Here's a fun little poll. I used Gates because he is the best receiver the Chargers have.

He's the best after Walker, but I would still give it to Walker hands down.

Here's Kennison's stats, FYI:
26 receptions, 425 yards, 2 touchdowns.
He's had one 100 yard game this year. Even against us, when traditionally he's done very well, he only managed 32 yards.

But..but, that stat isn't accurate. When we play at night against an opponent with a Points For vs. Points Against advantage of at least 3 PPG on routes in the outside left third of the field, Kennison averages over 22 yards per catch.
He owns Walker.

Thats ok with the the way Tony has stepped up his game. His stats are not going to wow anyone but the guy has made clutch catches.
When we need something he is there with the grab.

A valid argument could be made that Tony Gonzalez is the best receiver the Chefs have, too...

week 1, down by 10 to the bengals, 4th quarter:
3-6-KC24 (2:59) (Shotgun) D.Huard pass incomplete to E.Kennison.
week 2, tied with broncos, 4th quarter:
2-13-50 (:32) D.Huard pass incomplete short left to E.Kennison.
week, 5, down by 3 to arizona, 4th quarter:
3-10-ARI22 (5:12) D.Huard pass incomplete short right to E.Kennison (A.Rolle).
week 7, SD game, 4th quarter:
doesn't even get a ball thrown his way.
I'll give him the big catch in the seattle game, but beyond that there's nothing he's done that defines 'clutch', unless you nitpick things down all weirdly.
And no matter the types of incompletions listed above, the point is that those were the only times his name came up in such situations.
I could be wrong, but I call bluff or a mind still too high on his one big play this year.

The guy has came up with a lot of great catches to keep drives going...3rd downs...momentum...
He does what we need him to do in our offense.
I didn't know clutch had to be game winning...maybe I used the wrong word?
When it is 3rd and long...he and Tony have done a great jobs of finding a way to move those chains.

good point, here at the OM 'clutch' tends to be used mostly used for 4th quarters and playoffs, so i assumed you meant that. But really, any 3rd down at any point in the game is just as valuable. So rather than scanning every 3rd down for kc this year i'll take your word for it.

Kennison's numbers are obviously down because we haven't thrown the ball as much this year.
Gonzalez leads all tight ends, BTW. Here's a fantastic article on his turnaround:

good point, here at the OM 'clutch' tends to be used mostly used for 4th quarters.
Kennison had a huge clutch 51-yard grab against the Seahawks in the fourth quarter two weeks ago. Pretty much won the game.
BTW Javon Walker is a stud. Much better than Kennison.

now i dont like my Gates pick as i see Boob did the same pick. He would never pick a bronco and didnt want to look like a homer. Gates, as a TE, does things very few at his position can accomplish.

There is one player on the Broncos who deservedly can be called the best player in the league at his position. I'd vote for him if you posted a poll.

Javon Walker had more rushing yards against the Steelers than Larry Johnson...in addition to his 124 passing yards and two TD catches. How's that for things that few players can do?
Oh, and we got to face Porter and two other starters on defense that were hurt when the Chiefs played them.

i am not counting a reverse play for major run that will compare to LJ or whoever. It was a great cut and by him staying inside, he earned all those yards. I love Javon and was glad when we got him months ago. I have watched Gates at his position and knows he dominates in the NFL. I hope i can change my view by year's end.

If you've watche deven one game you'd already know that he is more dangerous than Gates will ever be and that's a fact.
You know tight ends are great, and Gates is great too, but there is a reason a wide receiver is paid way, way, way more than any tight end.

You're joking, right?
Anybody see Randy Moss's career numbers, year-by-year? Don't let this astonishingly awful Raiders team fool you - Moss is definitely the "best player" listed there (though Gates could eventually approach him if he continues like last year).
I love Javon, too ... he's my "favorite player" listed there, he's having the "best season" of those listed there .... but he is NOT the "best player" listed there. Get real.

Maybe I should have made it clear that I meant right now. It doesn't matter what someone did. Moss has gone soft and doesn't catch balls like he used to. He'd still be good if he had a decent Qb and an O-line but not like you think.

Javon had ONE great, Moss-like year - then missed an entire season with injury. I love the Broncos as much as anybody here, but those poll results are just silly.

Maybe I should have made it clear that I meant right now.
Okay .... then I change my vote to Javon! (happily ;D)

Sure wanted to give the love to Wallker. But look - Walker is a top tier receiver but does not stand out as "the best receiver in the league". Gates on the otherhand has that distinction as a tight end. Had to vote with my head and not my heart and go with Gates.
