacks anymore and the single game individual records of David Klinger, Troy Edwards, LaDainian Tomlinson etc. are even safer.

Um...the new clock rules actually do good for the flow of the game. If you actually go to a game and watch. The whole sitting and waiting while players stand there and deciding weather or not to come onto the field at the start of the series. The ref waiting to blow the ball ready for play excruciatingly painful. Also with the clock starting when the ball is kicked you don't have a 30 second touch back just wasting time. I agree with replay, I dislike replay in all levels. But the overtime system is probably the greatest idea anyone has ever come up with that is fair to both sides. And if you have ever been at a game where its been used. Its not just a battle of kickers in most cases. I have seen three games in the last two years including a four ot game last year.

I've been to a dozen or so OT games and don't like it. Like I said if a good team plays like crap why should they get a second chance or if an underdog plays better than expected, why should they be penalized.
The new timing has reduced the number of plays per game by 10-12. I don't mind the time between plays, but in some games the TV timeouts are annoying. Football isn't basketball, they need tiem between plays to get properly organized.
