My predictions had the Dems taking over in the house but the Repubs barely keeping control of the Senate.

It's tough to tell exactly....there has definitely been a tilt in favor of Republicans the last couple of days....they have halved the Democrats advantage in the generic ballot bringing it down to 5,6 and 7 in three different polls released today when that number was around 12-14 for a long time. It is being reflected in a few races, Corker now has a commanding lead in TN, in Montana, Burns has pulled into a tie, in Maryland where Steele has done the same. There is a RI poll showing Chafee back into a tie but I doubt that is true, that has to be an outlier. Still, Dems are holding strong in PA and OH. VA and MO seem to be unchanged by the effect of some Republicans coming home in the latest polls, those races are still deadheats. It will be pretty close on the Senate side...I still think the House will go Democratic. It will be really hard for the GOP to keep the House.

This midterm election is a referendum on Bush and the Iraq war, imho... a vote for a Dem just might be a vote against a "unitary executive" branch (read: de facto dictator) and a rubberstamp Congress that (with a Republican majority) has abandoned its role as any kind of check on executive power... and has put partisanship above everything else, including protecting teenage pages from a known sexual predator.

Oh, and it seems that opinions might vary on whether or not Republicans are "rebounding"....

The Democrats will take the House, but might not get a majority, (218). . . I think the Senate is going to be very close. 51 DEM, 49 REP after it's all said and done.

Just a guess:
Senate- Republicans 52
Democrats 47
Ind. 1
House- Republicans 218
Democrats 216
Ind. 1
*Not the mainstream predictions as you well can see. However, I'm thinking the last week or so will have an impact on the election. Economic news, Sen. Kerry's botched joke, NYT's publishing of sadaam's one yr left to a nuclear bomb are just a few of the reasons...dman
The states of washington and michigan may open some eyes also..
